Chapter 30

In the area between where Big Boars and Goblins, Slimes appear, two types of MOBs, Milbirds and Gray Rats, can be found. In terms of level, they are equivalent to the Stone Armadillos and Rock Clubs in the quarry. These have high speed but low defense.
The Milbirds, which hover in the air, will let out a loud cry and charge when you get within a certain distance. Miu would time her strikes to cut them down as they charged.
Even though they charge, they make a loud noise beforehand, making it easy to detect them.
The Gray Rats are huge rats. They are not cute. These rats, about the size of a small dog, will not attack unless you get close to them.
Today's target is a bird.
Aim for the Milbirds in the sky with long-range attacks. My attacks are not particularly powerful, but the enemies don't have much HP either. One hit, and they notice me, but I can shoot three arrows in the time it takes for them to get close, bringing them down to the ground.
My bow seems to have a higher accuracy rate than others, and my current sense of it is even more precise.
It's easy to aim. So easy, in fact, that I can target specific parts.
Indeed, I aimed for the wings of the flying birds, shot them down, and slammed them into the ground. Most of them died from the fall damage and disappeared.
I realized that changing my armor alone could make such a difference. I also discovered that attacking specific parts of the birds could vary the damage.
Especially, hitting their small heads almost always resulted in a critical hit. Hitting both wings would knock them down.
"I see. Damage varies by location. And it seems DEX is related to bow skills."
The relationship between bows and dexterity.
The DEX bonus from my armor increased my accuracy. In other words, for archers, DEX affects accuracy.
The reason many archers have given up in the past: range, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Range tends to depend on ATK.
Accuracy tends to depend on DEX.
Cost-effectiveness depends on the player's financial resources.
Pure archers, without knowing the involvement of DEX, tried to improve their ATK to solve the problem. While this game does require individual player skills, it's not without assistance. For example, mages have spell tracking, and swordsmen have skill action assistance.
So, it's natural that there is assistance for bows, but the focus on range led to insufficient verification of accuracy.
"In other words, it's all about brainpower. And I, as a result of my production work, have high DEX. What an irony. Maybe the status of garbage senses is like this."
Initially, everything was low-level and didn't grow, but as I trained everything, my DEX increased, and my accuracy improved. That's my hypothesis.
In other words, if I remove all my senses except for my bow and it doesn't work, then it proves that my hypothesis is correct.
I decided to test it by removing all my senses except for my bow.
I don't think I can knock down birds in the sky without the Hawk's Eye sense. I trusted the level of my bow and shot.
The arrow flew dozens of meters, less than half the range of my sense-boosted equipment. It fell short of the bird, drew a parabola, and hit a rat moving on the ground.
"Ah..."
The rat, with an arrow stuck in its back, charged at me in a rage.
I hastily nocked another arrow to counter, but I couldn't hit it. I fumbled to re-equip my senses, and the rat closed the distance. Without the speed boost and additional effects, even if I ran, it would catch up.
I was forced into close combat and beaten to death by a single rat.
"Ouch... I didn't realize dying could be so painful. It's been a while since I took damage."
It's been since the first day of the game. I've been managing with production and long-range attacks, but maybe I overdid it with this experiment.
I respawned in the central square of the first town.
"It's been proven, maybe. Even herbivores are fast at the initial stage, so if the DEX of the bow is low, the enemy might dodge."
I stood up and re-equipped my senses. I thought I should tell someone about this, but Magi was logged out.
With the one-hour death penalty, I had nothing to do. I was in trouble. I had too much free time.
"Maybe I'll log out to go shopping. How about Chinese for dinner today?"
I gave up on today's production activities and spent the day quietly.
