Chapter 29

I was anxiously waiting for the completion of the armor. I hadn't expected it to be done in just a day or two, so I just did what I could. I made potions, enchanted items, and so on.
Since I was running low on pills, I went hunting in the surrounding area to get furs and gallstones.
The fields were now producing a stable supply of medicinal herbs and magic herbs, so I completely switched to buying herbs from NPCs.
My stats have also improved significantly.

From the medicinal herbs, I could make High Potions, and from the magic herbs, I could make MP Potions. Moreover, drying them first increased the recovery amount. However, due to my low mixing level, I failed more than half the time at first. Now, I'm succeeding about 70% of the time.
I also refined the herbs to increase their quality, and using lower-level alchemy to convert them increased the quantity, allowing me to mix a lot more. However, I couldn't produce enough to sell, so for now, they are for my personal use, and the recovery amount is significantly higher for me.
However, recently, my synthesis level has been struggling to improve. I no longer need to make synthesis potions, and I don't feel the need to level it up. The arrows I use are also bought from the store these days.
"Synthesis has become a waste of time."
If this continues, I won't need synthesis at all. I've been thinking about how to improve it, but all the items I have seem to be useful for something. Even though I'm not using them.
"Hmm. I haven't done three-item synthesis in a while, and combining synthesis potions only slightly increases the recovery amount. For High Potions and MP Potions, my level isn't high enough, and I keep failing. The only items left are... stones?"
I've collected a lot of stones. Maybe around two hundred? I failed with synthesis and alchemy before, but I have a feeling that my current level might work.
"Better to try than to worry. 'Synthesis'!"
Using a kit that allows three items, I synthesized three stones—result: a rock.
A nicely rounded, smooth rock that would be perfect to sit on.
"Wow, it's heavy. In my inventory... oh, it fits."
It was in the way, so I started converting stones into rocks to level up. I tried alchemy in between, but it failed. I wonder if there's a pattern. Rocks are not a higher-level material than stones, so what are they used for?
Thinking it might look good around the fields, I placed dozens of rocks.
The gray stones, yellowish soil, and green herbs, with purple detox herbs and yellow paralysis herbs in one corner, made the fields look more like a flower bed.
"Wow, it looks nice. Even if I say it myself. Maybe I should take a screenshot and show it to Mew and the others."
Everyone makes fun of farming, but it can look pretty nice. If I had a frame item, I could decorate my screenshots. Someday, I want to have my own shop and display them.
*Ping.* A short sound echoed in my head. It was a message from Magi.
"Hello, Yun here."
"Oh, the armor is ready. Claude left a note with it."
"Ah, then I'll pick it up when I deliver the potions."
"Got it. I'll be waiting."
Blue Potions can be made quickly with a recipe, but since it involves multiple steps, it consumes more MP than just following a recipe. However, it also helps me level up faster. There are pros and cons.
"Well, it's ready. Let's go. [Augmentation]—Speed."
I switched my sense to Speed Boost, enchanted myself, and sprinted through the town. Leaving a yellow trail, I reached the center of town, near [Open Sesame], in just a few minutes.
"Magi, hello."
"Sure, sure. Welcome. Here's the armor. And a little extra."
Nervously, I accepted the armor from Magi's trade screen. It even came with an inner layer.
CS No. 6 Oaker Creator [Outerwear]
DEF +16, Additional Effect: DEX Bonus, Auto Repair
"Wow, this is a world apart from my current armor."
"Right. But the coolest part is the additional effect from the earth elemental stone."
Rare materials apparently enhance the armor's performance and add special effects.
"The effect of the earth elemental stone is DEF +5 and auto repair. This auto repair effect absorbs the wearer's MP to repair durability. According to the note, it can fully recover with time and MP, even if it's completely broken."
Wow, that's convenient. If it breaks, I'll have to buy a new one properly.
"Also, if you want to upgrade the armor, come to me. I can upgrade it for you."
"Ah, that's great. Then I'll try it on right away."
The outerwear is a black and brown coat. The shoulders are cut off, exposing the skin, which seems to prioritize ease of movement. It has leather and gold metal decorations, showcasing Claude's good sense.
The inner layer is a simple black piece with high durability and a good feel. Wearing the leather coat over it hides the inner layer.
The leather coat isn't very long, just enough to cover the buttocks. Tightening the belt around the waist adjusts it to fit the body.
I moved my arms around to test the movement. It's not bad.
"Looks cool. I like it. But what does CS mean in the name?"
"Oh, that. Crafters can freely change the names of the items they make. In Claude's case, he numbers his best works. It's short for Claude Series."
"That's embarrassing."
It feels like a limited edition. Well, it's fine.
"If you get a full set, he'll change the name for you."
"Next time, I'll ask for a normal name."
"Right, it is embarrassing. Also, if you model for him, he'll give you a discount. It's written in the note."
Ugh, I have a bad feeling about what he means by modeling. Given his similarity to Gunz, he might make me wear weird clothes.
"I'll think about it."
"Sure. That's all, I guess."
"Okay, then I'll deliver the potions."
I placed the Blue Potions on the trade screen.
"Fifty Blue Potions at 500G each, that's 25,000G. You've accumulated quite a bit in three days. If you wait a little longer, you might be able to open your own shop."
"Right. I want to have one someday, but we'll see."
"Then you'll sell them yourself. I'll be lonely."
"Then I'll visit from time to time. Talking with you is fun."
"Oh, trying to make me fall for you?"
"Stop joking. It's the truth. Plus, conversations between crafters are fun."
I laughed happily, and Magi widened her eyes in surprise before laughing back.
"Conversations between crafters are indeed charming. Even if you have your own shop, it would be nice if you still delivered potions from time to time."
"Then I'll bring them as a souvenir when I visit the shop."
We talked happily about something that might not happen for a while.
"Then I'll go test the armor."
"Hmm? Are you going to produce something? With your increased DEX, you might succeed at things you failed before."
"Before that, I'll go fight. You never know what stats might affect it."
"Interesting. If you find out something, let me know."
"Sure."
With that, I left the town. My destination was the place just before where I fought the Big Boar to the east.
