Epilogue

“Please let me win the grand prize…!”

Just as I always did, I said a smallprayer before clicking the ‘Send’ button. It was already nearingthe end of January, and I had sent my newest work to RyuuseiPublishing for their next light novel contest.

“…Whew. Even though I was reallycutting it close to the deadline, I just barely managed to finish itin time.”

My goal this time around was toemphasize and strengthen the role and personality of the heroine.Although it wasn’t as easy as I had hoped it would be, I hadmanaged to get enough material and finish it. This was mostly thanksto all the research that I had done up until now.

…Although I really meant to model theheroine after Suzuka, I wonder if she actually turned out as cute asI’d hoped? Normally, I’d always say “This time I’lldefinitely win for sure, yeah!” and such when submitting (eventhough I always dropped out in the preliminaries), but this time Ireally couldn’t say for sure.

“Though I do think that Suzuka’scuteness really shines through. Only in the sense that she was amodel for the character, of course!”

Again, who am I making these excusesto? Well, now that I’ve sent it, I can’t change it anymoreanyway. For now, I’ll have to wait. Since I’ve never used anyoneas a model before, this took way longer than before. Even though I’vebeen writing light novels for a long, long time, I still feltextremely tired.

“…Well, time for a break, I guess.”

I leaned back in my chair andstretched. Just then, I heard a knock on the door, followed bySuzuka’s voice.

“Onii-chan, do you have some time?”

“Ahh, yeah.”

Suzuka hesitantly entered my room.After the misunderstanding between the two of us was cleared and wemade up, we’ve gotten closer again— That’s a total lie. We’vestayed almost exactly the same as before. Well, we’re not kidsanymore, so that much would be pretty much impossible to achieve. Butat the very least, it feels like the wall between us has vanished. Iguess that it’ll take some more time until the stiff atmosphere isgone as well.

“Ah, were you busy writing?” Shesaid, seeing me sitting in front of my PC.

“No, I just finished the manuscriptand send it in.”

“Ah, so you finished it. That’s thework where I’m the model for the heroine, right?” Suzuka askedwith slightly flushed cheeks.

“T-That’s right. Thanks to you, Ifinished it.”

“U-Uhm, I also want to see it… thatmanuscript.”

“I-I really don’t wanna show you…It’s embarrassing.”

I mean, just think about it. Letting myreal little sister read a story I wrote where she’s basically theheroine? Just imagining it makes me shiver!

“T-That’s not fair! I have theright to read it, since I’m your model!”

But there’s no way I can say no tothis logical response from Suzuka.

“Fiiine… Is that why you cameover?”

While I was close to tears, Suzuka letout a small “Ah,” as if she had remembered something.

“N-No. We’ll leave that for later.There’s something that I wanted to ask of you, Onii-chan…”

“What is it?”

“It’s about tomorrow. Would youshow me around your school, please?”

“…Eh?”

I never expected Suzuka to ask this, soI was taken aback.

…Eh? W-What? Show her around myschool?

“W-Why?”

“For my entrance exam, of course.It’s at the end of the month, right? You should know, since youtook it as well.”

Hearing that, I responded “Y-Yeah…”

That’s right, tomorrow there’s noschool since they have to prepare for the entrance exams.

Oh… I see. An entrance exam, huh? Icompletely forgot. I have no reason to refuse, of course, so I openedmy mouth to answer. But then—

“…………Eh?” My body froze up.

…Wait a second? Entrance exam?Suzuka? Eh? Ehhh?!

“Wha-?! W-What’s wrong,Onii-chan?!” Suzuka twitched as I screamed.

“Entrance exam?! You?! At myschool?!”

“T-That’s right…”

“No…! But…! Ehhh?! W-Why?!”

“Please calm down, Onii-chan. I’m athird year in middle school, so this year in April, I will become ahigh school student! Of course I would have to take entrance exams!”

“B-But wait! You’re still a studentat Hakuou, right?! Why would you go to my public school?!”

“I never once said that I would stayat Hakuou.”

T-That’s true, but…! Normally, ifyou were already at such a prestigious school, you’d stay in thesame institute, right?! She should have high enough grades to go toany high school she wants, so why my public school?!

“I’ve talked with Father and Motherabout it already, and I have prepared everything.” She said soconfidently.

For some reason, she started fidgetingwith her hands while her cheeks started to flush, and she said thefollowing words.

“I’ll do my best so that we can goto the same school, Onii-chan.”
