Today, Misha was very happy because she could play with Flame. Despite being a college student, her personality was like that of a child.
Today, Misha was also very unhappy because after playing with Flame for a while, Flame ran away on its own. She could clearly feel a sense of impatience on Flame's horse face.
"I must ride Flame," Misha set a goal for herself before leaving.
Liu Yuxuan watched Misha leave, still looking very excited, and he really couldn't understand why she was so happy just to touch Flame. He didn't notice that Garcia and Rodriguez were looking at Misha with envy.
They were traditional cowboys, raised in the cowboy culture. Horses were an essential part of cowboy culture. Every cowboy would love a good horse, even if it wasn't their own. Being able to appreciate and interact with one up close was a good thing. However, they could only do so when Liu Yuxuan was around. Although Flame no longer bit them, it would always run away whenever they tried to get close.
It seemed the giant turtle had decided to settle here. After eating and drinking its fill, it would bask in the sun on the grass.
Liu Yuxuan felt a bit bored after riding Flame around the ranch. Since Garcia hadn't found a suitable plot of land to build the factory yet, he didn't need to start raising funds too early.
At this moment, he remembered the origin of the giant turtle. Garcia said it had crawled out of the lake, and since Liu Yuxuan had known about the lake since he arrived, he had never actually gone to see it.
Thinking of this, he rode Flame towards the lake.
The lake wasn't very large, with some aquatic plants growing in the shallow water, and the water was quite clear.
This lake actually belonged to the Kate Ranch and the Pastoral Ranch, completely surrounded by these two ranches.
"The only thing is that the mountains are a bit far away; otherwise, it would be a beautiful landscape," Liu Yuxuan thought.
The giant turtle had indeed come out of the lake. Because it was so heavy and the soil by the lake was very soft, it left a trail of small pits as it walked.
"If I set up a sun umbrella, it would be very nice to sit by the lake and fish when I'm bored," Liu Yuxuan thought.
"Hey, Garcia, does our ranch have fishing rods?" Liu Yuxuan asked Garcia, who happened to be riding by.
"I remember there are two in the tool shed. Boss, are you going to fish? But I don't think you have any fish bait," Garcia said.
"That's fine, we have ready-made bait," Liu Yuxuan thought of earthworms. When fishing in the village, he always used earthworms. Not the ones in cow dung, but there were plenty in the pasture. He had just bought them because he was too lazy to dig.
Now that the weather was getting warmer, the earthworms were becoming active. Seeing the earthworm droppings on the ground, he dug a few and had enough.
Riding Flame back, he brought a chair, a bottle of cleaned earthworms, and the fishing rod Garcia found, and Liu Yuxuan excitedly came to the lake.
After attaching the earthworms, Liu Yuxuan forcefully cast the hook into the lake.
Garcia was very curious, as it was the first time he had seen someone use earthworms for fishing. In the U.S., people usually used granular bait, and for larger, more aggressive fish, they used artificial lures made of plastic or rubber.
However, after waiting for fifteen minutes, there was no reaction from the float. Liu Yuxuan secretly added some space water to the lake.
It wasn't that he was impatient, but with Garcia watching, he didn't want to lose face in front of the workers.
The effect of the space water was good, and soon the float plunged sharply.
A big fish! Judging by the speed at which the float sank, Liu Yuxuan determined it was a large fish. He quickly let out more line and, after a while, confirmed it was indeed a big fish.
Now, with Liu Yuxuan slowly reeling in the line, the big fish was almost at the lake's edge. Its black back cut a line through the water as it swam.
Garcia, watching from the side, was also very tense and unconsciously ran to Liu Yuxuan's side, clenching his fists.
This was the first time Liu Yuxuan had caught such a big fish. After a few more minutes, he finally pulled it out of the water.
Garcia, who had been watching, quickly stepped forward to hold the fish and pressed it firmly to the ground. Unexpectedly, the fish, which he thought had no strength left, lashed its tail hard when Garcia relaxed a bit, hitting him right on the shoulder.
Garcia was often working, catching cows and horses at other ranches, and was already very strong. Yet, that one tail almost knocked him over.
Liu Yuxuan, who was reeling in the line, was also startled. Now, upon closer inspection, he realized it was a carp. It was so large, about a meter long. Liu Yuxuan had never seen such a big carp before.
The two of them carried the fish back to the villa. Without a large enough bucket, they had to put it in the bathtub.
At this point, Garcia took off his shirt, and his shoulder was already swollen.
"Boss, you're amazing, catching such a big fish," Garcia said, rubbing his shoulder.
"Luck, I've never caught such a big one before. Do you know what kind of fish it is?" Liu Yuxuan was a bit unsure of his own judgment.
"This fish should be an Asian carp, but how did it end up here?" Garcia was also puzzled. No one had ever stocked the lake with fish, let alone Asian carp.
Not knowing what to do with such a large fish, they decided to invite the Allen family to share it.
The Allen family of four all pitched in. Misha and the rambunctious Adam took many photos with the fish.
Americans don't eat much fish and aren't skilled at preparing it, so Liu Yuxuan had to step in.
He cut off the fish head, cleaned it, and split it down the middle from the mouth. He then marinated it, preparing to make spicy fish head. He had been craving Chinese food after eating Western food for so long.
He cut the two pieces of fish meat, putting one in the fridge and slicing the other into sashimi. The fish was so large, weighing over 30 pounds, that half the meat was enough for everyone.
He didn't waste the fish bones either, marinating them and putting them in the fridge to grill later.
Garcia was speechless watching the boss's knife skills. Clearly, the boss knew how to cook, so why did he always make him do it?
Kate wasn't idle either, making a few sandwiches and some vegetable salad.
When the spicy fish head was served, the foreigners were all attracted by the aroma. Although they didn't eat much fish, they could still smell the deliciousness.
The rambunctious Adam was the most eager, immediately spearing a forkful of the chili.
"Adam, the meat on the fish head is the most delicious and has no fishy smell. The chilies are just a seasoning," Liu Yuxuan had to teach them how to eat it.
Chinese chopsticks are a great invention, making eating convenient. The fish head was hard to cut with a knife and fork, so Liu Yuxuan had to use chopsticks to divide the meat for them.
"How does the fish head taste? Is it good?" Liu Yuxuan asked while eating.
"It's very fresh and has no fishy smell at all. It's unbelievable."
"Yeah, I've only eaten sashimi before. This is my first time eating it this way."
Everyone praised the delicious fish as they ate.
"Liu, is this the magic of Eastern cuisine?" Misha asked, blinking her big eyes.
Liu Yuxuan was almost dazzled by Misha's big eyes and had to pick up a piece of sashimi, eating it while saying, "Yes, Eastern cuisine is indeed very skilled. For example, different fish have different cooking methods. Another example is flour. In the West, you mainly bake bread and cakes, but in the East, we can make dozens or even hundreds of dishes with flour."
"Wow, I'm looking forward to Eastern cuisine. Can I come to your place to eat often?" Misha asked hopefully after hearing Liu Yuxuan's explanation.
How could he say no? Since Misha was sitting next to him, she moved a bit closer in excitement. Liu Yuxuan's mind was filled with the image of Misha's big, twinkling eyes, and he could only nod continuously.
