The cows were a bit startled by the change of location, and Li Han was worried it might affect their milk production. However, seeing that Doudou had done a good job calming them, the ten large cows were eating, drinking, and mooing loudly, even playing with Doudou. The little guy was so happy, not at all afraid, and climbed all over the cows, which made Baby very envious. He kept shouting that he wanted to climb the cows too, but Li Han didn't dare to let him. After much persuasion, Baby finally agreed. "Doudou, Baby, let's go home. Grandma has made some delicious food."
"Okay, okay." As soon as Doudou heard about the delicious food, he immediately hugged the cow's leg and slid down. He followed Li Han back to the farm house. They had been quite busy lately, and today was the perfect day to try the fresh, tender beer from the small farm. They invited Willi and a few others for a beer party, preparing some grilled meat, fish, and crispy fried fish. The fish bones were so crispy, and a large bowl of small fried fish was absolutely delicious. Even before it was out of the pan, Doudou and Baby couldn't wait. The two little guys were leaning on the kitchen counter, asking repeatedly, "Grandma, the small fish smell so good."
"Yes, Grandma's fried fish is the best. Grandma, Doudou wants to eat some." Baby pulled on Grandma Zhang Xiuying's hand, pointing at Doudou.
The fried fish received unprecedented popularity. They fried quite a bit, and Willi, Kedi, Bill, and Kelly, who rarely ate small fish and shrimp, each ate quite a few. The taste was really good, and there was no need to worry about the fish bones, as they were crispy through and through. Doudou, Baby, and Little Mickey each filled a large jar to snack on, enjoying the crispy and fragrant fish. They gathered on the lawn in the yard, eating grilled meat, fried fish, and meat sandwiches, and drinking beer, feeling very comfortable. They had a lively and joyful evening, a rare moment of relaxation after their busy days.
The next morning, Daina arrived early with a four-wheeled tractor to feed the lambs at George's farm, bringing several small milk buckets. The whole Li Han family joined in, carrying small stools and milk buckets of various sizes, all working together to milk the cows. It was a lively scene, but they were all beginners, with only Li Han having some experience. It looked fun but was quite tiring. Li Han wiped his sweat, helped move the disinfected milk into the tractor, and lifted Doudou and Baby into the cart. The two little guys shouted that they wanted to feed the lambs. "Daina, thank you for your hard work. I'll come to pick up Doudou and Baby later."
"Han, I'll bring Doudou and Baby back later." Daina organized the milk buckets in the cart. "I'm going to George's farm, so I'll pick them up."
"Alright, there's quite a bit. Han, I'll be off." "See you later." Daina drove the tractor with the cart, carrying the milk buckets and the two little guys, rumbling along the path back to George's farm. Doudou and Baby were restless in the cart. Doudou secretly took out a large milk bottle from his bag, filled it with milk, and drank it all the way to George's farm. Baby took out a large bottle filled with small fried fish and munched on them. The two little guys didn't feed the lambs; they just ate until their bellies were full.
After seeing Daina off, Li Han changed his clothes and cleaned the cowshed. The cows were doing well, not much affected by the change. After finishing, he rode his four-wheeled motorcycle to Oram Lake. The project was almost complete, with the mud piled into two small hills. He planned to reinforce the area, plant fruit trees, build a dock, and a walking path around the lake. He also thought about bringing some willow trees.
Following the irrigation channel to George's farm, Hutton was shoeing a horse, sweating from the work. Horses usually need new shoes every two months, but Hutton was doing it because there was a problem during yesterday's herding. The process was quite complex, and Hutton was drenched in sweat. Li Han had learned some of it. "This big guy really enjoys it." Li Han patted the large spotted horse. It had changed a lot since the last time he saw it, thanks to Hutton and Daina, and occasionally his father and brother-in-law, who helped brush the horse, making its coat look much better.
"Han, the spotted horse is gentle, much better than the two Quarter Horses." Hutton put away his tools, led the spotted horse out of the workshop, and went to check on the cows with Li Han. The pregnant cows were grazing in a nearby pasture. Hutton mentioned seeing a wolf at the Glasserman Ranch two days ago, fearing it might disturb the cows.
Li Han was startled. Pregnant cows are very sensitive to disturbances and can easily miscarry. He discussed with George and decided to keep the cows away from the third pasture and the Glasserman Ranch for a while.
After settling the matter, Li Han went to feed the lambs and take Doudou and Baby back to the small farm for school. Mrs. Augustus is a strict teacher, and being late is no small matter. At the sheep pen, Daina was herding the sheep out. There were about a hundred sheep, and Li Han planned to buy more, aiming for five or six hundred, a manageable number for Daina. "Daina, Hutton mentioned the wolf at the Glasserman Ranch. Be careful."
Daina shook her rifle. "Han, don't worry. With this, even a bear would stay away."
Li Han was surprised. He hadn't seen Daina handle a gun before. It was a rifle with considerable recoil, but she handled it with one hand, impressive. "That's a great gun. I'll try it sometime. Daina, I'll take Doudou and Baby back now. See you later."
"See you later, Han. Pandora, Baby, see you later." Daina herded the sheep away, and Li Han rode the four-wheeled motorcycle with Doudou and Baby sitting on the back. Little Millie chased after them, and they soon returned to the small farm. Grandma and his sister had prepared the school bags, and Baby and Doudou put some bundled lettuce on the cart, waving goodbye as they went to their ballet class. "Don't play on the way. Be good, and Grandma will make you something delicious when you come back." "Okay, Doudou will be good."
With Baby and Doudou off to class, the farm was much quieter. The chickens and ducks strolled leisurely on the grass, and the squirrels jumped joyfully in the trees. The crabs and turtles still walked proudly past Li Han's feet, and Little Millie barked fiercely to protect her owner.
Li Han, his father, and brother-in-law returned from a horse ride and went to the warehouse to fetch wood and tools. Li Han planned to build an ice cream stand at the intersection. The frame was already purchased, and he just needed the wood, windows, and some decorations. With his brother-in-law and father's help, they made good progress, completing most of it in the morning and finishing the rest in the afternoon. The next morning, Li Han carried a paint bucket, and Doudou and Baby followed with small brushes, while his brother-in-law and father carried ladders.
Doudou and Baby wore large gloves, small hats, masks, and rubber boots, fully equipped and very excited. Li Han and his brother-in-law painted the roof and eaves, while his father and the two little workers painted the walls and corners. The two little guys started with enthusiasm, but soon got tired and started messing around, painting themselves like little kittens. They even almost fought, getting covered in paint.
Li Han and his brother-in-law were helpless. After finally finishing the painting, the two little guys pestered Li Han to make ice cream. Li Han took off his hat and mask and tapped each of their heads. "Little gluttons, not yet. Wait two more days, and we'll have breakfast at home."
The two little guys pouted, unhappy. Li Han smiled and pinched their cheeks. "Alright, be good. I'll take you boating later." The Oram Lake project was complete, and the water gate was opened, allowing the Yellow Creek to flow into the lake. It looked like a beautiful piece of jade. "Wow, boating time!" Baby and Doudou cheered, barely eating breakfast and insisting on boating. Li Han was scolded by his mother and sister, but after breakfast, he drove the pickup truck with the boat trailer, taking the whole family.
Boating and fishing, the Yellow Creek was full of fish. In the morning, Li Han caught three or four fish, and his father, brother-in-law, mother, and sister all had some success. Only the two mischievous little guys didn't catch any fish, and they returned with drooping heads, looking disappointed, a rare moment of quiet.
