Chapter 3

Su Chen was unaware of the indifference of Wang Tingwei and others in the audience, who were all waiting to see his downfall. He was extremely frustrated at this moment.

There are only wrong names, but no wrong nicknames.

‘Mad Dog’ lived up to his name. Not only did he not stop his attack when Su Chen shouted for him to stop, he became even more frenzied, laughing maniacally as he pursued and attacked. Su Chen retreated quickly, but Mad Dog pursued even faster, his face contorted with ferocity as he launched six punches and twelve kicks in a single breath, disregarding the rules of the sparring session and targeting vital points with each strike.

Blood trickled from the corners of Su Chen's lips, and he felt dizzy from the relentless assault, inwardly cursing his situation.

Mad Dog laughed loudly, his head thrown back in triumph. "A gold-level sparring partner, not so great after all, with such weak strength, how can you be a sparring partner?"

Without pausing, he launched a barrage of attacks on Su Chen.

Su Chen's figure seemed to waver, but he did not fall. He skillfully used the protective gear on his body to deflect and absorb the force, perfectly blocking all of Mad Dog's moves.

Lacking strength, he relied on technique. Su Chen's two years of experience as a sparring partner were extraordinary.

Mad Dog's initially smug expression turned grim, as if he was reminded of his helplessness when facing ‘Blood Monkey’ last time. His eyes grew even more sinister.

Without hesitation, Su Chen blocked a powerful jab aimed at his throat, causing his body to lean backward. At the same time, he raised his leg to block Mad Dog's kick to his lower body. His body was lifted off the ground by the kick and slammed into the corner of the ring, then bounced back.

According to the rules of sparring, boxers were prohibited from attacking the sparring partner's lower body, throat, and other vital points, but Mad Dog paid no heed to these rules.

"Are you going to break the rules?"

After so long without the sound of the bell, Su Chen heard laughter from the audience, which made him furious.

No matter how hard Mad Dog tried, he could not knock Su Chen down. Despite Su Chen's wobbling, he remained steadfast.

Mad Dog's face turned blood red, as if the whole world was mocking him. He suddenly roared, "Die...!"

He lunged at the corner of the ring, launching a close-range attack.

"Rip, rip!"

Two faint sounds rang out. Su Chen, with his keen eyesight, suddenly noticed that the thick bandages on Mad Dog's fists had been pierced by sharp spikes, which glinted coldly under the lights.

As Mad Dog lunged forward, an uppercut aimed at Su Chen's temple came swinging.

From Mad Dog's punching stance, it was clear that this was a combination of punches, a swinging and continuous attack.

Jabs, hooks, and swings in rapid succession—Su Chen had seen such techniques before in his sparring career.

As long as he avoided the heavy punches and blocked the light ones, using his skill in absorbing force, being hit would not be a big deal.

But now it was different. The cold glint of the spikes on Mad Dog's fists clearly told Su Chen that missing any punch would be more than he could bear.

He regretted not retaliating earlier, knowing that Mad Dog would resort to underhanded tactics.

The rules of sparring were a double-edged sword!

You follow the rules, but others do not.

...

Just as Hei Zi entered the training hall with a hot water bottle, he saw Mad Dog launching a fierce attack on Su Chen, using every trick in the book.

Seeing Su Chen kicked to the corner of the ring and pursued, Hei Zi's eyes turned red, and he roared, "Mad Dog, you dare..."

He threw the water bottle and stared fiercely at Mad Dog on the ring, then lunged forward, sprinting toward Ring Four.

His boxer's instincts told him that Mad Dog was out of control, and Su Chen was in grave danger.

Just as he was about to jump onto the ring, a cold snort sounded, and a sharp wind rushed past his side, a blade aimed at his waist and kidneys.

It was Tie Lang, who had been sitting in the audience, who sprang up, leaning back and sliding forward three meters, his right foot like a spear, stabbing forward.

Hei Zi was startled, his arms forming a cross to block the foot spear, but his body was kicked and sent flying to the side.

As he was kicked into the air, he turned his head and saw the black metal spikes on Mad Dog's fists.

"No..."

His heart sank.

...

Su Chen grunted, beads of sweat the size of beans dripping from his forehead. His arms were pierced with deep blood holes, the pain searing to the bone.

He watched helplessly as Mad Dog, with a sinister grin, launched a punch at his eyes, the cold glint of the spikes getting closer. His arms, numb from pain, were too slow to react, and he could no longer block the punch.

"Beep... beep beep, host in extreme danger, expected to be pierced in the skull in 0.5 seconds, please self-rescue... Counterattack one: Iron Board Bridge, kick, break chest; Counterattack two: squat, headbutt, repel; Counterattack three..."

Information flashed through Su Chen's mind, his eyes gleaming with a golden light, and his body suddenly trembled.

A wave of heat seemed to flow through his body from his brow, his blood boiling, and a voice thundered in his mind.

"Counterattack, counterattack, counterattack!"

As the golden light flashed in his eyes, Su Chen was surprised to find that the image of Mad Dog, who was charging at him viciously, became somewhat ethereal, like a figure in a black-and-white movie.

Mad Dog's body was glowing with red dots, the largest one being his throat.

"Counterattack, counterattack, counterattack!"

The voice echoed in Su Chen's mind, his eyes becoming sharp and cold, and he secretly resolved, "You want me dead, so you die first!"

His body, which had been retreating, suddenly leaned forward, bending his waist and lowering his head. As he lunged forward, his right elbow, like a spear, aimed for the red dot.

Mad Dog, with a cold laugh, launched a punch, imagining the spikes piercing Su Chen's eyes and killing him.

He unconsciously licked his chapped lips, but suddenly his vision blurred, and Su Chen's figure became indistinct...

Mad Dog's throat ached, and he felt all his strength drain away.

He clutched his throat, making a "gagging" sound, and fell to the ground, motionless.

As Mad Dog fell, everyone in the audience of Ring Four stood up. Tie Lang's eyes widened; he could not believe that the once triumphant Mad Dog was now dead.

Wang Tingwei jumped up in shock, shouting, "Someone's dead, someone's dead, Su Chen, you actually killed a boxer?"

Hei Zi, however, laughed and, as soon as he landed, rushed onto the ring, supporting the wobbling Su Chen, and shouted at the audience, "Fat Wang, are you blind? Mad Dog used underhanded tactics to try to kill Brother Chen. He deserved to die."

"Didn't you see that Brother Chen was injured and bleeding? Get him to the medical room quickly."

Hei Zi then signaled to Xiao Zi, who pressed the alarm, causing the training hall to ring with the sound.

This was, of course, to alert the higher-ups of the boxing gym. A death was a big deal, and the bigger the commotion, the better for saving Su Chen.

In the critical moment, a wave of heat surged through Su Chen's body, and he suddenly counterattacked, breaking into Mad Dog's guard and delivering an elbow strike that shattered his throat.

The attack was executed with a sense of satisfaction, but afterward, Su Chen felt as if all his strength had been drained, and he struggled to catch his breath.

"What was that voice in my ear, telling me to counterattack? And that heat wave, and the red dots on Mad Dog's body—why did I feel compelled to attack when I saw those red dots?"

Too many questions left Su Chen confused. He tried to recall the vision, but everyone around him seemed normal, as if it had been an illusion.

"What caused this? It feels like a burst of potential, like a weak mother lifting a car to save her child. Was I in such a situation?"

Su Chen was puzzled by the events.

The speed and power of the counterattack, along with the targeted weak points, were not something he possessed. There was a secret here.

But now was not the time to think about it.

Tie Lang finally snapped out of his shock, ran onto the ring, and turned Mad Dog over, seeing his brother's lifeless eyes. With a blood-curdling scream, he charged at Su Chen, his eyes red with rage.

"Su Chen, give me my brother's life back..."

"Think again, I've been wanting to fight a C-level boxer. If you want to hurt Brother Chen, you'll have to get through me first."

Hei Zi clenched his fists and stepped forward, and with a "thud," the two began a brutal fist-to-fist fight.

The boxers behind Tie Lang exchanged glances and charged forward, aiming to kill Su Chen.

Just as Su Chen was in grave danger, the training hall door was kicked open with a loud "bang."

A group of people entered, led by three men, followed by seven or eight armed security guards.

"Who? Who pulled the alarm? What's going on?"

The leader, a tall man with blond hair and blue eyes, strode forward, his gaze sharp as he scanned the crowd, frowning at the chaotic scene.

At this point, Hei Zi and Tie Lang had stopped fighting, and the boxers and sparring partners in the audience, who had been watching, fell silent, all looking at the blond man.

This man was Paul, the head of the boxers, and a close confidant of Minister Jack Tang. His appearance marked the end of the farce.
