"Lord Paul, it was Su Chen who killed the boxer 'Mad Dog' in retaliation during a sparring session. He must be severely punished!" Wang Tingwei said hastily.
His scheme had succeeded, and he was now elated, focusing only on solidifying Su Chen's guilt so that no one could shake his position as group leader.
He didn't mention the context, knowing that the fact of a killing was undeniable.
This wasn't a boxer's match, but a sparring partner killing a boxer, which was a much bigger issue.
"Hmm... hmm!"
Feeling his strength recover somewhat, Su Chen knew he couldn't let Wang Tingwei have his way. If the supervisor Paul believed his one-sided account and issued an order, it would be hard to reverse.
"This isn't murder; it's self-defense. Mad Dog came to spar but openly used a weapon on the ring. Was I not allowed to defend myself?" Su Chen said with a cold laugh.
"Exactly, look at the blood holes in Brother Chen's arms. Was this a sparring session? He deserved to die. Does Mad Dog usually fight like this? It's a disgrace to the Tianwu Boxing Gym."
Hei Zi chimed in, implicating the gym in his words.
Su Chen found it amusing, thinking that Hei Zi was indeed a good teammate.
Although Paul was the supervisor and Iron Wolf's backer, he wasn't without concerns.
He couldn't act unjustly in public, after all, he was just a boxing supervisor, not the head of the department.
"Examine the fatal wounds and retrieve the training footage!"
Paul's expression was stern as he glanced at Iron Wolf, who looked displeased.
Mad Dog was Iron Wolf's brother, a C-level boxer who was killed by a sparring partner while using a weapon. This was too much of a disgrace.
"I'll take a look!"
A clear and gentle voice sounded, and a woman stepped forward from beside Paul.
She wore a light purple women's suit, had short hair, and wore black-rimmed glasses, with skin as smooth as jade.
She glanced thoughtfully at the panting Su Chen and then gracefully ascended the ring.
Su Chen recognized her; her name was Shen Yue, a doctor skilled in treating injuries.
The boxers, rather than being upset by their injuries, were often delighted, as most of the time they just wanted to visit the medical room to see her and talk to her.
Seeing Shen Yue step onto the ring to examine, not only did Su Chen have no objections, but Paul's expression also softened.
For him, the death of a boxer was a minor issue; the question was how to handle it so that everyone was convinced.
Shen Yue examined Mad Dog's eyes, then his throat wounds, and took the weapon 'small ball' from his hand. She pressed it lightly, and a sharp spike popped out. She then examined his wounds.
"He was struck with great force, shattering his larynx and breaking his cervical vertebrae."
Shen Yue said with a neutral expression.
After examining Mad Dog's wounds, she descended the ring and looked at the blood holes on Su Chen's arms.
"The situation is clear. The boxer violated the rules by bringing a weapon onto the ring, and Su Chen retaliated and killed him. However, I have one question: how could you counterattack and kill a C-level boxer with a weapon so quickly?"
She looked at the footage of Su Chen's ghostly movements during the counterattack and then at the blood holes on his arms, asking curiously.
This woman had a keen eye, immediately spotting the inconsistency.
If Su Chen truly had the strength and speed he later displayed, he wouldn't have been beaten so badly by Mad Dog, nor would his arms have been injured.
These were puncture wounds; if not careful, they could damage bones or meridians, rendering his hands useless. Faking it was impossible.
Su Chen said calmly, "I owe this to Group Leader Wang. If not for the pill he gave me before the sparring, I would have died at Mad Dog's hands." He nodded and smiled at Wang Tingwei.
"What pill?"
"XH1 Blood Pill."
"Impossible!" The crowd in the gym erupted in noise, looking at Wang Tingwei with strange expressions.
"This is a banned drug, a strong stimulant. Did Wang Tingwei want his second group sparring partners to use this drug to boost performance?"
Wang Tingwei was stunned, his face turning red. "No, I didn't... Su Chen, you're slandering me."
Su Chen said 'wronged,' "Group Leader, the footage has been seen by everyone. We can't hide it. You said Mad Dog was unstable and gave me the pill to protect me. I owe you my life."
Each sparring group had such drugs, which wasn't a secret. There was no evidence of who used them.
Boxers couldn't use them, but sparring partners could, as it was an unwritten rule.
Some boxers were too strong for sparring partners to handle, so using drugs was understandable.
However, with a death and the boxers knowing the inside story, the responsibility was significant.
Not only could Su Chen not bear it, but Wang Tingwei, as the one who provided the drug, could bear it even less.
From Paul's disdainful look, it was clear that Wang Tingwei's future was over, and being expelled from the gym was the least of it.
What chilled Wang Tingwei even more was the murderous look Iron Wolf gave him, as the death of his brother had now implicated him, and he might seek revenge at any time.
Wang Tingwei tried to argue, but Paul was already impatient. "We'll discuss your issue later. Appointing you as a sparring group leader was a mistake."
Hearing Su Chen's explanation, Shen Yue's eyes were peculiar. She looked at him with a half-smile and said, "Banned drug? Well said! Since the boxer violated the rules first, Su Chen's self-defense was excessive. He is still responsible, but he can pay compensation."
"This woman has a keen eye; she clearly doesn't believe I took a banned drug, but she didn't press further," Su Chen thought.
He had shifted the blame to Wang Tingwei to get back at him for the earlier incident.
"Revenge should not be delayed."
Since Wang Tingwei wanted to harm him, he had to retaliate. Su Chen was not a forgiving person.
Ever since Wang Tingwei deliberately arranged for him to spar with Mad Dog and insisted on not ringing the bell in a dangerous situation, Su Chen had known that today's sparring was a trap set by the fat man.
As for the reason, it might be because Su Chen's reputation as a 'Golden Sparring Partner' threatened his position, or for other reasons, but it didn't matter now.
"Compensation?"
Paul glanced at the worried Hei Zi, his brows furrowing as if he had an idea. Ignoring Iron Wolf's hopeful look, he suddenly smiled.
"Our Tianwu Boxing Gym is a large organization and doesn't lack money. Su Chen, as a sparring partner, can't afford it. Boxers are our most valuable assets. Since you killed Mad Dog, you will replace him in the ring."
"Mad Dog had fifteen more matches with the gym. You will complete them, and then this matter will be settled."
Su Chen's eyes narrowed. Paul's attitude was unusual. What was he planning? Was he making Su Chen fight in C-level matches?
"Impossible, Brother Chen is just a sparring partner. His strength doesn't even reach D-level. Fighting in C-level matches would be sending him to his death!" Hei Zi's face changed, and he shouted.
"Why not? He killed my brother Mad Dog. Who says he doesn't have C-level strength?"
Iron Wolf laughed. Hei Zi was right; based on Su Chen's earlier display, he didn't reach D-level.
Once on the ring, any boxer could kill him, and the revenge for his brother's death would be swift.
"Still no, it's too dangerous." Hei Zi's face turned red as he stepped forward. "If not, I'll complete these fifteen matches for him."
"Trouble!" Seeing Shen Yue's lips curve into a beautiful arc and Paul's smile, Su Chen knew Hei Zi had fallen into their trap.
He quickly pulled Hei Zi back, but Paul had already spoken.
"You can replace him for ten matches, but he must fight the remaining five himself. Heal his injuries and sign the contract."
After speaking, Paul didn't give them a chance to reconsider and left with the others.
Iron Wolf pointed at Su Chen, Hei Zi, and Wang Tingwei, saying, "You're finished."
He followed Paul out.
"Hei Zi, you shouldn't have helped me. Supervisor Paul clearly saw your skills and was trying to get you to sign a contract."
Seeing Paul's reaction, Su Chen understood why he was forcing him to sign a boxer's contract.
"The intention is not the wine."
When Paul and his group entered the hall, Hei Zi was fighting Iron Wolf intensely. Although he was slightly injured, he was only slightly at a disadvantage and didn't let Iron Wolf gain much.
Iron Wolf was a senior C-level boxer from the 'Death Training Camp.' Even fighting in B-level matches wasn't out of the question.
Looking at Hei Zi, a young man of 18 who had been with the gym for over two years, he was like a high school student in terms of age.
With such talent, he could become a new cash cow after a few more matches.
Hei Zi had walked right into Paul's trap, and Paul had taken the opportunity to ensnare him.
The five matches for Su Chen were likely to appease Iron Wolf.
A sparring partner who killed a boxer would replace him in the ring to pay the debt. No one could say Paul's handling was unfair.
As for the sparring partner's lack of strength and potential death in the ring, who cared?
Su Chen watched Paul leave, his eyes dark.
Even knowing these schemes, what could he do?
"Man is the butcher, and I am the fish!"
He blamed himself for being too weak.
