Chapter 12: Does Wife not like Ci Ci anymore
6 min read1,426 words
An Xingzhou bought quite a large amount of stuff in small and large bags. Two thirds of it was what Peng Ci had heavily requested that An Xingzhou buy, from pots, pans, bowls, and plates to small snacks——Yeah, not only did Peng Ci like eating rabbit snacks, but it also liked to eat human snacks, such as potato chips and spicy sticks. 1 Luckily it was a demon and not a little bunny, or else it probably wouldn’t live very long.
And this rabbit, who didn’t have the slightest self-awareness that it was freeloading, even urged An Xingzhou to buy a little blanket for it——it called it a “blanket”, but with Peng Ci’s body size, An Xingzhou went straight to look at little handkerchiefs.
An Xingzhou originally wanted to randomly buy a towel that cost ten yuan a piece and call it a day, but Peng Ci immediately retracted its paws after touching it, shaking its head crazily. “No, it’s hard!”
An Xingzhou found it annoying, but he was also afraid that Peng Ci would create more trouble. He had already learned of Peng Ci’s power in a short 12 hours and found a loophole. So he coaxed quietly, “It’s okay. It’ll get soft after washing. I’ll add softener for you, and it’ll smell nice. Okay?”
Peng Ci hesitated, the word “hesitation” written in large letters all over its tiny face. The little person in An Xingzhou’s mind was running wildly in circles, holding a flag in his hand. There was only one word on the flag: Yay!
In the next moment, Peng Ci turned its head firmly and squeezed back into the pocket, saying forcefully, “No! I still want a soft and fluffy and plush little blanket.”
The little ‘yay!’ person in An Xingzhou’s mind immediately fell down and bruised his face, the ‘yay!’ flag in his hand breaking in half.
An Xingzhou took out his phone, opened the weather app, zoomed in on the temperature and placed it in front of Peng Ci. “What do you want a warm and fluffy little blanket for in this kind of weather? Do you think the fur on your body isn’t warm enough?”
Peng Ci froze for a few seconds and closed its eyes neatly. “Ci Ci is blind. Ci Ci can’t see. Ci Ci just wants a little blanket!”
When the rabbit started acting shameless, even An Xingzhou was helpless.
It wasn’t as if he could scold it. If he scolded it, it would cry. He didn’t have the guts to hit it either. It felt as if using the slightest strength on the soft, tiny rabbit would squeeze it to death.
It even shamelessly called its own name in repetition to act coquettishly. Everyone who heard it would get goosebumps, but he just had to be such an adorable little bunny.

What did the little bunny do wrong? As long as the bunny bun was cute enough, then that bunny wouldn’t make mistakes! Even if it did, it was another person’s mistake!——This wasn’t what An Xingzhou said, it was what Peng Ci said itself.
An Xingzhou was so angry he could die, but what could he do? He could only scare this little bunny, who didn’t know good from bad.
An Xingzhou firmly turned around and walked towards the furniture section. He shuttled through the racks for quite a while before he finally found his target blanket in this hot summer weather.
He turned his head and looked around. Noticing that there was nobody around, he resolutely pulled Peng Ci out from his pocket and threw it towards the blanket.
Peng Ci rolled a few times on the blanket, its paws extended outwards and its stomach sticking to the little blanket. It puffed a few times in satisfaction, its paws slamming on the blanket loudly. “Wife, buy this one! This is comfortable!”
“Yeah, okay. I’ll buy it.” An Xingzhou was saying nice things unexpectedly. He stared at the three digit price tag, his voice extremely gentle. “Ci Ci, do you know why you think this is comfortable?”
Peng Ci trembled, its ears shaking a few times. It felt that Wife’s voice was so gwentle, but why did it feel shivers running down its back?
“I don’t know…” Peng Ci hummed. “Why?”
“Because, of course, returning to your own species’ side is comfortable!” An Xingzhou bent down with a smile to tell Peng Ci, “Little idiot. This is made of rabbit fur. Is it warm enough?”
Peng Ci: “?”
Peng Ci: “!”
Peng Ci’s tail and ears stood up one after another. The little blanket that it had just described as “so comfwortable, buy it” now seemed to have thorns. Peng Ci crawled and rolled to jump into An Xingzhou’s embrace, its entire rabbit body curling into a ball. It pushed its head into An Xingzhou’s embrace wildly, whimpering while pushing, “Wife, Wife! Sob sob sob! I’m scared!”
It completely forgot who was the one who brought it here and who it was that used the voice that was oozing gentleness to scare it. It only knew to grip firmly onto An Xingzhou with letting go subconsciously, finding a sense of security and safety with An Xingzhou.
An Xingzhou watched Peng Ci whimper while shaking its butt and pushing its head into his embrace, and his heart immediately softened. He was also a little regretful about not having been able to control himself in the moment. He clearly knew that Peng Ci was timid, but he still intentionally scared it.
“Okay, okay. Sorry, I was lying.” An Xingzhou reached out and patted Peng Ci’s butt lightly, feeling Peng Ci’s chubby butt bump against his palm a few times. His heart, which had just softened, had already melted into a puddle. “It’s not rabbit fur, it’s man-made fur. Don’t cry anymore.”
“Sob… rea… really… burp——” Peng Ci still didn’t have the courage to raise its head, extremely afraid that it would see that fur blanket upon turning its head. It buried its head in An Xingzhou’s embrace, saying muffedly. “Are you really lying to me sob… sob sob… Why does Wife want to lie to me? Does Wife not like Ci Ci anymore…”
“Sigh, sorry…” An Xingzhou felt like his clothes were going to be soaked from the tears and regretted his previous actions even more.
Though he didn’t know how old Peng Ci was exactly, its voice sounded like a little kid’s, and it appeared to be a few months old little bunny. It was probably a very young little demon. So why did he still bicker with it?
An Xingzhou rubbed Peng Ci’s trembling back, directly holding it up in front of himself and kissed Peng Ci’s little head with a “muah.” Then he rubbed it again. “Don’t cry anymore. I’ll apologize to you. I won’t scare you next time, okay?”
Peng Ci: “…”
Peng Ci had already frozen. A large snot bubble formed from its nose and exploded with a “pop,” exploding all over its face.
Peng Ci shook its head subconsciously and heard An Xingzhou laugh lightly. He hugged it, and it moved a few times, making faint noises. Then he pulled out a tissue from his pocket to gently wipe its face clean.
An Xingzhou raised Peng Ci’s chin, a little worried that he really scared Peng Ci very badly. Or else, why wouldn’t this rabbit not even be able to shut its jaws?
But he had just helped Peng Ci shut its jaws and felt the little bunny’s chin start to tremble lightly, its molars rubbing against each other——it was grinding its teeth again.
Peng Ci’s eyes were half-open like it was on drugs, grinding its teeth while humming, “This time, it’s not me ambushing… It’s Wife who took the initiative to kiss me… K-kissed me… Heh heh… kissed my head… m-muah…”
An Xingzhou: “…”
The gentleness and pampering that had just filled An Xingzhou’s heart completely disappeared without a trace in a second.
He gritted his teeth, thinking, ‘This rabbit… really has the potential to become a master at making one jump back and forth between love and hate!’
