Chapter 27: The son and the husband have the same name

6 min read1,500 words

An Xingzhou brought Peng Ci over to eat after he finished comforting Peng Ci.

Peng Ci was still eating its rabbit feed in a well-behaved manner, but ever since An Xingzhou fed him the braised ribs, it wasn’t happy with just eating rabbit feed anymore. Peng Ci had to eat human food mixed together with rabbit feed.

An Xingzhou didn’t know if rabbits could eat like that, but Peng Ci was a demon. Plus, it had sworn that it could, so An Xingzhou could only make some more food when cooking to satisfy Peng Ci’s gluttony.

Normally, Peng Ci would nestle in An Xingzhou’s arms with its stomach facing up after eating and insist on having An Xingzhou rub its stomach for digestion. But today it acted uncharacteristically: after it had finished eating and An Xingzhou had wiped its mouth, Peng Ci immediately climbed onto his shoulder, patting his face with its little paws. “Wife! Sweet co-op!”

An Xingzhou: “…”

It was as if Peng Ci had gotten addicted to it even before playing. Wouldn’t it be even worse in the future?

An Xingzhou planned to possibly limit Peng Ci’s Internet time as he walked towards the study with Peng Ci.

He started the live stream after confirming that Peng Ci wouldn’t show up on camera. It hadn’t even been a minute when a large number of fans flooded into the live stream room.

[Xing Xing’s starting the live stream so early today?]

[Xing Xing, I’m here!]

[? Where’s Xing Xing? Why is there only an empty chair?]

[Will you do the live stream with your son Ci today, Xing Xing?!]

[Where’s Xing Xing?]

[Wait, guys, turn up the volume! Xing Xing is talking!]

[I hear it… It’s my first time hearing him talk so gently! Which dog is he talking to?!]

If Peng Ci had seen this comment, it definitely would’ve cried out, “Ci Ci isn’t a dog! Ci Ci is a bunny bun!”

But Peng Ci didn’t see it, nor did An Xingzhou.

An Xingzhou was currently seated cross-legged on the floor. He clicked the game on Peng Ci’s computer and explained the keys one by one.

Peng Ci squatted next to the keyboard, its little head nodding over and over again in a very serious manner. Its round, large eyes followed An Xingzhou’s fingers.

“This is the key for going forwards. This is for going backwards. This is for going left, and this is for going right.” An Xingzhou pointed them out while talking, and Peng Ci nodded along, its long ears shaking back and forth, and hummed unclearly in response.

Seeing Peng Ci learning seriously, An Xingzhou couldn’t resist poking Peng Ci’s little head and teasing it, “Can you tell your left from your right?”

“I can!” Peng Ci stood up, puffing up its chest very proudly, and then raised its little left pawsie. “This is left!”

After Peng Ci said that, it lowered its left paw and then raised its little right paw to wave at An Xingzhou. With a “hmph”, it raised its chin. “This is right! Ci Ci is very smart! Don’t look down on me, Wife!”

“Uh-huh. You’re smart. I’m not looking down on you.” An Xingzhou smiled as he pinched Peng Ci’s paws and put them back on the keyboard. “Then try pressing the keys.”

Peng Ci retracted its claws carefully and pressed each of the four keys in turn, even repeating “Up, down, left, and right” to have An Xingzhou confirm.

“Good.” An Xingzhou rubbed Peng Ci’s head and continued explaining the other moves.

Peng Ci was pretty fast at memorizing things and remembered everything An Xingzhou taught in around ten minutes. But being all talk and no action was useless; they had to put it in action.

An Xingzhou stood up and lowered his head to look at Peng Ci. “Then we’ll play games now?”

Peng Ci didn’t act coquettishly in a rare exception and nodded very sternly. “Okay! I’m ready for sweet co-oping!”

An Xingzhou saw Peng Ci lay down with its front paws on the keyboard, its hind legs on the mouse, looking like it was ready for action, and was amused again. When he sat in front of the camera, there was still a smile on his face.

By now, the comments had gone crazy. Question marks filled the entire screen, all asking who An Xingzhou was talking to just now. Peng Ci spoke softly, so they could only hear that there was someone talking and responding to An Xingzhou, unsure of what the exact content was.

An Xingzhou coughed into his fist and didn’t answer the questions in the comments but logged into the game without a single word, sending a friend request to Peng Ci’s account.

By this time, his screen was already shared in the live stream, and the fans very clearly saw him sending the friend request. His sharp-eyed fans immediately grasped the main point.

[This is a new account though?? Is Xing Xing carrying a newbie? Or is a godly player switching to a new account?]

[Wasn’t Xing Xing teaching that person the keys just now? That’s not the person, right?]

[That boy, whose voice was clear and a little childish? Who is he?! Sounds like he’s seventeen or eighteen!]

[Y’all, I have a daring idea]

[I have a daring idea too. May I ask if he’s younger or older?]

[Why is this person called Ci Ci too? Does this mean that his child’s name was based on his name?]

An Xingzhou turned and looked towards Peng Ci. Seeing Peng Ci press the mouse with its hind leg and accept the friend request, he turned back and invited Peng Ci into the team.

After making the team, he took the time to glance at the comments. Not wanting to break his promise, he straightforwardly opened his mouth to respond, “Mhm. It’s him. Good thinking.”

The screen was once again drowned by question marks and exclamation marks.

An Xingzhou quickly switched back to the game screen and stopped looking at the live stream screen. He didn’t wear earphones either to prevent himself from being unable to hear Peng Ci calling out for him. Since they were sitting right across from each other, he just turned off his in-game microphone and turned to Peng Ci to say “Don’t turn on your mic because there’ll be echoing. Follow right behind me, understand?”

“Understood!” Peng Ci’s entire rabbit body was tense, and it didn’t even dare to turn its head as it stared at the game screen unwaveringly. “I’m ready!”

“Mhm.” After seeing Peng Ci’s response, An Xingzhou couldn’t help laughing to the point that his hands were trembling. When he pressed “Start,” his hand slipped and clicked on multiplayer.

An Xingzhou: “…”

Peng Ci: “?”

Peng Ci had seen An Xingzhou play co-op. Seeing four names next to each other, it immediately noticed something was wrong. This wasn’t the sweet co-op session it had imagined!

"

"

“Wife!” Peng Ci still had its paw on the keyboard and its leg on the mouse, not daring to move it away. It turned suddenly and hollered, “Where’s the sweet co-op you promised?!”

“My hand slipped…” An Xingzhou was extremely afraid that Peng Ci would cry and hurriedly comforted it. “We’ll definitely do it in the next round. Just practice for now, okay?”

Peng Ci had wanted to say something, but An Xingzhou’s gentle “okay?” mesmerized it so much that its soul left its body and its hind leg kicked on the table helplessly. “O-okay… Everything Wife says is right!”

An Xingzhou marked a location and sent Peng Ci a follow invite, the other two jumping with them in the end. An Xingzhou didn’t mind, and the three people, plus one rabbit, jumped to the same location.

They were parachuting on their side, but the livestream had blown up on the other hand.

[What did I hear? Wife?! That Ci Ci called Xing Xing “Wife”!!]

[And Xing Xing didn’t refute him either! His voice was so gentle too! Gentle! Can you believe it?! Gentle!]

[His rabbit’s name is the same as his husband’s nickname. What sort of beautiful love is this?]

[That person’s voice sounds so nice! He’s probably a hottie too!]

[He’s younger, right? He’s younger!]

But among these comments of everyone shipping like crazy, a different kind of comment flashed past.

[Xingyu is mine. How can he date someone else? I’m his boyfriend. I love him so much! It’s impossible for him to be together with someone else! He’s mine! I’ll live at his house, hug him, and kiss him… He’s mine…]

Author’s Note:

It’s here~ I wrote about some of the comments in the chapter, not too much. I don’t know if everyone’s willing to read it. If everyone doesn’t really like it, just say it, so I can do my best to avoid it~

I wrote about the comments in this chapter because I wanted to make the foreshadowing from before more obvious!
