Chapter 3

Dong Yin had been pregnant for about four months. Last time Qin Fang came back home it wasn’t obvious, and no one told him that there was a new member coming to the family.

The dinner table did seem rather peaceful. Jian Muyang was mischievous as always, and Dong Yin, again, was gentle and kept a light conversation going. But, for Qin Fang, ever since he started attending university he had barely eaten at home, so he still felt a little awkward sitting there.

During this time, Jian Mingtao asked Qin Fang why he didn’t drive his car. Qin Fang replied that he had come straight after he finished class and hadn’t gone back to get his car.

Jian Mingtao asked, “Do you not like it anymore? If you see a model you want you can tell me, we can change your car.”

“No need,” Qin Fang smiled, “I’m fine with mine , every type of the car is the same, honestly.”

“No, it’s not the same,” Dong Yin ladled for some soup for Qin Fang, “The youths right now I like this type of stuff, and I recently saw a model that I felt was suitable for you, but I don’t know if you would like it.”

“Thanks,” Qin Fang said, “But I really don’t need it.”

That night, Qin Fang didn’t return to his school dorm, instead sleeping at the Jian home. Jian Muyang went to sleep early, and after he did so Jian Mingtao and Dong Yin also returned to their room, leaving Qin Fang in his own bedroom, playing the guitar. After a bit, his bedroom door creaked open a crack, and while Qin Fang did not stop his fingers, he did look over.

Jian Muyang poked his head in through the crack, smiling at Qin Fang.

Qin Fang motioned him in with his chin.

Jian Muyang, in his pajamas, ran in and slithered under the covers of Qin Fang’s bed. Qin Fang, smiling, asked, “Does the young master wish to sleep in my room?”

“Yes, I want to sleep with you,” Jian Muyang smiled as he laid down straight, “Sing a song for me.”

“What should I sing?” Qin Fang asked.

Jian Muyang thought about it before replying, “Sing that song that you used to use to get me to sleep?”

Qin Fang let out a chuckle as he returned his guitar to its case. He lay down on the bed on his side, singing for Jian Muyang. Jian Muyang’s eyes were really quite pretty, and since kids fall asleep fast, Qin Fang hadn’t even finished the song before Jian Muyang’s fan-like eyelashes stopped fanning.

Qin Fang patted his head; the kid’s short hair tickled his palm.

Since he returned home for a meal, the second day after Qin Fang left, he received a new payment in his card. When Qin Fang saw the payment notification he laughed, simply throwing his phone on the table. After the car repair place called him to pick up his car, Qin Fang told his roommates, “Don’t go to the cafeteria for dinner tonight, I’ll bring something back.”

Shen Dengke peered down from the front of his bunk, “What are you bringing?”

Qin Fang replied, “Well, I’ll see what’s on the way, but it’ll definitely be better than the cafeteria.”

Shen Dengke made a heart gesture with hands and blinked, “Love you.”

“Don’t love me, you have your Chen Ke to love,” Qin Fang opened the door and walked out, “Don’t forget to tell him that I’m bringing back stuff so no need to get food.”

“Got it!” When Shen Dengke finished his reply Qin Fang had already closed the door, so he just immediately got out his phone to send a message to Chen Ke:

[Boss Ke, don’t eat at the second cafeteria today, our young master is feeding us.]

His car was nicely cleaned, and with some new wax it seemed like new. However, maybe it was a psychological effect, but when Qin Fang seated himself in the car he still thought that there was a smell of paint.

On the way back, Qin Fang got some take out from a Hunan restaurant, but when he was returning to the dorm Hua Tong called him, “Are you back?”

Qin Fang opened speaker mode, “Yes, I’m back.”

“Eat together tonight?” Hua Tong asked.

“No, I’m eating with my roommates tonight,” Qin Fang replied, but then he asked, “I have the food, do you want to come to our dorm to eat?”

“Sure,” Hua Tong replied, nearly without thinking, “Then I’ll get some beer and maybe order some kebabs?”

“Whatever you want,” Qin Fang replied, “Maybe have Dengke drink with you.”

Hua Tong was familiar with everyone in their dorm anyways, since he often came by to steal some food and drinks as well. As with these boys, they usually all could interact with each other well, since after a few meals together and some beer everyone became friends. Hua Tong actually liked eating with Qin Fang’s roommates, since they could drink with him, unlike Qin Fang, who basically didn’t drink at all.

Qin Fang didn’t like drinking any type of alcohol since he had low tolerance. He disliked the feeling of having a little too much to drink, so he almost never touched it, instead preferring being awake.

When Hua Tong and his roommates were drinking and talking, Qin Fang just sat to the side, playing with his phone. It was only then that he remembered that after their last meal together, he did not contact Gong Qi.

Gong Qi also didn’t contact him.

Next Thursday would be Gong Qi’s birthday. Really, they were quite close in terms of their relationship, and they should be finalizing it around her birthday. But, after the week’s events, Qin Fang did feel a little annoyed and didn’t feel like initiating any conversation without prompt.

Maybe it was because he was used to being single, so after stuffing himself full Qin Fang felt more comfortable just listening to his friends drink and talk.

“When do we go find that Zhou… Zhou what again?” Hua Tong asked Qin Fang.

Qin Fang looked up from his phone but didn’t speak.

“I swear, that person must have some type of problem,” Hua Tong lamented, expression puzzled. “I took a look into this guy’s social circle at school, and really it doesn’t have anything to do with you. His girlfriend is not Gong Qi either, really, maybe this guy has a damaged nerve or something?”

Qin Fang picked apart a salted boiled peanut, “I’ll deal with it later.”

“Whenever you guys go remember to call us up as well.” Chen Ke piped.

Qin Fang actually really did want to wait for a bit, since it had been really warm recently, causing him to feel agitated. He didn’t want to deal with these annoying things just yet.

And plus, he didn’t want to be the one to go find someone and ask for an explanation, since that was really passive. Whoever the opposing side was and why they splattered paint over his car, Qin Fang didn’t want to ask. He preferred them to tell him.

So, the next Monday, right after the Chemistry Institute students had finished their classes, their dorms had a large uproar.

The class representative of the Polymer specialty class got glue poured all over his dorm. The floor, the bed, the closet door, desk and computer were all covered with this glue. It wasn’t fast drying glue, but it had a considerable amount of stickiness, causing the entire dorm to be in complete disorder. Point was, it was done in such a way that people couldn’t figure out how to clean it, making them go crazy.

Qin Fang just stood at the entrance to the dorms, waiting for Zhou Siming to come down. But, Zhou Siming didn’t come down even after quite some time, so perhaps he was first thinking about cleaning up or he didn’t want to go confront Qin Fang.

Well, it’s fine if he didn’t see him during his wait. Qin Fang was not about to waste his time waiting. With his bucket of glue, they definitely couldn’t resolve this until after they met, so Qin Fang just resolved to wait.

Qin Fang, with his hands stuffed in his pockets, started walking out of the dorm complex. Since it was when classes were letting out, students were coming back, and as Qin Fang was looking down thinking about something, someone bumped into his shoulder.

It actually hurt, so Qin Fang cursed inwardly before he raised his gaze, his eyebrows knitted together with impatience.

The other person also had somewhat of a similar expression as him, the ends of their eyes creased in unfriendliness. As the four eyes met, Qin Fang raised his eyebrow as he inwardly lamented at the coincidence.

Qin Fang knew this person.

Hua Tong did figure out Zhou Siming’s social circle at school, and this person was on the list, probably pretty close to Zhou Siming. As for why Qin Fang remembered this guy, it was because of his face. He was a pretty handsome guy, but with quite the “bad guy” aura; if he glared at someone more timid they would probably be scared half to death.

But Qin Fang was not a timid person at all.

So the two just stared at each other, and neither of them retracted their gaze. Qin Fang let the corners of his lips hook up a little before saying, “I’m Qin Fang, sophomore in Global Commerce.”

The other didn’t say anything as he took out his headphones and started winding them around his phone.

“You can come find me anytime.” Qin Fang’s eyes swept over the other twice before he said calmly, “Your Fang Ge will wait for you.”

Uwah~ first meeting between the two and that scene from the introduction!
