Nothing bad really happened.
Director Jiang gave him a disciplinary warning.
Oreo and Lu Hao both receive one.
As for the reason, it was a mystery.
Anyway, it was handled like this. Who the fuck knows if it was to ‘suppress the matter, or ‘shield’ someone.
Oreo felt that he had become more broad-minded.
They say ‘tolerance lessens worries, and dark colors can cover light colors’.
Until you lost everything, you’re unaware of how lucky you were when you had only lost a little. Until hope was completely extinguished, you won’t understand how foolish your struggles were. Was that the meaning?
Exiting the office, Aunt Zhang Bi stumbled. Oreo wanted to steady her but Zhang Bi took a step back with a disgusted expression.
Did I disgust you? I’m so sorry.
But Oreo still maintained his weak and helpless appearance. There was even a hint of shame on his face.
“If your parents knew how you’re like now, I reckon they would pass away from disgust.” Zhang Bi said.
If my parents knew that the relatives who always asked for money weren’t even feeding their child and were still pretentiously scolding him, they would be more disgusted, Aunty.
Oreo, however, still acted meekly.
Lu Hao saw their farce between relatives and snorted coldly.
Oreo dared to tell Director Jiang about the things they did and embarrassed Teacher Xue. Just wait, he’ll make him pay.
However, this was the first time Oreo dared to be so unyielding.
Throughout the year, they had bullied Oreo to be without a temper and without dignity. He thought Oreo couldn’t do anything else other than cry.
Today, he was a bit weird.
Even so, who would help him?
The students in this school were just here for the experience. Even without studying, they could automatically reach the finish line. As for the teachers, they just put on teacherly airs when they had to before going home to drink tea.
Oreo had a miserable appearance but he was thinking about other things in his heart.
Even if he wouldn’t admit it to anyone else, he still admitted to himself that Gu Xin’s kindness towards him had moved him.
His Aunt and Uncle always pestered him to drop out of school and start working. Although he was bullied at school every day, he still persisted in going. A reason was that he couldn’t let go of his past dreams and another was because he didn’t want to part from him.
Until he learned of the things Gu Xin did to him.
He was very hurt that Gu Xin turned against him.
However, in his heart, there was another vague emotion.
It was excitement.
Gu Xin said he couldn’t stand him.
Does that mean he had been paying attention to him?
To round it up, it would mean he had been watching him.
Oreo looked at the stretching corridor. The sunlight was coming through the window. The doors to some classrooms were opened while some were closed.
Ever since his parents went to prison, his feeling of inferiority followed him like a dark shadow that blocked all light.
He didn’t dare to say ‘no’ to the world nor did he have the ability to resist.
Teacher Xue’s face was worldly and ugly with an obese body and bloated cheeks; perhaps ugly people liked to flock together, that’s why Teacher Xue liked Lu Hao so much. Lu Hao was also fat and ugly. Oreo was always curious, would they really feel better by being together? Wouldn’t they just look like two meat mountains? What did Zhang Wenqi see in Lu Hao?
But Zhang Wenqi, that girl.
She really was a □□.
Oreo’s fingers twitched.
Aunt and Uncle left the school. When class was about to start in the afternoon, the students began to return from outside.
In groups of twos or threes; they talked and joked.
Lu Hao brought the students of Class Five and was looking for him in the corridor.
Oreo was originally hiding underneath a rostrum, but after being found out, he ran into the corridor.
He wanted to run to the locust tree.
But someone tripped him.
A crowd started to kick him and step on his back.
He saw the feet of the person who tripped him—he was wearing a pristine pair of black converse.
Gu Xin smiled faintly at him for the first time. He was so good-looking when he smiled.
Oreo raised his head briefly before it was sent back to the floor by a foot.
It felt like his cheekbone was about to shatter.
The feets stepping on him suddenly paused.
Oreo heard a girl’s clear voice:
“Ge-Ge, don’t hit him anymore.”
Oreo lifted his head. It was the transfer student, Luo Ya.
Luo Ya stood in front of him.
“Ah Ya, didn’t you see the video Lu Hao sent this morning? He’s a MB. He’s dirty, you should stay away from him.” Zhang Wenqi grabbed Luo Ya and wanted to pull her away.
“What dirty or not, he’s a person. How could you guys be like this?” Luo Ya shouting herself hoarse like this keenly resembled when he was getting beat up for the first time. He had said the same words in the same way:
How could you guys be like this?
Hu Lao wasn’t too familiar with Luo Ya. He gave her a cold look and said: “Move aside.”
Luo Ya shielded Oreo and refused to move. A few students forcibly dragged her away and held her to the side.
Lu Hao stepped on his back. Oreo stifled a groan.
Gu Xin crouched down and looked at Oreo. Oreo finally managed to open his eyes after a struggle.
“You have no choice.” Gu Xin placed his hand by his mouth and whispered to Oreo.
“I know.” Oreo answered in a weak voice.
The class bell rang.
Lu Hao put down his foot and sneered: “You were so brave today, huh? Did you grow a spine?”
Oreo didn’t answer. Lu Hao kicked him hard again and went back to class with the other students.
Gu Xin’s hand moved like he wanted to help Oreo up. However, in the end, he didn’t move.
Oreo crawled up. There was blood running down from his temple. He wiped it casually but it made the blood trickle even harder.
He, ah, he wasn’t really a strong-willed person.
He looked at Lu Hao in the distance.
Oreo’s parents raised him lovingly like a little young master. He was accustomed to speaking gently and softly and if he ever met a bad person, he always tried to see them in a positive light. This kind of person was supposed to be very warm but when he was met with difficulties, he became an accomplice in hurting himself.
Oreo felt like he was going to become abnormal.
“Can you tell me how you convinced Director Jiang to let me stay in school?” Oreo was like always. His voice was soft and sticky.
Director Jiang this person, was lazy, cowardly, and incompetent. Although Lu Hao wasn’t like Gu Xin, the son of true bigwigs, his family was fairly influential. Added to how Teacher Xue hated him but favored Lu Hao, Oreo didn’t think he would be able to remain in school.
“I have a little something on her.” Gu Xin answered but his gaze never left Oreo.
“So it’s like that.” Oreo lowered his head. A malicious storm brewed in his eyes, but when he lifted his head again, his eyes were nothing but pure, “But I don’t want to take beatings anymore.”
I don’t want to be hit anymore, I can choose to leave. Anyhow, it would make that Aunt and Uncle of mine delighted.
This was what Oreo meant.
Oreo saw it clearly. A trace of anxiety flashed through Gu Xin’s eyes.
Gu Xin, you’re too easy to guess.
“You don’t have to endure the beatings anymore.” Gu Xin used his customary cold tone to spit out each word.
I see your agitation.
Oreo obtained a fraction of satisfaction. It endlessly aroused his wicked desire for mischief.
He lowered his head with grievances. The blood flowed from his temple and mixed with his tears. Blood trickled down bit by bit, “The bleeding doesn’t seem to be stopping.” Oreo’s voice sounded even softer and sweeter.
Gu Xin, do you love to watch other people slap me before helping me apply medicine?
To watch me cry from gratitude and then be gratified when you have monopolized my heart?
