Ji Naitang walked back with the bottle of wine. The phone in his pocket rang. He took it out. It was his mother again.
He hung up the call and turned off his phone. He couldn’t help but sneer. She called so frequently that it must mean that old man was really dying.
Although it was retribution, he still felt that retribution came too late. That old man lived for so many more years.
“Brother, if you know that he’s dying, will you be happy?” Ji Naitang’s voice was low, heavy, and a bit choked. He looked up at the stars in the night sky. “I will die too. When I catch Zhou Qiang, I will go keep you company, okay?”
He stood silently for a while. He heard footsteps and looked over. Cen Muqi was walking towards him.
The sadness in Ji Naitang’s eyes slowly dissipated when he saw Cen Muqi. It was like a man struggling in the darkness and suddenly saw light. It was his light coming towards him.
Cen Muqi stood in front of him. He frowned as he asked, “Where have you been?”
Ji Naitang waved the bottle in his hands. “I went to the bar to buy wine. Didn’t you say that you wanted this wine, CEO Cen?”
“Little Liu bought it back already. Where’s your phone?”
“My phone is dead.”
Assistant Liu emerged from behind Cen Muqi and said, “I saw you follow an unfamiliar man. I thought that you would be in danger, so I quickly went to find CEO Cen.”
Ji Naitang’s eyes flashed. He seemed to be thinking about how much Assistant Liu had seen, but he seemed very innocent on the surface. “Ah, that’s because I didn’t know how to get to the bar, so I asked someone for directions.”
Assistant Liu smiled in embarrassment. “So you were asking for directions. But Young Master Ji was smoking. I haven’t seen that before, so I thought you were being threatened.”
Assistant Liu played it down, but the so-called “being threatened” was just an excuse. If he was really there, he certainly would have seen Ji Naitang smoking of his own will.
And the key point wasn’t whether Ji Naitang had smoked, but it was Ji Naitang’s demeanor at the time.
Ji Naitang looked surprised. He thought and replied, “I don’t smoke. Assistant Liu, you saw wrong. I like eating lollipops. I was eating a lollipop. The person who told me the directions was smoking. So, maybe you saw wrong through the smoke?”
Assistant Liu was startled. He had been far away and it was dark under the tree, so he really wasn’t sure. Cen Muqi said, “It’s good that you’re fine. Everything is unfamiliar here, so don’t run around.”
Ji Naitang smiled sweetly. “Are you worried about me, CEO Cen?”
Cen Muqi ruffled his hair. “Little kids are not allowed to go to the bar.”
“I’m twenty-two years old. How am I little?”
Cen Muqi’s eyes floated to Ji Naitang’s crotch. Ji Naitang glared angrily at him and muttered, “How is it little? It’s clearly a very normal size. Are you that amazing just because you’re big?!”
Cen Muqi chuckled. Assistant Liu was so embarrassed that he wanted to find a crack to hide in. What kind of strange conversation was this?!!!
“Okay. Dinner isn’t over yet. Go eat.” Cen Muqi picked Ji Naitang’s hand up. Ji Naitang smiled as he looked at their intertwined hands.
Assistant Liu calmed down and started to follow, but his phone rang. He unlocked it and took a look. It was a message from Cen Muqi. Assistant Liu looked up doubtfully at Cen Muqi and Ji Naitang who had walked far away already. CEO Cen was so close by, so why was he sending him a message?
He opened the message doubtfully. Go to the bar and find out what happened.
