Yang Kang didn’t know how he walked out of Peach Source Villa. It seemed that Aunt Song had said something to him, but he didn’t hear it clearly.
At the end of July, at 11:30 in the morning, the sun shone fiercely on the ground, and the scorching heat made him feel suffocated. He wanted to take a taxi, but unfortunately, it seemed that all the taxis in Jinling City had disappeared, or perhaps even the taxis couldn’t withstand the heat and had gone to find a shady spot to cool off.
At the bus stop, which was usually crowded, there was not a single person now.
Yang Kang stood by the roadside, staring at the road that was brightly lit by the sun, lost in thought.
"Hey, young man, do you want a ride on such a hot day?" At that moment, a car slowed down beside him, the window rolled down slowly, and a refined middle-aged man called out to him.
Yang Kang was taken aback and instinctively turned his head to look.
"Get in!" The middle-aged man had already stepped on the brake and called out.
Yang Kang didn’t know how he opened the car door and got in. The air conditioning in the car was set to a very low temperature, and as soon as he sat down, he shivered.
Then, he felt extremely uncomfortable, leaning against the car and covering his mouth, coughing hard. The coughing made him gradually lose consciousness.
When Yang Kang woke up again, it was already evening. The sunlight shone through the large, clear windows, casting a golden glow in the room.
On the black silk curtains, golden dragon patterns were embroidered. A large leather sofa was placed by the window, but it was snow white. Even from a distance, Yang Kang could tell that the leather was of very high quality, usually used for clothing, not for sofas.
There wasn’t much furniture in the room, but it exuded a luxurious and elegant atmosphere. The room was also spacious and comfortable.
"Where am I?" Yang Kang wondered, why was he here?
In a daze, he remembered that he had been ridiculed by Yin Qing and left Peach Source Villa, wanting to take a taxi, but due to the scorching heat, he couldn’t find a single taxi. Later, he became a bit confused and seemed to have been offered a ride by someone?
It was a middle-aged man driving a dark blue Mercedes, dressed luxuriously, exuding an air of elegance and nobility. He didn’t know how he had ended up in the car in a daze.
After that, he couldn’t remember anything.
He must have been at the kind man’s house, he thought. He had gotten into his car.
Thinking of this, Yang Kang scolded himself and hurriedly got up. On the bedside table, he saw his wallet and phone.
He quickly gathered his things and stood up. He needed to thank the kind man and say goodbye; he couldn’t just stay here.
Yang Kang opened the bedroom door and saw a woman in a white shirt standing by the door.
"Who are you?" Yang Kang was a bit stunned.
"Master Yang has woken up," the woman said hurriedly as she saw him get up. "Our master is in the study. He instructed that if Master Yang wakes up, please go to the study."
Yang Kang was a bit confused, feeling his head to see if he had a fever. Could it be that he was so angry and humiliated by Yin Qing that he died and was transported to another time?
Why did this woman speak in such a classical and refined manner? Master? Study? And Master Yang?
But looking at the woman’s attire and the room’s furnishings, everything was clearly modern, not ancient.
"What’s your name? I’m Yang Kang," Yang Kang asked tentatively.
The woman couldn’t help but bite her lip and smiled shyly. "I’m Baoqin. Please follow me, Master Yang." Baoqin led Yang Kang down the corridor.
Yang Kang was even more confused. The woman’s name sounded very much like an ancient maid’s name.
Soon, Baoqin brought him to the study door. "Master, Master Yang has woken up."
"Please have him come in," a refined and gentle voice from inside the study said. If Yang Kang hadn’t heard wrong, it was the kind man who had given him a ride.
"Yes!" Baoqin replied and invited Yang Kang in.
Yang Kang stepped into the study and was momentarily stunned. The study was large, and as expected, it was filled with books. The bookshelves against the walls were stacked with thick books.
At a large desk, a middle-aged man was leaning back in a chair, holding a book. He looked up when he saw Yang Kang enter.
Yang Kang smiled awkwardly. This middle-aged man was indeed the one who had offered him a ride.
"Please sit!" The middle-aged man pointed to a chair beside him.
"Thank you!" Yang Kang thanked him and sat down, hurriedly saying, "Thank you very much, sir."
"Ha..." The middle-aged man couldn’t help but laugh at his words.
Yang Kang felt a bit awkward. He and this middle-aged man were ultimately strangers, and he didn’t know what to say.
The middle-aged man seemed to be in the same situation, just looking at him without speaking.
The atmosphere in the study was somewhat heavy. Yang Kang wanted to say goodbye and leave, but he couldn’t just leave without saying anything to the man who had saved him.
"May I ask for your honorable surname?" Yang Kang asked, imitating the refined manner of speaking he had heard from the maid.
"I am Tang, as in Cheng Tang," Tang Chen said, seeming very pleased. "My name is Tang Chen."
"Tang Chen?" Yang Kang was stunned. This name?
"It’s these two characters," Tang Chen, realizing the misunderstanding, took a piece of paper and a pen from the desk, wrote his name, and even included a phone number, handing it to him. "My name and phone number!"
"Hello, I’m Yang Kang," Yang Kang smiled. "The Yang Kang from 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes'!" As he spoke, he took out his phone and dialed Tang Chen’s number. Tang Chen had beautiful handwriting, fitting his name.
However, as he dialed the number, he realized that he had already called this number around 1:00 PM.
"I used your phone to call you," Tang Chen couldn’t help but laugh when he saw this. "I also know your name. I was going to check your phone to inform your parents, so they wouldn’t worry, but I couldn’t find any contact numbers that might be your parents, so I brought you back here."
The bitter feeling crept back into Yang Kang’s heart.
"Thank you!" Yang Kang hurriedly thanked him again. "Mr. Tang, I’m here to say goodbye!"
"You’re leaving?" Tang Chen was clearly disappointed.
"Yes, I’ve already caused you so much trouble," Yang Kang hurriedly said. He and Tang Chen were ultimately strangers. Tang Chen had just picked him up on the road and brought him home out of kindness. Could he stay here any longer?
