Chapter 35
“He said, Tian Su was a chess piece Wu Yanfu planted within the Yue Yin Palace. He was his spy and would only follow his orders.”
“What?” Bai Tan stood up, “Spy?”
If he only followed Wu Yanfu’s orders, then why would he come to save him?
If he really was Wu Yanfu’s spy, then why did he fight with Wu Yanfu later?
And was even greatly injured by Wu Yanfu while trying to protect him, then was also made into a yao ren…
None of this made much sense.
Bai Tan couldn’t find an answer, even after hundreds of thoughts, “Then, how much do you know about the death of Tian Su?”
Gui Yu’er shook her head, “How he died, I only know a little, but not many details. But, I did hear once from Fu Lu that Tian Su had too much ambition, so even though he was a chess piece planted within the Yue Yin Palace, he wanted to loot a burning house and climb up to the gongzhu spot. Such a two-faced and disloyal person, his death wasn’t one that needs to be pitied.”
“Two-faced, disloyal…” Bai Tan pondered over those words, and a bit of suspicion grew in him. This sense of suspicion was like white ants, that dug down under layers of ice-cold dirt, gnawing on some things that he was certain about without doubt, but was sealed away by him.
He remembered the promise that person made, saying that he would take him out of there. The feeling of being held tightly in the other’s embrace, the clear sound that rung when he shot out the sharp arrow. The blood that had stained him once the other fell down, it was all so real.
Then why would Fu Lu say that he was two-faced? What was hidden behind the scenes?
Could it be…when the other had saved him that year, it wasn’t out of real kind intentions but, because of other plans?
Thinking deeper and deeper like this, Bai Tan became more and more suspicious.
If he was that old demon’s spy, then when he had saved him that year, could it have been that old demon’s order?
As that thought popped up, it stirred his heart up and made him uneasy, and a great amount of sweat appeared on his back.
No, there was no way. It was the old demon who had pushed him into hell with his own hands, why would he turn around and save him?
Gui Yu’er saw him keeping silent and not saying a word, so she added on, “But the words of Fu Lu can’t always be trusted. He is vicious and cruel, full of lies, and it was because I had trusted him too much that I ended up in such a dreadful state.”
Bai Tan relaxed inside, as if a huge weight had been lifted off his chest, “Right, right, his words are really contradicting, they definitely can’t be trusted.”
“Oh, also, Aunt, why does the alluring bone squirm around at times? Almost as if it’s a foxtail, it’s really weird.”
“When did your alluring bone move before?” Gui Yu’er showed concern on her face, “The alluring bone was originally transformed from the root of the fox tail bone, if oneself has feelings for another, or if it feels the emotion from the other person, then it will move. It is said that there is a slight difference of one having feelings themselves, compared to the latter, but I haven’t met another person with true feelings myself, so I can’t tell the difference either.”
There was no way he’d have feelings for someone who didn’t even show their face, so that means, the beast masked man had feelings for him?
Bai Tan touched his alluring bone, this bane, how good would it be if he could just get rid of it?
It was all because of this bane that even after the old demon had died, he still would never be able to leave emotions and cut off desires.
At midnight, Bai Tan returned to his own cabin, he took quieter steps on purpose. He stuck his ear to the door, trying to hear noises inside. There were no movements inside the room at all, it was quiet enough for the sound of a needle dropping on the ground to be heard. He opened the door a little bit and peeked through the thin crack, the light hadn’t been lit inside the room, so it was pitch-black and the yao ren was still in the bathing tub, not moving at all.
Tonight, he definitely had to try the other out.
After making the decision, Bai Tan pushed the door open and walked in.
“Master?” The yao ren turned his head upon hearing the sound.
Bai Tan gave an “mn” in reply, then lit the candle, he slowly walked up to the other’s side and lifted his head up by pinching onto his chin. He stared at the yao ren without looking away at all for a while, then used the move “Yan Shi Mei Xing” and mumbled, “Tian Su?”
If this yao ren could be defiant against his Arts of Enchantment like that beast masked man, then he was even more suspicious.
Inside that pair of narrow, long blue eyes, the pupils dilated slowly, and his sight of focus spread out steadily.
Bai Tan reached his hand into the water and grabbed onto one of the yao ren’s wrists, he pressed down on his life meridian spot with his index finger and checked it carefully. But all he felt was a bit of extremely weak neili flowing through, weak enough for one to easily miss it.
He let out an “eh” sound in suspicion, could he have overthought it?
After hesitating for a while, Bai Tan then also led his hand to his alluring bone and pressed on it once. But he only felt a sense of numbness, it wasn’t like the intense reactions he’d had from being touched by the beast masked man, and seeing the illusion of Wu Yanfu before.
Maybe this was the difference that Gui Yu’er talked about?
Oneself having the feeling…
Bai Tan shook his head and threw the thought aside, then let his hand go.
Maybe he really had doubted too much?
Could this person really have been a spy for the old demon from that year?
When he saved him that year, was there really another reason or not?
Bai Tan gazed at the man’s pale white face in the candlelight, his brows furrowed greatly.
There was actually no use in pondering over these questions, Wu Yanfu had already died and this person became a yao ren with no memories. Plus, several years had already passed, but still, those doubtful questions that popped up one after another just swarmed around in his head with no end.
Bai Tan become more and more confused as he kept thinking, smelling the alluring fragrance that came off of the yao ren’s body, he couldn’t help but lower his head. He bit through the skin on the side of his neck, and greedily sucked in a few big mouthfuls of blood, then walked up to the bed to sleep.
Once he’d curled his head into the sheet, he spat out a whole mouthful of the medicine blood and widened his eyes, then held his breath attentively.
Wu Yanfu opened his eyes and unlocked his own acupuncture points in just a few seconds. Without a single movement at all, he gazed at the youth on the bed for a long time. He waited until he heard the other’s breathing balancing out, then standing up from the bathing tub, walked up to the bed silently.
He bent over and reached out a hand to smooth over the raven-black hair the youth exposed outside of his sheet. As the soft, smooth hair strands slipped over his palm, they were like the years he couldn’t bring back, luring him to tighten his grip slightly, without being able to help himself.
If he wanted to catch the other into his hand now, then it would be as easy as taking an item out of a bag.
But, it was fine if he waited a bit more too. Once he helped the little one sit in the position of the Wu Lin Overlord, then, when he got all his powers back, he would let the whole Wu Lin know, who the overlord of Western Wu Lin belonged to.
It would be the best if, at the Great Assembly of Wu Lin, there was a sedan carried by eight people as he openly took the other in as his marriage partner.
Thinking like that, Wu Yanfu straightened his body, but a hand came out of the sheet and grabbed onto his wrist. Wu Yanfu reacted a bit slowly and in the moment, the youth immediately jumped up. He grabbed onto his neck and turned him around and pushed him down onto the bed, then; acting as fast as lighting, he used “Cui Hua Zhe Zhi Shou” to seal his point before the other could do anything.
“Pretending for this long, it must’ve been hard, huh?” The youth pressed down on the chest of the man below him with his knee and lowered his own head to stare at him, his raven hair fell onto his face, “Tian Su? If I address you like so, do you dare to answer?”
Wu Yanfu lifted his eyes to look at the cute appearance of the youth being mad and furious above him, his chest itched and another idea quickly popped into his head.
Since he’d already gone this far, peeling off the first layer of disguise would be fine too.
“Master, why do you call my old name?”
“You…!” Bai Tan’s face immediately changed. His fingers that held his throat tightened. His other hand went to check his life meridian, and as expected, he felt a great amount of neili and he was shocked inside, “The beast masked man from last night was you?”
Wu Yanfu shook his head, and spoke blankly, “Ah-Chi only know, that Ah-Chi is master’s Ah-Chi.”
Bai Tan glared at the pair of eyes that had now lost their confused look, only a pair of dark, deep blue eyes were left behind. The burning pain behind his back was hard to bear and instantly, with two “pa pa” sounds, he gave the other two slaps right then and there, “When did you regain your memory? How long have you been lying to me*?”
Wu Yanfu opened his thin lips slightly and spoke in a low voice, “From the beginning…all the memories were there.”
It was as if a lightning struck above his head, Bai Tan immediately felt humiliated to the extreme and was in a towering rage. Seeing that the other didn’t look away, and the hidden sense of teasing at the bottom of his eyes too, he reached out two fingers, wanting to take away his two eyes, but the tips of his fingers slowly stopped on the top of his eyelids.
Wu Yanfu closed his eyes and released a long sigh, “If master wants Ah-Chi’s eyes, then go ahead and take them. It’s just that, I won’t be able to see master again in the future, and that’d be a real pity.”
Bai Tan heard his shameless tone and became even madder, he bit onto his teeth and spoke in anger, “You think I* wouldn’t dare to? Just because you had saved my* life once years ago, now you’re making me* into a monkey for you to toy around with? Is it fun?”
“Of course not. Ah-Chi just wanted to protect master. Ah-Chi said so before…Ah-Chi, likes you.”
As the few words left his mouth, Bai Tan felt movements from his alluring bone.
He panicked and quickly covered Wu Yanfu’s mouth, but his pinky had accidentally slipped in between his lips. It was wrapped up by the snake and python-like, wet, cold tongue tip of his, sucked and licked on playfully for a while, making a light smacking sound.
The root of Bai Tan’s ear flushed even redder.
Wu Yanfu enjoyed his current appearance and was overjoyed to the extreme, but then immediately received a harsh slap. The strong, thick smell of blood spread from the area between his lips, but inside, he secretly became excited, like a vicious wolf who thirsted for blood.
He almost wanted to just hold Bai Tan underneath him right now and, as he made the other his, he would tell him who he was.
“If you say such words again, I’ll* cut off your tongue!” He pinched onto the male’s blood-stained chin as his nail dug into his throat, and sliced open a bloody wound. Bai Tan endured the impulse to drink the blood and averted his eyes.
This person wasn’t a yao ren who he’d thought he could just do anything to, but a beast who hid by his side.
“Let me* ask you, were you a spy Wu Yanfu planted within the Yue Yin Palace back then?”
Wu Yanfu hadn’t expected him to ask such a thing so suddenly, so his breathing staggered.
This little one actually knew such a thing, could he have heard it from someone else?
“Speak!” Bai Tan observed his reaction carefully and seeing that he had hesitated slightly, an explosive sound rang out in his chest, it was as if some highly treasured item had split open, “You were, you really were. You were a spy, then why did you save me* back then?”
He’d believed this person was the savior who had saved him from the great suffering, he had believed this person was one of the few people in this world, who had treated him truthfully, he had believed he really was a dummy…but he hadn’t known, from beginning to end, it was all a lie.
“If Ah-Chi says, Ah-Chi had been liking master since that time, would master believe it?”
Bai Tan glared at him and a layer of mist built up in his eyes, his lips quivered, “No.”
“Then that means master must believe in the other answer more.” Wu Yanfu gazed at him and spoke one word at a time.
Bai Tan was instantly stunned, and his eyes immediately turned red, his lips trembled for a long while before he squeezed a few words out from between his teeth. The sounds came out as if they’d been produced by him breaking the root of his teeth, “I also don’t believe that…a thousand or even ten thousand times of disbelief for it!”
“Ah-Chi’s words, are all true. These two answers, whichever one master wants to believe, it will be fine.”
Bai Tan closed his eyes, and the intent to kill rushed into his heart, he gathered up neili within his palm as he forcefully curved his lips up, “I* don’t believe in either. I* just know, I’d rather make myself betray the world than ever let anyone else betray me!!!”
Just as he finished, his palm struck harshly towards the heart area of the male below him, but he saw the other had closed his eyes and hadn’t even dodged. He quickly took back his neili and closed his palm into a fist, resulting in a punch being landed on the other’s chest.
That punch hadn’t contained neili and it wasn’t too hard, to Wu Yanfu, this was basically being punched softly.
Bai Tan’s fist stopped at his heart area, and he felt his fast heartbeats, each beat was like the hit on a drum and quick winds hitting a bell. It was as if he liked him to the extreme, to where he wasn’t even afraid of death. But Wu Yanfu couldn’t help but be overjoyed that he was in someone else’s skin.
If it was switched to himself, he, who was a shizun, really wouldn’t have the face to be here and it’d be a waste that he had lived over fifty years.
