Chapter 41

His butt hadn’t even had the chance to get settled properly and the person above leaped down, coincidentally landing in front of him.

Bai Tan didn’t even look at him, ignoring everything as his two hands came together, he spoke coldly with no expression, “I* have to train with a calm environment, you can scram off far away. The further, the better, do not disturb me*.”

“Ah-Chi didn’t have the intention of disturbing Master, I just have a suggestion.” Wu Yanfu walked behind him and bent over to talk next to his ear, “To be honest, Ah-Chi’s Sky of Six Desires is the same as Master’s, I also learned it in secret.”

Bai Tan’s face changed, “How do you know that I* learned it in secret[1]?”

It wasn’t just once or twice that someone saw you going in and out of the Cang Jing Ge sneakily and tattletaled to your Shizun.

Wu Yanfu smiled, his hands slid down the other’s shoulders and then held onto his wrists, “I could tell by looking at Master’s training style, Master’s hand postures were incorrect. I can guess that whenever you regulate the energy, it isn’t too smooth, even a little unstable, easily leading to the reverse of blood-flow. When the zhenqi passes by the two mais of ren and du, it always feels like it’s being blocked, right?”

Bai Tan’s mouth twitched, even though he didn’t really want to admit it, he still nodded.

He wondered, could his continuous and unstoppable reverse blood-flow be related to why he couldn’t digest the blood relic?

He hadn’t received Wu Yanfu’s personal teaching on how to train the Sky of Six Desires, he’d learned it all from secretly looking at the 《The Bliss》scroll that contained the training style of the Sky of Six Desires from the 《Ten Rounds of Jizo》manual. Most of the scroll’s content were pictures, painted along with little Sanskrit, he could only depend on himself to break the code. But he didn’t know that all the manuals within Cang Ji Ge had been altered by Wu Yanfu dozens of years ago in order to avoid the arts being stolen. With an unfearful, strong-headed mind and oddly high perception, he was actually still able to learn most of it decently from many trials.

But one needed to know at least the majority of it, when put into martial arts, that meant it was off by thousands of miles.

“I can tell, because once when Wu Yanfu and the Death Demon, Si You, practiced the Sky of Six Desires before, I was lucky enough to have seen it, so I’ve been able to perceive more of it than Master. The night before, the reason I saved the Death Demon wasn’t that we were on the same side, but because he knew many secret ways of training the Sky of Six Desires.”

So, what Si You said hadn’t been a lie, he really was that demon’s original Concubine Ming. The demon didn’t want Si You dead, so he’d found him as a replacement. Once this thought popped into Bai Tan’s head, he felt a sharp pain from his tailbone area. He shook his head, quickly collecting his thoughts, he turned his head and looked at Wu Yanfu suspiciously, “Then, have you gotten those secret ways from Si You already?”

“That’s right.” Wu Yanfu sat down in front of him with crossed legs, his thin lips held a mysterious smile, “If Master doesn’t believe, then you can train the Sky of Six Desires with me, then you can see that my words aren’t lies.”

Bai Tan suddenly realized, his face was full of defense, “You want to dual cultivate with me?”

Wu Yanfu saw through his inner thoughts, and found the blood with one needle poke, “Why not? As long as we do not enter the last stage, the two within the dual cultivation will benefit each other, advance skills together, it is a great gain for both ends. Does Master not want to check for mistakes and raise skill levels?”

Under this type of bribery, Bai Tan’s heart really did move a bit, “But between me* and you, who is the Concubine Ming? I* definitely won’t be a Concubine Ming, unless, do you know the Arts of Enchantment?”

Thinking of the appearance of this tall, strong man dancing, he felt happy inside even though he showed nothing on the surface. He stared at the other quietly, waiting for his response.

Wu Yanfu was calm and composed, he answered, “Ah-Chi is dumb, so naturally doesn’t know. Concubine Ming’s role must be fulfilled by a beauty like Master after all. When Master seduces me, I will do one of the moves from 《The Bliss》to counter the seduction, focus my mind and speak the spell. Then let Master know the correct moves, what does the Master think?”

“You really have the good intention of helping me* advance in my skills?” Bai Tan both believed and doubted him.

“Ah-Chi had said earlier, to advance skills like this, it is both for Master and also myself.”

Good intention? Wu Yanfu mocked in his mind, of course, he wasn’t going to be so nice and teach the little wolf cub how to sharpen its claws and teeth. To train the first five levels of the Sky of Six Desires, he’ll have everything ready except the most crucial step. Once he got his neili back from him, breaking through the sixth level of the Sky of Six Desires would also be as easy as pie.

No matter how much he liked the wolf cub, he definitely wouldn’t let him use the power that he’d built up over the years to play around and cause chaos.

The more Bai Tan thought of it, the more uncomfortable he became. The Sky of Six Desires that he’d learned in secret had taken at least a few years, to learn the skills by stealing, and self-learning it with all the hard work. When he’d first made it out, he’d thought he wasn’t any worse than Wu Yanfu but hadn’t thought that he actually had so many mistakes. If he were to keep going down the wrong road, wouldn’t he end up regretting it for the rest of his life?

He stood up, walked back and forth, hesitated for a while, finally, he couldn’t hold back and spoke, “Then, I* will try it with you first. If you dare to lie to me*, then I* will not let you go!”

Wu Yanfu almost laughed out loud. Not letting go, good, just as your master wishes, wouldn’t ever let you escape.

He sat with crossed-legs, stared at Bai Tan and said, “Master, shall we start now then?”

Bai Tan glanced at the Awakened One outside the door, shards of shame grew inside of him. Wu Yanfu saw his hesitation and thoughts, so he picked the other up by hugging his waist and landed behind the statue, only to see a secret stone door exposed at the bottom of it. He jumped over, the secret door automatically fell apart, letting them fall into the space behind. It was a stone room that wasn’t too big, there were Buddhism arts on all four walls and in the center was a circle-shaped stone template. It was slightly taller, suitable for someone to sit on it and meditate for training.

Bai Tan struggled out of Wu Yanfu’s arms, “Is this the place that the ‘Awakened One’ trained when it was alive?”

“This was where he passed away. Once an Awakened One dies, they will be buried beneath the buddha statue’s foot, to be shone on the buddha’s light.” As he spoke, Wu Yanfu sat down on the round template. His two hands clasped together, with his lids half opened, he mumbled from his mouth, “Amitabha[2], I[3] am a monk, please do not let me break the prohibition of sexual engagement.”

Bai Tan saw him sitting properly with his white hair on the ground, he really had the look of a monk. He snorted, his hand fell to his waist, tightened a bit, then pulled the belt loose, then also pulled off the lace that held his hair together.

As the black strands fell down, his silver dragon robe slid down slowly as well, exposing the youth’s beautiful, icy skin and jade-like bone.

This situation, it was just like that year, though in another world.

The youth now, compared to back then, seemed like a natural jade that hadn’t been carved by humans, making him shine even brighter, enough to have everyone fall for him.

Wu Yanfu’s eyes darkened, he dropped his eyelids and calmed his inner emotions. With two hands clasped together at his heart, he collected his zhen qi to his spirit seal spot, then chanted with a low voice, “To have no attachments, is to enter Nirvana. To know Nirvana is to have no attachments. If speech has no attachments, speech is also “freed.” If silence has attachments, silence is also a restraint.”[4]

Bai Tan memorized those words internally and slowly walked up to him. He swayed his waist slightly, spread apart his arms as his hands each bloomed as if they were lotus flowers. Dancing out the seventeen seductive moves from the 《Xing Yu Jing》one by one. Just as he got to the sixth move, “Shadow of the Swan Goose’s Spread Wings”, he heard the other’s chanting voice speeding up in a rush, he almost couldn’t understand him. After using another move, “Walk of Flowers and Willows”, there were no more chanting sounds.

Afraid that the other was purposefully messing it up, he stopped.

But he looked over with focused eyes, to realize that the cross-legged, white-haired male’s face was covered in sweat. His face had a harsh, blue tone, with his rapid breathing, the abnormal situation below his abdomen was exposed. This meant he had already broken, so there was no way of continuing now.

Right, after all, he wasn’t that stone-hearted old demon, how could he resist him?

Bai Tan turned around to pick up his clothes, and smiled jokingly, “Your endurance, it’s pretty good.”

Wu Yanfu sucked in a deep breath, calming down the fire of desire, and spoke deeply, “Again.”

Bai Tan was only halfway through dressing himself and heard the hidden anger in the other’s tone as if he couldn’t allow himself to lose against him, he couldn’t help the playfulness in him springing up. He loosely tied up his clothes, exposing one of his jade shoulders, walked to the front of the man and looked down. The untamed hair fell down, flitting passed the man’s sweat-covered cheek, then he slowly came to his ear, using the move “An Song Qiu Bo” to speak, “Tian Su…Tian Su…”

Yet the man’s breathing calmed down, he wasn’t moved at all, no matter how he seduced him, he was calm like a statue.

This kind of situation seemed so familiar.

Bai Tan was lost for a moment, he even missed one phase of the chant that the other spoke of and forgot to use his Moyin. He used his normal voice and softly let out words unconsciously, “Tan’er likes you so much…”

Just as he finished, the man who sat like a stone in front of him groaned, then quickly pushed him away before turning his own head to cough out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Bai Tan was stunned for a moment, then a smile followed. He stood up, extremely proud as he slowly tidied himself up, “I’ve* already said, you don’t have enough willpower, you should just train yourself more. Yet, wanting to dual cultivate with me*, you’re overestimating yourself.”

He finished, then turned to pick up his outer coat, but a grasp tightened around his ankle. His whole body was dragged down to the floor, before he could get up, a weighted figure trapped him beneath it. As his back was trapped tightly by an icy cold, stone-hard chest, his wrist was also locked tight by a pair of huge, slender hands. Several thin ghost vines wrapped around his waist and his alluring bone seemed to be hit by something hard.

Bai Tan’s whole body shook from panic, he started to struggle as best he could, but the more he resisted, the tighter it got. He was just like a moth fighting for its life in a spider web. A pair of cold, wet lips and tongue stuck onto the side of his neck, then smooched its way up in a path, before biting at his earlobe harshly. The man constrained his own breathing, the thick, sweet smell of the medicine blood appeared through his breathing, “I don’t have good willpower, but isn’t that all just because…I like you?”

This sentence came right from his throat, deep and raspy to where it was unbearable, but it was even more heart-throbbing than Moyin.

The root of Bai Tan’s ear felt a numbing sensation from the sound, his heart quivered as his alluring bone started to twitch over and over again.

Don’t do that, he would…he would die!

That thought rang throughout his head, Bai Tan roared out shakily, “Let go of me!”

“No.”

Let go? He would never let him go in this life. Wu Yanfu tightened his grasp around Bai Tan’s thin wrist, almost as if they’d returned to the night that Bai Tan had just revived. He was drunk to oblivion, and while in that drunken state, he’d told Bai Tan one word, “scram.” It’d frightened Bai Tan so much that he’d escaped that night, almost losing the life that he had just rescued again.

Since he was the one who continued the wolf cub’s life, then his life was his, the other couldn’t control it himself.

Bai Tan felt like when this person was in the moment, he would be extremely unreasonable, he shouted angrily, “Tian Su, if you really do like me*, then stop pestering. I* already have someone in my heart, I will never like you!”

“Master, who do you have in your heart?” Wu Yanfu’s heart moved from the words, his strength loosened a bit.

“My*…the one within my* heart is, is…” Bai Tan’s teeth tightened together a bit, his alluring bone suddenly started to hurt badly, just like a centipede gnawing on flesh crazily, “It is…”

“Who is it?” Wu Yanfu was a bit startled, a rush of blood surged in him, he interrogated with a deep voice, “What is their name?”

Bai Tan shook his head, it was so painful he couldn’t speak. Wu Yanfu turned his face over and saw him clenching his teeth tightly, eyes red, looking as if he was experiencing pains of extreme torture. It made the theory that he’d originally thought was completely ridiculous slowly take shape…could the alluring bone really recognize a soul?

His eyes squinted as his thumb ran over the youth’s trembling lips, with only the thought of what drug he had with him right now that could force the other to spit out the answer clearly. It was fine, even if he wasn’t willing to say it just then, in the future, he had hundreds of ways to make the little one tell him the truth, word by word.

“It’s Li Wuzhang.” Bai Tan squeezed out the few words, and the pain immediately vanished. His whole body relaxed, then he turned his head, “He and I are disciple brothers, he protected me* as I ascended to the throne of the sect leader position. Never abandoned me all these years, I’ve* had feelings for him for a long time already, you should just give up.”

Li Wuzhang stopped; the hand he was about to push the secretive door open with couldn’t help but stiffen.

He was lying to himself. Wu Yanfu quirked his eyebrow, too bad, the little fox’s mouth was full of lies, yet, he couldn’t deceive his own foxtail. He let go, and in case Bai Tan attacked him after getting up, he leaped out of the secret door.

Li Wuzhang was shocked and had no time to hide, so he ended up facing Wu Yanfu. Both of them reacted fast, attacking each other just once in the air. Li Wuzhang backed off several steps, and almost bumped into the wall, one of his arms was numbing all over. The three fingers that he’d used for the “Chimei Shehun Hand” move were stiff to the point they couldn’t move. It was because the other was able to reach the acupuncture point in the center of his palm cleanly with just one finger tap. He saw the other moving extremely stably, he hadn’t backed off at all, the other had one hand behind him as he looked down at him. His eyes were squinted, it had the look of a senior looking at a naive kid.

He wasn’t sure if it was because the other was standing in front of a broken buddha statue, but Li Wuzhang felt that this person seemed like both a god and a demon. His aura was tyrant-like as if he could control the sky with one hand, able to create fear for whatever reason.

——This Tian Su…no matter if it was him fighting or his aura, why did it all seem so similar to Shizun’s?

Translator’s Comments: Bruh, when Bai Tan said Li Wuzhang was the one he liked, i just immediately thought: “he really just threw him under the bus like that” since I think Wu Yanfu would kill LWZ for Bai Tan, but he also obviously knows that the little shit was lying as well so ig it’s alright so far

Proofreader’s Comments: Dude when he said that, I wanted to flip the damn table. I was like “WTF is wrong with you? Just tell the truth you shit!” And Poor LWZ, poor little thing is innocent in the whole mess and just waltzes blindly in to the shitstorm.

Xiao’s Comments: LWZ’s going to be the casualty in the name of love, poor guy. Bai Tan…you’re already dying, just admit you love Wu Yanfu and maybe you guys can still salvage the situation!

[1] “Learned it in secret” – Wanted to note that the reason why Bai Tan got so surprised/cautious was because when they said that they learned it in “secret”, the words’ literal translation would’ve been “steal learn”, which basically meant he stole the skills without permission because he didn’t have the “right” to learn them back then.

[2] Amitabha (阿弥陀佛) – a celestial buddha and when people say the term to each other, it’s either for good prayers or thanking for the Buddha’s blessing and protection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amit%C4%81bha

[3] In this sentence, as a joke, Wu Yanfu addresses himself as 小僧 which is the way that monks addressed themselves.

[4] Here’s an interpretation from our lovely translator Yeong (bless her soul for helping me with this part), it might have some mistakes but we did our best.

The first part means “if you let go of all your attachments, be it love, desire, hate etc, you won’t have worries or other negative feelings and will attain Nirvana.”

The second part needs a little context. They say that all languages are but Buddha’s teachings, if you have nothing to speak about, speaking the entire day is the Way. If you have something to speak about but keep silent the whole day, it is not the Way. (or “If you know it is time to speak and speak, speech/speaking is to be freed. But if you stay silent with no account for timing, silence is also a restraint.”)
