Chapter 50

“Move out of my way!” Seeing Si You had escaped into the Dragon Gate Building’s door, Bai Tan shouted angrily as his other hand used “Zhu Tian Hua Mo Zhang” to attack Tian Su, forcing him to back off in order to avoid it. To which, he ended up inside of the Dragon Gate Building. The day was already bright at this time, it was close to the Chou Hour[1], the beginning of the Great Assembly of Wu Lin was near. A few hundred people had already gathered around the ring, waiting for the “Awakened Ones” to hit the drum and signal the battle’s start. Suddenly, a person covered in blood was seen rushing in and falling to the ground. There were also two more people fighting as they broke into the gate, it was a really shocking sight.

“Bai Tan, don’t you dare mess around in the Dragon Gate Building!”

Wu Yanfu scanned the surroundings once, only to feel that the situation was truly shameful. All he did was order Si You to watch Li Wuzhang, to observe if he would activate the Loyalty Spell. Unfortunately, he was probably found by the little wolf cub while eavesdropping in secret. He’d attacked so brutally and even ran into the Dragon Gate Building, breaking the unwritten rule of Wu Lin that’d been in place for hundreds of years.

If he stepped onto the seat of the Wu Lin Overlord of the Western Region with such temper, how could he rule?

“Mess around?” Bai Tan stared at Si You, who was on the ground, he suddenly raised his voice, speaking each word bright and clear, “I* want to battle him in the ring, does that need your permission first? What kind of crap do you think you are?”

Si You held onto his severed arm as he propped himself up with difficultly, his speech was intermittent, “You aren’t trying to battle me, you just wanna kill me to keep my mouth shut because I found out your secret!”

Bai Tan was stunned before he quickly reacted in rage, “You found out my* secret? What a thief, shouting to catch thieves, spitting blame on others, truly shameful!”

“Don’t you talk nonsense!” The man leaped into the ring, he stumbled his way towards the front of the great drum. Using his remaining arm to raise up the drum stick, he hit the drum with all his energy. And let out a breath before saying, “I am a Hu Fa of the Fu Tu Sect’s that’s been in position for two generations. I would never joke around with Fu Tu Sect’s reputation. Every single word of mine is true, there is absolutely no false information…I came out of my room in the middle of the night, wanting to get some water to brew tea. But I happened to see you leading a person down the stairs in a stealthy manner, the person’s attire seemed like he was a monk with hair from the Kong Xing Sect. I was curious, so I followed, yet I found you…you lured a monk to a worn-out temple outside the walls, wanting to seduce him into dual cultivating with you! Now, in front of everyone, say, just who is it that’s shameful? You say you want to battle it out with me, then I will use my death in this ring as proof!”

With the words out, uproar started all around, suddenly, it was like a pot of boiling porridge had exploded.

“What, the Kong Xing Sect?”

“No way, this demonic sect evildoer doesn’t even let go of monks?”

“Was it really a disciple of our Kong Xing Sect? Where is he right now?”

“Nonsense!” Bai Tan immediately allowed the emotions to get to him, a mouthful of blood surged up to his throat, he forcefully swallowed it back down again. Seeing everyone looking in his direction with strange looks. He was so angered that he couldn’t get a complete sentence out.

Wu Yanfu was stunned upon hearing the words, remembering the sight of the little wolf cub seducing Mi Lansheng, his heart sank instantly. His eyes fell between the other’s brows. Seeing the Gecko Mark still there, he felt slightly relieved, knowing that he must’ve been interrupted by Si You and hadn’t succeeded. But it still felt like there was a bone stuck in his throat, he asked, “Was what he said true?”

When those words came out, Bai Tan instantly felt a grievous pain from his alluring bone, it was as if a sharp knife had impaled him, and was stirring his bones and scraping his flesh. His whole body shuddered violently, with an exploding roar, he suddenly snatched away the Pori Ax from Wu Yanfu’s hand. Holding two weapons in his hands, he jumped onto the ring with a sparrowhawk turn and went straight for the individual in front of the drum.

Yet Si You didn’t move at all, he closed his eyes, not afraid of sacrificing his life.

Wu Yanfu leaped upon seeing it. He landed behind the great drum, gathered his inner energy and sent it out of his palm. The great drum rang like thunder cries, the firm wind shocked Bai Tan, who was attacking in midair, causing him to back several meters, falling back onto the ground.

His brain rang continuously, it felt like his spine had shattered. Bai Tan’s eyes darkened from pain, but he was afraid of showing his weak side in front of everyone, he’d almost broken all his teeth from clenching, “Tian Su, are you gonna stand as my* foe?”

Wu Yanfu did not answer, he only asked, “I want you to reply yourself, was what he said really true?”

“You demonic sect evildoer, return our sect’s disciple’s life!”

A great roar came from outside the door, a few people with their hair tied up, dressed in white, broke in, carrying a stretcher. On the stretcher lay a person, the straw mat on their body was already soaked through with blood. One of the people lifted the straw mat, revealing the sight of a disheveled individual. There was a long blood mark that ran from his chest to his abdomen, so deep that one could see the bones. It was obvious it had been slit open by a sharp blade, the skin around the wound was also scorched black.

“Kong Yan!”

“Shixiong, he…”

That person put down the straw mat before raising his head to stare at Bai Tan, “Our Kong Xing Sect believes in the Buddha’s way, all disciples of the sect only have Buddha in their hearts. They trained hard with a calm mind, keep their bodies cleansed. Yet, was harmed into this state by an evildoer like you!”

Wu Yanfu took his eyes off the corpse to see the horrible expression on the face of the youth in the ring. He didn’t say anything and the few things he’d said to Li Wuzhang before descending the mountain ring in his ears. Volatile undercurrents surged as dark clouds covered his heart.

……I can’t prove my innocence at this point, no matter what. May as well agree to it.

……As long as I can succeed in training the Sky of Six Desires, take the Western Region’s Wu Lin Overlord spot steadily, make everyone have to raise their heads in order to look at me, who would dare to mention the word male pet?

……All I need is to spoil my own body, after all, my body was offered to the old demon. It doesn’t matter who I have intercourse with, I’m* not a woman, it’s not like I’ll* get pregnant.

At this time, the one with the severed arm barely straightened himself, he whipped out the long rope from his sleeve, “Look, everyone, I wasn’t lying. My weapon cannot make wounds of that shape.”

Once finished, his body leaned, then he fell down the high-above ring softly.

Wu Yanfu turned to grab his belt in midair. Once landing below the ring, he immediately used a golden needle to seal the blood flow of his arm, stopping the continuous bleeding. Then slit his own finger, squeezing out a few drops of blood to feed him. Yet the person in his arms raised his finger to point at the ring and spoke thin and weak, “Sect leader, sect leader…if you disliked the previous drawing, Si You will draw another one for you, okay?”

Wu Yanfu wiped away the bloodstain beside his lip and said, “We can talk about it when your wounds are treated.”

Bai Tan couldn’t hear what the two under the ring were saying, nor did he wished to hear. He was already drowning in the overwhelming insults, he raised his eyes to look, suddenly, feeling a sense of coldness. Instantly, it was almost as if he was back to that cold, snowy day, from years ago. Covered under thick layers of snow, his blood, flesh, and bones, losing their warmth little by little.

He thought he was cold-hearted enough, cruel enough, unafraid of anything, didn’t care for anything. As long as he could step onto the Wu Lin Overlord position, then he could feel proud and elated, but now, he finally knew how fearful other’s words can be.

In this enormous world, there was no one who truly understood him.

Those who did not know me, said I was seeking something.[2]

He knew he couldn’t clear this up even with a hundred mouths, he didn’t want to cry out innocence either. Bai Tan raised his head and laughed a few times, then looked down at the few people that surrounded the stretcher below the ring. He stopped laughing and said coldly, “This person wasn’t killed by me*, I* will never admit to it, if anyone has a problem, come and talk on the ring!”

Listening to the firmness in his tone, Wu Yanfu couldn’t help but feel a bit strange inside, he handed the person in his arms to an “Awakened One” that walked over, but the corner of his clothes was caught. Si You coughed a bit then muttered weakly, “Sect leader, your subordinate remembered your words, never did he touch him, please. Please do not blame this subordinate.”

“I* know. Do not carelessly use your neili, you’ve been on the ring, so the Awakened One will treat you.”

Just as Wu Yanfu turned, he saw a disciple of the Kong Xing Sect jumping onto the ring, he swung his staff towards Bai Tan like a rainbow bridge. Before he could even get close, he was beaten off the stage in three moves, he instantly spat out blood, unable to get up from the floor.

Bai Tan looked down, he scoffed lightly, “Want to fight me* with only that strength? How unaware of your own strength.”

Once he said those words, it angered the crowd right away, everyone was riled up, ready to jump and try.

Right now, dozens of sect’s people of the Western Wu Lin gathered at the Dragon Gate Building; there were the three great righteous sects, Tian Yang Sect, Chang Le Clan, and Kong Xing Sect. The three great demonic sects, aside from the Fu Tu Sect, were the Yue Yin Palace and the Mandala Sect. The two great sects in-between the righteous and evil were the Bai Huo Sect and the Hong Lian Sect. Plus many smaller sects that came from far places.

Due to the difference of race in the Western Wu Lin, relationships were really messy. In the past dozens of years, everyone stood by themselves as endless clashes occurred. The Great Assembly of Wu Lin was only set to bring prestige for a sect, and to have a stable foot in Jiang Hu. The more victories a participant got, the more prominent their sect would be; with more disciples, it came with more power. In the years that Wu Yanfu stood as the Wu Lin Overlord, Fu Tu Sect was at its greatest age. When he was still alive, the Seven World Fu Tu Command was like the death and life talisman in the hand of the Yama[3], whether a person was wanted dead or alive, no one in Jiang Hu would dare defy it.

But once Wu Yanfu died, Fu Tu Sect became a tall building that everyone wished to push over.

And Bai Tan was a star on the tall building that had to be picked.

With intentions of seeing whether Bai Tan’s martial power had really raised or not, Wu Yanfu stood below the ring as a bystander. To see that, as expected, he’d beaten ten people in the time of one incense[4]. Compared to himself, who’d first stepped on the ring over ten years ago, he’d really surpassed him. His martial skills really seemed to be way higher than what they were when they fought a few days ago.

Bai Tan’s courage mounted as the battle continued, in three to five moves, he’d beaten a master from the Bai Huo Sect to a pulp. His attacks were very vicious with no mercy, all defeated individuals were crippled at least, if not already dead. No one would return with a complete body. This one from the Bai Huo Sect was no exception, right as he got off the ring, he died from broken meridian channels.

But after a battle of continuously changing opponents, he was already at his limit. There were signs of reverse blood-flow at this point. His hand holding the weapon shook slightly, darkness flashed in front of his eyes continuously, almost as if he was near the edge of death.

A bad feeling vaguely bore in him, but Bai Tan still straightened his back, standing firm in the center of the ring.

If today was his death date, then he would fight until the end and beat everyone here.

The victor is the king, the defeated is the bandit[5], even if he died, he would die remarkably.

“Whoever still dares to blame me*…come up all you’d like! If no one dares to respond, then I* will be the Wu Lin Overlord, rightfully. Whoever dares to spread rumors of me* again, I’ll* take their life like the dog they are!”

Hearing that he had no energy left, Wu Yanfu’s brows furrowed, he thought a bit and held tightly onto the long rope in his hand……

He should just use this weapon to oppress the little wolf cub’s spirit in front of everyone, give him a little lesson.

Fu Lin looked over at the man beside him with his hand on his cheek, “Daddy, are we gonna attack now? If you don’t kill that Bai brat, he’s gonna steal the spot of the Wu Lin Overlord!”

Fu Lu smiled, he played with his bili in one hand and pet his son’s head in the other, “Don’t hurry, let us wait a bit more, be steady. Look, there are so many people who want to kill him. It can last for another while.”

Just as he finished, a strong figure landed on the ring, carrying eight sharp swords on their back. He was the sect leader of Tian Yang Sect, Su Muzhe, he looked at him with dark eyes, as if he was a malicious spirit seeking for a life. The young girl’s smiling face and voice suddenly reappeared in front of his eyes, Bai Tan’s heart tightened, even breathing was becoming difficult.

“If one says that this disciple of Kong Xing Sect wasn’t harmed by this evildoer, I, Su Muzhe, would be the first to disbelieve it. It was him when in a dispute with our sect, took my daughter as hostage and caused my daughter’s death……”

A wave of noise immediately rose up, angry shouts and insults went on with no stop.

“Everyone, say, if I use the eight people sword formation on my daughter’s murderer, does that count as bullying by a larger number?”

“It doesn’t!”

“Of course, it doesn’t!”

The instant sounds of agreement rung through one’s ear endlessly.

Bai Tan had had a taste of the eight people sword formation power, his face changed subconsciously.

“Alright!” Su Muzhe yelled loudly, then called for seven more people, setting up the sword formation to surround the youth in the ring’s center. Wu Yanfu’s pupil shrunk, he leaped up and landed inside the sword formation to protect the youth’s backside.

Bai Tan wasn’t prepared, he gritted his teeth angrily, “What are you doing here? Why don’t you go save your old lover?”

“Naturally, it’s because I’m afraid you’ll lose your life from playing around.” Wu Yanfu squinted his eyes, he turned and grabbed the youth’s waist, sealing him in his embrace. He laughed at Su Muzhe cruelly and spoke loudly, “On the ring of the Great Assembly of Wu Lin, how can a righteous sect not follow the rules as if they’re in the Liudao Lunhui Formation? Bullying one by numbers, attacking as a group, yet tries to justify it with words? Even people of our demonic sect aren’t like this.”

Bits of suspicious chattering started up, Su Muzhe raged, “What nonsense are you spouting?”

“Whether it’s nonsense or not, you know it clearly inside!” Bai Tan continued the mocking, “Ordering your daughter to poison another, to repay one’s kindness with ingratitude, that was what a mighty sect leader of a sect did!”

“Hey, Uyghur, he also harmed me, let me aid you as well!” A voice with choppy pronunciations rung from under the ring, a person in strange attire jumped up and pulled out a long knife.

Su Muzhe glanced at him, he suddenly remembered the east travelers Su Maner described back then, his eyelids jumped violently, yet he still raised his treasured sword in hand. With a command, eighth swords aimed toward the two within the formation.

Wu Yanfu held tightly onto Shiyue in one hand as the other locked onto the waist of the one in his embrace. He lowered his head, closing into his ear, “The Sky of Six Desires technique that I told you last time, do you still remember the correct order?”

Bai Tan had no time to argue with him now, so he nodded.

“Good, I will teach you how to use the Nineteen Changes of Hell today, and beat away this ground full of imps.”

Bai Tan was surprised, his hands were held tightly by the other. They spun-jumped up, the two rare weapons drew a ring of blazing, cold light. It seemed like the clash of sun and moon for an instant. It had the power of shattering sky and fracturing ground. They swept the eight spinning, sharp swords that flew at them, it was like gale ravaging a forest. In under ten moves, they’d effortlessly beaten the Heaven Earth Eight Sun Formation, which was rumored to be capable of trapping demons and gods, into a complete disorder. Broken swords were all over the floor.

Wu Yanfu smiled mockingly, he whispered to Bai Tan, “What injured you was the Heaven Earth Eight Sun Formation? I say it should be called Chicken Feather All Over The Ground Formation.” When he finished, he saw Su Muzhe was ready to attack again, so he quickly clasped Bai Tan’s hand. With the swing of a blade towards the ground, the scattered, broken blades rose up from the shock. Then like a downpour, they rained down on the other nine people on the ring. In a moment, shrill cries were continuously heard.

Bai Tan was immediately stunned. After the sword-rain, he saw that not only were the nine people’s clothes torn, almost not covering their bodies. Their bodies were full of blade marks going both vertically and horizontally. Even though they were still alive, their faces were all ruined, shaming them greatly.

Su Muzhe had the worst injuries, both his arm’s meridians were a blurry mess of blood and flesh, he’d already become a crippled individual.

“You received eight sword wounds, so returning each one of those eight wounds is extremely fair.” Bai Tan’s wrist was held super tightly, he listened to the one behind him finish every word and sentence, his tone suddenly changed, “As the saying goes, if one does not offend me, I do not offend them. Did you know, to place your hand on a monk of Kong Xing Sect is a heinous, unforgivable sin, no one in the world would tolerate it? But, it’s fine even if they don’t…there’s only me that can protect you.”

Translator’s Comments: Hello, I would like to teach y’all a Chinese slang today: “Green Tea Bitch” (绿茶表). It is usually used to describe a person who either tries to get close to a guy or intervenes in an already-existing relationship, while acting innocent, kind, and makes themselves the victim to be pitied on. (here’s a pretty good English definition: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=green%20tea%20bitch)

So um, Si You, stop being such a Green Tea Bitch plz (and poor Bai Tan *cRy* this chapter was a roller coaster for me; when he was doubted, when he realized how much words hurt, when WYF considered using SY’s weapon to beat BT, and when that bish Su Muzhe fought by the side of his daughter’s violator asdjfhskdjfjh)

Proofreader’s Comments: THIS^^^

Xiao’s Comments: LOL, Si You, I was sympthatic toward you at first because it seems like you were just so loyal and all you wanted was Wu Yan fu’s love. But, I don’t like two-faced bitch~
