Chapter 2

It was said that every day, every hour, there were tens of millions of people in the universe who will enter the “Final Plan”.

Wu Fei couldn’t verify the authenticity of this figure. After all, he didn’t even know how many people there are in the universe at the moment.

Wu Fei was standing in Central Island’s working lobby of the “Final Project” and waiting there. There were a lot of people coming and going around in an endless stream, some of them suddenly appeared while some of them suddenly disappeared — a normal situation in the holographic networks.

His entry application was quickly granted, a refined and courteous, middle-aged man in a neat three-piece working clothes led him to a huge spaceship, politely said, “Mr. Wu, I am Louis. This spaceship will take you to the registration island of final plan, during this time I will stay with you until you successfully entered the program. If you have any questions or doubts, you can also ask me at any time during this period.”

He had carefully paid attention to the strange levels of the Final Plan when watching the live streaming, praying hoping it could add more clearance experience, and paid no attention to the rest of the details, but he also knew one thing – from the moment he entered the Central Island of the final plan, except for the participants, all “people” he will meet were all AI.

In other words, no matter how real he felt, the middle-aged man sitting next to him and accompanying him now, wasn’t an actual person, but only an AI.

Deserved to be called as the fifth-level civilization legacy, the Louis in front of him was simply no different than any real person. In other words, in this world of information and data, he was a genuine existence.

The ship’s cabin was the size of half a stadium and the seating wasn’t too crowded, arranged somewhat like in a first class seat, so that everyone could feel comfortable. An AI with the same working clothes were sitting next to each participant and accompanying them.

Louis carefully explained to Wu Fei, “Mr. Wu, the participants in the ship will be in the same group as you to enter the final program, and the one who will receive all of you is called Miss Lulu. She is an experienced guide and will surely help you smoothly entered the final plan.”

The ship soon arrived at an isolated island on an oasis in the sea of stars.

The entire oasis was surrounded by lush vegetation and there was only one building on it which was made of transparent glass and white material that is similar to ceramics. The whole building looked sparkling and translucent reflecting a brilliant spark under the sunlight.

Louis explained that the location of each guidance point was random and could numerously and simultaneously existed, when a new batch of participants arrived, then it would generate a guide point to guide them to the final plan.

Wu Fei followed Louis and other participants into the building and the lobby was filled with golden marble floor. As he walked further there was a large and empty information hall, and as participants walked in, translucent cream-colored chairs came out from the floor so everyone could take a seat.

After everyone had taken their seats, soon a pretty young woman in a blue-water-colored uniform with a long maroon-colored hair pulled back by a string of pearls appeared on the stage while a translucent screen suddenly appeared in front of everyone, on which woman’s figure appeared with other supplementary information.

In the final plan, it is possible to set all information such as currency, units, and language according to participants’ preferences, so there were no communication barriers.

“Welcome to the Final Plan, I am your guide, Lulu.” The young woman slightly bowed on the stage and gave out greeting to the participants, “Some of the participants may have previously learned about Final Plan current condition, today I’m only going to give a brief overview again and help you complete the early preparation to get to the Final Plan. If you encounter any problems with the rules while participating in the program, you can contact me anytime through the communicator.”

“There are two main types of levels in the Final Plan which is the challenge level and the rest level. The challenge levels are varied and once you clear them, you will be rewarded and advanced to another level. If you are defeated in the challenge level or failed the challenge then you will be eliminated from the Final Plan and lose the right to continue the challenge. In the rest level, you can recuperate and replenish your supplies or call friends and family. I will also appear to give an explanation if you got into a special level.”

“Once you understand this, you can prepare to enter the final plan. To help you get through the challenge levels better, you can draw a Contractor before the challenge started. There will be only one Contractor who will assist you in every course of event and you can’t change it once you have drawn the card. However in the follow-up-challenge levels you can spend money and special rewards to draw another identity card to strengthen your own Contractor’s ability

Miss Lulu observed everyone reactions, nodded, and pointed to the hall on her left hand side where three dark brown doors appeared: “After drawing the Contractors, you can leave this place and officially start your challenges in the Final Plan.”

Hang on … unexpectedly it was a cheating card draw game?!

Wu Fei was shocked when he watched the live streaming and learned that each participant would have someone to assist them, a Virtual Intelligence Contractor, personal contractor which one would get when they entered the final plan. Moreover this contractor could bring out some abilities in some challenge levels and if in case the participants’ own abilities were not effective, the contractor’s strength and abilities will be even more important as it could directly affect the outcome of the challenge.

But he hadn’t thought that the way to strengthen the contractor was actually by continuing to draw cards.

No wonder he’d seen some strategy posts stated that in order to go far, you had to invest from the early stages and be willing to invest in contractor’s abilities in order to go far enough to get your money back. Initially, you wouldn’t even last two levels without blowing out around 1.8 million from the beginning.

He didn’t really cared about these kinds of comments at the time but it was make sense. However even though right now he knew about it, he also didn’t have money to invest in it. He himself prepared to come and just create something from nothing.

Many people had already eager to start and draw a card, after a while there would be some excited screams in the hall and some complaining laments. Sitting to his left side was a crew-cut young man with an upright and bright face, looked quite healthy. He also quickly drew his own contractor and only let out a suppressed “woah” when he saw the result.

It seems that his result was quite good.

Wu Fei wasn’t in a hurry to draw his own contractor, rather looked at the young man wearing yellow shirt with a mix of blue and green color embroidered in it sitting on the opposite side of him. The ball was written with the Roman numeral “II” in the middle which was the symbol of Earth. It meant that the young man was also an earthling.

Judging from his appearance, the young man was most likely a fellow Chinese.

But followed by his surprise, an intense blue-green light flashed. A delicate and beautiful woman with a human head and snake body in an ancient clothing appeared in his side and quietly standing at his side.

Wu Fei was hesitating a little but took the opportunity to turn in the direction where the young man was and stroke up a conversation with him, “Older brother, your contractor looks pretty impressive. I still don’t quite understand what these contractors are all about so can you tell me more about them?”

The young man drew out an ideal contractor, he currently looked at Wu Fei who also had same Earth symbol like him which made his expression instantly become much kinder and said, “Brother, it seemed like you haven’t done enough pre-preparation or the information you looked at wasn’t sufficient.”

Wu Fei smiled and responded, “Yes, I came in a rushed, previously I was only preoccupied on the levels’ so I don’t know much about these processes.”

“You heard from that Lulu already that each person can only have one contractor so the aptitude of the contractor is very important. After we drew a card, the Contractor will come with an initial identity card as well as a series of its own corresponding identity cards. There are several types of race, identity, special ability, and card’s rarity level on each identity card.”

“Generally speaking, the rarer the card the higher the aptitude. Usually non-human races have higher rarity than human races and the special identities are also higher compare with the general identities. Like this girl of mine whose initial race is a Nuwa descendant, her identity is a priest candidate and her special ability is quick recovery. It seems to be pretty impressive from the beginning so the initial identity card rating is also one in a million, level SS.”

There were five levels of rarity for Contractor identity cards: N, R, S, SS, and SSS. S level and above were rare while the SS level could be treated as a trump card for majority of people.

“But even if the initial identity card drawn was neither rare nor powerful but there’s no need to feel bad. It’s just a little tougher in the early stages but if you have money and lucky enough to draw a rare identity card, you can quickly strengthen your contractor.”

“That’s how they all play in the Advance Civilization National Teams. The 14th Ai Sen from Planet Dirk’s team contractor’s initial racial identity was a teacher, it was very weak and had the lowest rarity N level. But because they had money and resources, he was able to quickly draw an SSS level identity card which is The Angel’s Holy Light, and as Ai Sen strength went up, his contractor became a rare 3S level trump card. So as long as you continue to play and have money to spend, you contractor can be slowly strengthened up.”

The young man was very satisfied with his contractor, not only she was strong but also had that classic beauty that matched his ideal in every aspect. He was very happy just thinking of being able to be together. As he was in a good mood, he told Wu Fei a series of things about the contractor in one breath, seeing that Wu Fei was earnestly listening, he continued and said:

“Furthermore, a contractor is very precious as they do have emotions and feelings just like humans. If you don’t treat them well or amuse them, then they might not want to help you, or if they can’t stand you anymore then they might even one-sidedly terminate the contract, and if you no longer you’re your contractor then basically it is impossible to continue going.”

Wu Fei understood the general idea of the game, to speak frankly, this was all about “how to become strong without using money” in this huge money-world game where “the rich could be willful”.

However there was one more thing that the young man didn’t say because it was only something that widely circulated without any evidence.

There are some differences on contractor’s aptitude as the “aptitude” here has nothing to do with the initial identity card, but related more on the aptitude of the identity cards generally drawn from the card pool, because the each drawn from the card pool will have different use for each contractor.

As an extreme example, there were to same contractors that both have 10,000 identity cards to be drawn.

50% of the former’s identity card pool was N level cards, 40% was R level cards, 9.89% was S level cards, 0.1% was SS level cards, and only 0.01% was SSS level cards.

1% of the latter’s identity card pool was N level cards, 5% was R level cards, 44% was S level cards, 40% was SS level cards, and only 10% was SSS level cards.

Obviously, the latter’s aptitude would be much stronger than the former’s one as through countless concrete evidence, the participants have found that the identity card with higher rare level was more powerful and advantageous than lower rare level in every way.

That’s why all participants attached great importance of the top ten identity cards that they had drawn. If from those ten identity cards there were two or three S or even SS level, then it meant that the contractor’s aptitude was not bad. However if there was none S level or above, then it meant that the contractor’s aptitude was not good.

Usually, participants won’t have such high demands for SSS level identity cards because there was just a handful SSS level identity cards found in the entire final plan. If it was found that you have a SSS level contractor then you reputation was for sure will be widely spread among the followers of the final plan participants.

However usually, only very wealthy and powerful people or extremely lucky people, or both, can draw SSS level identity card and such card will not be drawn repeatedly, but there was rumor that the pool of identity cards for each contractor wasn’t set in a fixed number but rather an infinite number that will be constantly generated. In other words, no matter how much you spend, no matter how many times you draw, the pool will never be drained, but the probability of the number of SSS level identity cards you could draw was only a little.

Wu Fei didn’t include the need to top money for the game as he himself had done this line of work. His basic needs depended on the support of players and friends and while he himself experienced his own game or friends’ game, he would also get thousands from it. However he was able to earn a steady income, unburdened, and had a bright future, so he didn’t take it seriously.

However right now it was different, he simply didn’t prepare any money to invest in the final plan. At least in the early stage he couldn’t come up with the money to draw more cards to strengthen his contractor, so he could only hope for a burst of luck and draw a contractor with good initial aptitude.

Though as a designer he knew best that this kind of probability was one of the things he couldn’t count on the most.

The young man turned to look at Wu Fei, “Brother? You haven’t drawn a card yet? Quickly draw it and let me see what card you draw.”

He said as he grabbed Wu Fei’s body from behind, waiting expectantly for Wu Fei to draw his card.
