“Xia. Feng. Guang! You’re seeking death!” Song Mo’s anger was worse than usual. He let go of Qiu Niannian’s arm and he headed closer to Fengguang.

Midway, a person intercepted him and blocked his path. “President, Qiu Niannian needs medical attention.”

Song Mo looked back at Qiu Niannian. She had twisted her leg and because he had pulled her back just now, she was leaning against the wall with a sheen layer of sweat covering her face. She stood there alone, appearing like an abandoned Cinderella.

“Xia Fengguang, this isn’t over.” He grinded his teeth as he said this before Song Mo retreated and walked off while carrying Qiu Niannian.

Fengguang let out a breath.

“So now you know what fear is.” Bai Zhe went to pick up her heels and put them down in front of her bare feet.

She denied it. “I wasn’t scared earlier, I just… I just didn’t want to ruin my image as a lady.”

Song Mo was a man and she was only a woman. The system only gave her the life story and background but it didn’t give her any fighting abilities. So she could only throw things at him but it didn’t guarantee that she could beat him in a fight.

Bai Zhe stood up. He was speechless.

Fengguang felt guilty. “I… Did I cause you trouble?”

“No.”

“Then why are you looking at me like that?”

“I’m just wondering how many more surprises are you going to give me.”

She gave a genuine smile. “The days we have are long. You can enjoy anticipating them. That…”

She hesitated and Bai Zhe asked her, “What is it?”

“Aren’t you interested in Qiu Niannian? She’s injured so shouldn’t you go care about her?”

Bai Zhe could only sigh when he heard the resentment in her tone. So she was still hung up over this issue. Fine, if he didn’t explain to her, she might always keep this on her mind. “She and I aren’t how you think of us.”

“If it’s not like that, then what is your relationship?”

“My mother died when I was still very young.” Bai Zhe’s eyes darkened as he thought back to his past. “She died because she had been abandoned by my father who had many women besides her.”

“Bai Zhe…” Fengguang hugged his arm, indicating to him that he didn’t need to say anything else.

But Bai Zhe just laughed and hugged her. He kissed her on the forehead. “Qiu Niannian is very similar to my mother, not in the sense of her looks but rather the feeling she gives off. They’re both like dodder flowers.”

Dodder flowers that couldn’t live on without a man.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be so small-minded.” Fengguang felt guilty for making him reminisce about the past. They didn’t seem like good memories.

“It’s not your fault. I’m doing really well now.”

She got on her tippy-toes and kissed his chin. “I promise, now that I’m here, no one will ever bully you.”

“I’m honored.” He lowered his head and kissed her.

The meeting with Fengxiang Corporation’s General Manager was set at a restaurant by the sea. Bai Zhe carried his documents and went to the designated meeting place. He was not feeling relaxed because from his research, the General Manager of Fengxiang Corporation was a talented, young man and was not easy to please. However, Zhanan had only sent out a secretary which was inappropriate and an insult.

Inside the restaurant, a man and a woman were chatting happily. Bai Zhe’s hand on the door paused as he was about to enter from the hallway. The female voice was one he was very familiar with. A server passed by and opened the door to enter. As a result, he caught a glimpse of the handsome man seated inside beside a beautiful woman.

The woman got up and headed to the door to pull on Bai Zhe’s arm. “Little Fish, this is my boyfriend. How is he, isn’t he handsome?”

The woman was, of course, Fengguang.

“It’s not Little Fish, it’s Xiao Yu.” After he corrected this, he politely looked at Bai Zhe with a bit of distaste. “He’s alright.”

Bai Zhe spoke up. “General Manager Yu, I’m Bai Zhe, the representative who came in place of Zhanan’s CEO.”
