Ye Wanru was terrified, with her eyes wide open and her mind in a state of chaos. The coming Ye Lan was like a freak to her. Her hand holding the whip was shivering, and the whip dropped on the ground with one shiver.
“Fre... freak! Ye Lan is a freak!
Ye Lan kooked at the escaping Ye Wanru indifferently, her hands on her chest, where there used to be a heart hit by a cold shrapnel. Her chest is now thumping with strong liveliness—she was reborn, in the world named Fengtian (phenix flying in the sky) Continent, where the strongest will be revered by all.
She couldn’t help but recall what happened to her before this body was taken—she was seriously wounded and was trapped in a presidential suite… she detonated the bomb at last with her last bits of consciousness.
The heat wave of the blast overwhelmed her.
But time seemed to halt among the chaos.
All the glasses were shattered, the bits going everywhere, some floating in the air and glistening in the fire; the furniture was also blasted into numerous bits of wood.
She saw herself flying out of the window, floating still at the height of 32nd floors, she saw Firefox and the gang in black escaping through the door in panic, their face written with fear for death.
Then all of a sudden, the image was twisted like a whirlpool, and with a sudden contraction, Ye Lan felt that she was sucked into the center of that whirlpool.
The world was all bleached.
She reached her hand to touch the cold thing falling on her face, only to realize it was snow. It was snowing heavily. She felt her body was light, drifting along the cold wind.
At this moment, Ye Lan saw a mother and her daughter. The mother was covered by wounds and bruises, but she tried her best to protect her daughter, without realizing that her daughter had already died as well.
Next to their bodies, there were two small wheat flour buns with shoeprints. People surrounding them were laughing hideously…
Ye Lan couldn’t figure out what they were saying. All she could hear was the whirling wind, drifting her away. She fell on the girl in the woman’s arms.
When she looked up to the girl, she found amazingly the girl’s face was identical to hers.
“We have both the same family name and given name, even the same appearance, what a coincidence.”
Ye Lan looked up in the sky. Snow had now greyed her temples. “Don’t worry, I will not let Ye Wanru get away with this. What Ye family owes to you, I, Ye Lan, will help you get it back!”
She lowered her eyes, gnashing her teeth, “Just wait and see. Blood will have blood!”
After hearing a sigh out of blue, Ye Lan knew that the original owner of this body had fulfilled her wish and went on her reincarnation.
If it’s in her last life, it wouldn’t be a problem for her to carry a body and walk a few miles.
However, on her way carrying the dead old woman to the mountain a few miles away, she found the road rugged and bumpy. She made it to the end after painstaking efforts.
Ye Lan was now sitting on a stone, regaining her breath. She massaged her swollen arms and blistered feet.
This body itself was simply too weak, plus the long-term suffering from cold and hunger, it could barely hold its own weight. Now it was just getting worse with all the wounds.
She gritted her teeth, struggled to stood up and found some Pteris to cover the body of her mother, protecting her from the increasingly heavy snow. Then she found a hard stone and start to dig with that.
Just at this moment, Ye Lan stopped and listened to her surroundings carefully. Suddenly, she threw the stone hard in her hand to a shara tree a hundred steps away.
“Who is it? Get out!”
Ye Lan stood up straight. Her eyes were shining with cold, and the calmness and coldness in her eyes also shocked the person lurking in the dark.
“Impressive, if I had been slower to react, the stone would have knocked my brain out!”
A masked man in a black long gown flashed out from behind the tree.
Ye Lan had a closer look at the man. He was over 8 feet tall with a slim body. His dashing eyebrows were like carved by a knife. Under his thick eyelashes, the look in his dark eyes shrewd and unfathomable.
The man was also taking a look at Ye Lan. A smile appeared under his thin layer of black gauze.
The teenage girl standing in front of him was no more than 16. Her skeleton was delicate with a piece of clothes made of yarn just enough to cover her body. She had bruises and wounds all over her body and one blow of wind seemed to be able to carry her away. Her face that was of startling beauty had now an expression full of pride and indifference, which made her even more supercilious.
There seemed to be a sleeping beast within this little body, making it full of explosive power even if she got hurt.
He complimented, ”Interesting, interesting!”
“Who are you? Why are you lurking behind the tree?”
Ye Lan asked him harshly. Her eyes were fixed on the stone being tossed up and down by the man, in case he had a next move.
She thought maybe this man had something to do with Ye Wanru, “Does Ye Wanru send you here? Trying to kill me?”
“If it’s true, I am afraid it’s not that easy!” she was ready to have a fierce fight with him.
The man shook his head. The long gown and simple clothing could never overshadow his coldness, “You are too weak, not my match at all…”
Without finishing his remarks, he sensed the movement of the sweet wormwood and the next moment he saw Ye Lan had made it to his front, very close to him.
She was holding a bone fork in her backhand. Even though its pointy end seemed to be blunted, it was shining with its sharpness. Looking through her swinging hair, the man saw the back mountain covered with snow and full of tranquility.
“This kind of weapon won’t hurt me!”
The man swung his sleeves and Ye Lan’s bone fork was hit and flew all the way to the stem of the pine tree next to them.
Ye Lan suddenly braked and kicked the stem with both her legs. After a back flip, she ended up on the ground in a balance. She looked into the fork that had gone three-tenths into the stem and was shocked: what a powerful hit!
She could cut through the man’s throat with her wrist power even with a blunt fork without having any difficulties, but this time, the fork was hit down before she could take any further action.
Ye Lan was standing in the snow. The wound left by Ye Wanru’s flogging started to bleed because of the jumping she just made. The blood was now dripping onto the snow, and the snow was dotted with the cheery-shaped blood spots.
“Your wound, is that ok?”
Judging from an onlooker’s perspective, it was impossible for someone to keep fighting when he was wounded, let alone a severely injured girl.
She was very agile and very nimble on her limbs even though she was wounded. When he saw her holding a blunt bone fork as her weapon, there was a touch of shock appeared in his eyes.
Ye Lan stared at him with a tilting look, full of cold and indifference.
The tearing pain of the wound meant nothing to her. The wound she got during her mission before was appalling, as she was once trapped in a jungle, the wound would turn white and worms would come out of it after intermittent soaking in the rain.
“Who on earth are you?”
As far as she could remember, the man simply waved his sleeve and all she could feel was a blow of Qi, and then she had sore wrist and felt senseless and loosened her hand, thus dropping the bone fork.
She thought again: this was no ordinary man. She was currently living in the continent where people looked up to cultivating their spirits. There were nine stages for a man’s spiritual cultivation; every stage had seven levels. The higher stage they were, the higher people’s ranks were.
Ye Lan still had no clue what made spirit cultivator better than others so she kept more vigilant.
She asked, “Are you a spirit cultivator?”
“Are you afraid?” the masked man chuckled, “If you are, just stop where you were and keep on burying your mother…”
But the man knew that the stubborn and proud girl would not end this so easily. It turned out Ye Lan was preparing another attack.
