Ye Lan hit her bottleneck during the spiritual cultivation, the white-browed senior suggested that she didn’t have to worry about making her breakthrough but to walk outside for some relax instead.
After dinner, she was about to take Xiao Hei out with her.
“You are not coming?”
Xiao Hei nodded and said, “I would rather not be seen by others.”
“Well then, I can enjoy myself being alone!” Ye Lan didn’t ask Xiao Hei why as she knew every person had his own secret.
“I will protect you.” He came in the front of Ye Lan, flushed in his cheeks, “I can hide in the dark, to protect you… I will be wherever you are.”
“Even if I am gone, you will still be there.”
Xiao Hei disappeared after saying all that.
Ye Lan chuckled at him flushing while chatting with her. Who were you actually, Xiao Hei? What an interesting guy!
After she crossed the corridor of the residence and then the peach forest, she jumped over the fence and then got on a path closet to the downtown street.
Ye Lan then made a shortcut and turned into an alley, at the end of it, she could see crowds of people, hustling and bustling.
Ye Lan followed the crowds and turned left and right, strolling on the street and finally bought some snacks.
Out of nowhere, a weapon store caught her interest.
She saw there were two couplets on two sides of the store, on the left gilding dark wood, it read ‘Centuries-Old Sword Guarding the World’, and on the right it read ‘Age-old Blade Shifting the Universe’, a plaque hung in the middle, which read “Masterpiece Weaponry”.
“The store owner is so full of himself!” Ye Lan sneered at seeing it, “How can it be called ‘Masterpiece Weaponry’ if the store only sells some ancient bronze blades and swords.””
“You are not a native here, right?” A vendor selling rice cake next to the store asked her after hearing what she said and explained to her, “This weapon store is a household name in the Ye City.”
“Legend had it that the store has been passed on to many generations for over a thousand years, and there were indeed some masterpiece weapons being made in the store. Like what was written on the plaque, one of them was the Xuantie Sword (sword made of meteoric iron), and the other Qinghua Blade, was one of a kind among the blade family…”
It was necessary to have a handy weapon in a world she was not familiar with.
After saying goodbye to the vendor, Ye Lan stepped into the weapon store and found that it was an old and luxurious one. An array of weapons emitting their unique metal luminescence with the light from the legendary luminous pearl. An owner-look man soon came forward.
“Miss, which artifact do you want here?”
These words reminded her of the previous life.
Ye Lan used to be a remote sniper and always used Scout Rifle, although it was not top-ranking gun, but she loved it because it was light and easy to carry.
However, it seemed impossible to find this gun in the ancient times.
As for hand-to-hand combat, Ye Lan was used to taking a shanked dagger with her. The dagger would be four inches long and easy to hide but quick to get out, making it possible for her to take a head start.
In her previous life, Ye Lan had only used one and the only one dagger throughout her life, which is called “Blood Thorn”. The dagger was from one famous assassin in the history, unfortunately, he didn’t accomplish the assassination and was later murdered.
She got the dagger ‘Blood Thorn’ from a royal grave; its shank might be made of carved wood and was rotten already. She then asked a Japanese craftsman to make a new shank out of tempered glass, using a technique once belonged to Edo Kiriko.
This dagger had her company no matter what and always helped her head off the danger.
Ye Lan decided to choose one dagger and asked, “Do you have daggers here?”
“Yes, yes…this way, Miss!”
The owner pointed at the daggers over the counter and chuckled, “You can find namely every weapon in Masterpiece Weaponry, here… we have every single type of dagger throughout Fengtian Continent!”
Ye Lan had a glance at the daggers and started to pick carefully while the owner continued to serve other guests.
“Wow, Master Jin! What brings you here?” The store owner bowed and scraped to welcome the coming guest.
“What? Old Wu, am I not welcome here?”
“What are you talking about, Master! I am so eager to see you here; you are the one that I am always looking forward to serving.”
The potbellied Master Jin waved his hands happily with his face full of joy; the servant behind gave a big piece of gold to Old Wu instantly.
“This is for you!”
“Thank you, Master!”
Master Jin looked around and could never move his eyes away from Ye Lan. He beckoned Old Wu, who was about to go, back and whispered, “Who is this little beauty there?”
Old Wu knew it all and responded pleasingly, “I don’t know who she is… even though she really is a goddess from heaven, she’s going to be yours anyway, isn’t it?”
“Come on, Old Wu, you can’t say that…” having said this, Master Jin looked at Ye Lan obscenely, so obsessed that he began drooling.
The owner kept flattering Master Jin, “No woman will disobey you if you want them, Master Jin! Throughout the Fengtian Continent, almost everyone knows that you are the eldest son of the Jinyin Commercial Firm? You are the future of the firm! You own half of the Continent! Anything you want, just name it.”
“Haha! Stop flattering me, Old Wu!”
Master Jin had a few obscene laughs and walked forward to hit on Ye Lan.
“Are you alone here, Miss?”
Ye Lan didn’t even look up; her indifference unnerved Master Jin.
He moved next to her and tried to lean against her, “You are here for picking a dagger?”
Ye Lan didn’t say a thing and walked away a few steps as soon as Master Jin tried to get close.
“This is a nice dagger” Master picked up a dagger randomly and called in a loud voice, “Old Wu! Come!”
“Anything I can do, Master Jin?”
“Wrap this dagger up for this lady here!”
Ye Lan didn’t bother looking at the dagger the owner passed to her and kept looking by herself.
Old Wu winked at her as he saw Ye Lan didn’t accept the daggers, signaling that she’d better take it as she didn’t want to mess up with this Master Jin.
He whispered to her with good intention, “Girl, just take it, this is a gift from Master Jin!”
Old Wu was wondering to have a word with Ye Lan, but he held his tongue when he saw her hard look.
It felt freezing cold! Old Wu shivered though wearing a cotton-padded jacket.
Master Jin squeezed Old Wu away to get to the front of Ye Lan and asked her grinningly, “You don’t like this one? Well… I, I will get you another one!”
He made a random grab on the counter so that he had quite a few daggers at hand and held them to her front.
“Miss, Miss… these are all for you!”
Ye Lan cast a cold look at him and saw his concupiscence to its full; she giggled at this and her eyes became even cooler.
“You look gorgeous with that smile!” In order to make her happy, Master Jin pointed at the store and said, “Anything you like in the shop, make your choice, all on my bill.”
Old Wu was beyond happiness and urged Ye Lan, “This is all Master Jin’s kindness, it would be totally unreasonable if you keep saying no to it.”
“Come on! Old Wu, how can you say that? This lady here will never be so unreasonable, right?” On the surface, Master Jin seemed to blame Old Wu, but underneath he laughed even more to the extent that his face turned into lumps of meat.
Ye Lan sneered at his words and asked, “I really don’t have any idea what this Mister wants?”
“Why are you still asking this kind of question?” Old Wu was astounded to see for the first time a girl would be blunt enough to say no to Master Jin, “Obviously Master Jin wants to…”
“Master… no, me, I want you to be my 28th concubine!” Master Jin finally made himself clear after saying it out.
“Concubine?”
Old Wu trembled at the voice of Ye Lan, which carried her icy indifference, however, Master didn’t seem to understand that he was playing fire and still enjoyed doing so.
“So, my little beauty doesn’t want to be a concubine, huh? Fine, no problem! As long as you promise to marry me, I will divorce my wife immediately!”
“What are you still hesitating about? Didn’t you hear what Master Jin said? Just say yes!”
Old Wu gave her a stare and found this emotionless girl too difficult to deal with, “This person is the eldest son of the Jinyin Commercial Firm, you will have no worry about your life once you get married to him!”
“You guys. So annoying.”
Ye Lan turned around and faced the two persons straight, her eyes still icy cool along with her shocking motionless face.
She glanced sideways and the forceful pressing feeling made Master Jin back up a few steps.
“Get lost!”
Old Wu instantly knelt down as he felt his legs being weak after hearing the groan.
