Chapter 8: You Don’t Understand My Pain
From the beginning, he’d had to struggle with Qin Xin and Yu Linfei for his life.
Although the room was warm, he could still feel a kind of coldness from deep inside. One day at Yu Linfei’s house, Wen Cheng found something that he couldn’t ignore.
There was no trace left of him in Yu Linfei’s house.
He had lived with Yu Linfei for over three years and was very familiar with the house he’d once lived in. However, these decorations and pieces of furniture made him feel strange.
He suddenly remembered that when Yu Linfei and he were first together, Yu Linfei had brought up the idea of redecorating his house. At that time, he hadn’t yet brought Wen Cheng home. When Wen Cheng said that he wanted to visit his home, Yu Linfei said that he’d take Wen Cheng to the house once he redecorated.
In Wen Cheng’s opinion, Yu Linfei seemed to like to say goodbye to an old phase of his life by redecorating his house.
Now? Had he become that past he’d said farewell to?
Wen Cheng couldn’t help but feel cold from head to toe. He never thought that Yu Linfei could erase so easily those three years of feelings, even renovating his house so that Wen Cheng would completely disappear from his life.
What a merciless heart… Laying on the sofa, Wen Cheng looked around at the unfamiliar furniture and sighed. He still didn’t understand why Yu Linfei killed him. Now it seemed that his death had no impact on Yu Linfei whatsoever; he was even in the mood to raise a cat for fun.
But was he resigned? Was he really resigned? Wen Cheng looked at the fluffy paws and soft body of a cat. What if he wasn’t resigned to it, could he kill Yu Linfei with a bite?
Obviously, Yu Linfei didn’t know what kind of dangerous ideas were brewing on his cat’s mind. He was still very happily preparing lunch for himself. Although Qin Xin’s arrival did slightly affect his mood, he was still happy in general. He didn’t know why, but he felt happy when he looked at Little Black.
Yu Linfei seldom cooked for himself.
He was usually very busy, and had no time or need to deal with hateful oil fumes. He would never go into the kitchen to wash his hands and make soup (1), but today Yu Linfei made an exception and did it himself.
Not thinking about what factors were affecting his mood, Yu Linfei simply fried two dishes, made a soup, and planned to make do with it for lunch.
In fact, Yu Linfei didn’t like to be alone at home. The empty house felt cold and lonely, and turning on the TV seemed to make it worse. His parents were far away from home and he didn’t have many good friends to play with, so there were never many people in the room.
It was better not to go back to a home where there was only one person.
Once the dishes were served, Yu Linfei looked at the kitten who’d moved into his home yesterday.
In all honesty, Yu Linfei didn’t like pets very much. He didn’t have much time to spare, and the small creatures seemed extremely fragile. It seemed like they would vanish if he didn’t properly care about them. Yu Linfei felt that he didn’t need to spend so much energy on unimportant things, so his first reaction when He Yi asked if he wanted a pet was to refuse him.
But demons and gods must have been at work because Yu Linfei had somehow agreed to it. Only when he hung up on He Yi’s call did he fully react. Well, if he called back it would be too unkind. After thinking for a long time, Yu Linfei could only helplessly accept reality.
Still, it turned out that this decision was probably the best one he’d made recently. Yu Linfei knew that cats had a high IQ, but he didn’t expect a pet to understand him so well. However, at the first sight of Little Black, Yu Linfei felt that the cat in front of him wasn’t simple… he really saw it in the eyes of the kitten… disdain.
Yu Linfei, who was despised by a cat, didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry. But because of this, he also had a strong interest in Little Black. How could a cat who hated him have a low IQ? Everything that happened later confirmed Yu Linfei’s idea. When he saw Little Black howling and yelling at being bullied, and those big round eyes looking teary, Yu Linfei actually got a distorted sense of satisfaction from his own cat… Seriously, he felt that making Little Black cry… this incident was very exciting…
Although he also knew that there was something wrong with the S-attribute (2) breakout in his body, Yu Linfei didn’t have any plan to suppress it. After all, no matter how spiritual a cat could be, it was just a pastime in his eyes.
The biggest functions were to stir up some fun and make the house more lively.
Thinking deeply, when Yu Linfei came back to his senses he was shocked by the scene in front of him.
He saw the little kitten who was originally obediently staying on the sofa. Yu Linfei wasn’t sure when, but he’d climbed up his knee along the trouser leg and looked like he was struggling to hook the food on the table.
“… Little Black…” Holding the cat that looked about to fall, Yu Linfei helplessly poked Wen Cheng’s nose, “What are you doing?”
“Meow.” I’m not full. Wen Cheng, who was attracted by the delicious food, expressed that he was very dissatisfied. Although the two cans were meat, they were obviously insufficient in weight. Besides, he was also growing up and got hungry very quickly.
Squatting on the sofa and watching Yu Linfei put the cooked food on the table, he started to feel dazed. He couldn’t bear the temptation and decided to be self-reliant.
However, after a long time of meowing and meowing at Yu Linfei’s feet, the man who was off on a mental journey through the heavens didn’t recover. Seeing this, Wen Cheng was powerless, but he decided to improve his level of self-reliance. He began to climb up along Yu Linfei’s trouser leg… and finally, climbed to the top of the Forbidden City, oh no, it was just Yu Linfei’s knee.
He stretched out to climb on the table, but he didn’t think that Yu Linfei would finally recover…
“Oh, Little Black, do you want to eat your gege’s cooking?” With a look of surprise in his eyes, Yu Linfei teased Wen Cheng with a smile, “Didn’t you just eat a can of food? Can cats casually eat meat?”
Of course!! I’m not a normal cat!! Wen Cheng meowed in response to Yu Linfei’s heavily teasing tone.
Though he could again feel his cat’s contempt for him, Yu Linfei smiled cheerily. He put Wen Cheng on his knee and touched his head. “Out of the question, He Yi said that cats can’t eat anything too salty. If you have kidney stones, then Little Black’s little brother won’t be able to potty…”
… You don’t have to be so straightforward. Really, Yu Linfei’s unadorned words hit him until he had cuts and bruises all over. Wen Cheng’s very perked up ears drooped… he really didn’t want cat food.
“Haha, Little Black, you’re a cat. You know what dogs do with their ears, will you wag your tail in the future?” Both amused and happy at Wen Cheng’s reaction, Yu Linfei said, “Just now your gege ate your canned food, won’t you be compensated later?”
What compensation? Looking up at Yu Linfei, Wen Cheng blinked his eyes.
“Yes, how about getting good fish for Little Black?” Glancing at Wen Cheng’s starry eyes, Yu Linfei put Wen Cheng on his knee and filled a bowl of rice for himself.
“Oh, Little Black, first please don’t make trouble.” Yu Linfei felt like a vile character flourishing (3) as he ate his own food, being stared at by Wen Cheng with jealousy and a little hatred, forming a heavy psychological pressure.
… Yu Linfei, you’re such a jerk!! Really? Quietly grinding his teeth, Wen Cheng began to seriously think about the feasibility of killing Yu Linfei.
“Alright, alright…” Knowing that Little Black’s fur was going to explode again soon, Yu Linfei took out a bag of dried fish from who knows where for the cat. He tore up the bag and put it on the table and put Wen Cheng down next to it.
Wen Cheng, who was finally able to eat, ate up the dried fish in a few mouthfuls. He licked his paw and wiped his face with it, then again moved his eyes to the two dishes made by Yu Linfei.
To tell the truth, the dishes made by Yu Linfei seemed very ordinary looking. They were a plate of scrambled eggs with tomato, pork strips stir-fried with yuxiang, and a cucumber soup. (4) Yet why did he want to eat it so much? … Was it residual injuries from eating milk and cat food?
“Hey, do you still want to eat?” Being stared at by Wen Cheng’s eyes, Yu Linfei reluctantly put down his bowl, “How much can you eat with that little belly?”
Yes, really!! He’s trying to tell Yu Linfei with his eyes that he can still eat!! He isn’t full yet!!
But reality was always cruel. Yu Linfei reached for Wen Cheng’s soft stomach and gently poked… The bulging feeling clearly told him that Little Black must not eat any more…
“If you were stuffed to death by me, He Yi would absolutely come to find me.” Resisting Wen Cheng’s acting cute, Yu Linfei sighed, “How about eating again at night?”
Not good!!!! Wen Cheng just wanted to roll around and make a scene! Meowu, he could still eat!! Could still eat!! Just one bite…
“… Not a bite.” As if understanding Wen Cheng’s meaning, Yu Linfei said seriously, “Being so full you burst is definitely the dumbest way of dying in the world, bar none!”
… Okay, to put it bluntly, you won’t give me food… knowing Yu Linfei’s thoughts, Wen Cheng wanted to jump to the ground and go back to his basket.
“Wait…” Yu Linfei suddenly spoke.
Did he agree to let him eat?? Wen Cheng raised his head in surprise.
“The table is too high, let me carry you down.” Wen Cheng obviously underestimated the hardness of Yu Linfei’s heart.

The author has something to say:
Try to reject the canned tuna, corn, liver, and intestines and don’t try cat food…it’s got a heavy fishy flavor and is a little sour…QVQ, in fact I was told what some good cat food is… You buy it and have to eat it up secretly… In other words, please remember to eat on the sly and hide from your cat when stealing = =
Translator Notes: The author has a way of putting something disquieting and following it up with something funny and lighthearted…
Once again, this translator does not advocate the eating of cat food.

1. “洗手作羹汤” Represents a woman willing to work for the husband she loves and do things she doesn’t want to do.
2. S from sadomasochism. He’s turning into a sadist essentially, but I think sadism towards a cat is just animal cruelty…
3. “小人得志” a clearer explanation for this is an inferior person gets into a position of power, becoming conceited and arrogant
4. Tomato egg stir fry:
Yu xiang rou si (yuxiang is Chinese seasoning meaning fish flavor, has no fish in it):
Cucumber soup (wasn’t able to find a recipe in English I liked):
