"Quick, Lily, transform!"

This was the only solution Hao Ren could think of at the moment. That familiar scent of blood and the chilling sensation had returned, and he knew that as a mere human, he stood no chance against the monster that looked human but was actually something else. However, after shouting those words, he didn't have much hope: he was less than two meters away from the "girl" in front of him!

A gust of wind came from behind, and Hao Ren knew that the transformed Lily was rushing to his rescue. At the same time, he immediately exerted force with his feet, preparing to jump to the side to let the werewolf and the suspected vampire face each other, which would ensure his safety!

But he overestimated his reaction speed, or perhaps underestimated the combat ability of the "other." Almost as soon as he had the idea to dodge, the black-haired girl in front of him moved with a speed far beyond human reaction time. She grabbed Hao Ren's arm with a force that could almost break it, pulling him behind her and warning in a pleasant voice, "Be careful!"

Hao Ren was stunned the moment he was flung away: Did that "be careful" just come from this dangerous creature in front of him?

At this moment, Lily finally arrived at the door, half a step late. Hao Ren despaired as he saw that the werewolf girl, who had a screw loose, had neither transformed nor picked up a weapon. She was still dressed in her casual, lively home attire, her hair not turning white, and her ears not showing. This girl even bounced to the door, cheerfully shouting, "Landlord, landlord, I'm here! Are you expecting a delivery?"

Hao Ren's heart almost exploded with a nearly tragic roar: This moron! No teamwork at all!

Lily's moronic behavior made Hao Ren completely give up on escaping from the vampire. Even though Lily immediately transformed and picked up two bricks from the door to prepare for battle upon seeing the unfamiliar black-haired girl, he still felt hopeless: He shouldn't have pinned his hopes on this werewolf with a screw loose since last night! Hanging a couple of garlic cloves on his neck would probably be more reliable than Lily!

Of course, he would later find out: For a certain vampire, garlic doesn't work either.

Lily saw that her landlord had already been pulled away by the enemy, and a look of frustration flashed across her face. But she still gripped the bricks tightly and growled threateningly, "Vampire... it's daytime now. You couldn't beat me at night, and you certainly can't during the day! Release the landlord, and I'll spare your life!"

The black-haired girl, now confirmed to be a vampire, showed no fear. She stood between Hao Ren and Lily, her right hand extended in a defensive stance, her sharp nails slowly growing longer. A cold and bloody aura began to swirl around her body, while her left hand subtly moved behind her back, waving at Hao Ren in a way that seemed to be urging him to leave.

"Werewolf, when did beasts start pretending to blend in with humans in cities!" The vampire girl's voice was cold and mocking, though it carried a hint of weakness. Her disdain for Lily was evident, despite being hit by two bricks the night before. "Isn't catching rabbits in the wilderness your real job?"

"Hmph!" Lily snorted, "Stupid vampire, you wouldn't guess that I can't catch rabbits at all!"

Hao Ren almost wanted to bash his head against the wall, sparing the werewolf with a screw loose the trouble: This moron, moron, moron!

Even the usually calm vampire girl was taken aback by Lily's unconventional response. She almost laughed but then continued to wave her left hand behind her back. Hao Ren heard a voice directly in his ear, "Human, run first. I'll hold this werewolf back... even in the daytime, holding her back isn't a problem!"

Hao Ren: "...What?"

At this moment, Lily, surprisingly, wasn't being moronic. She noticed the vampire's momentary distraction and immediately growled, charging forward with the bricks. She didn't throw them recklessly, possibly to avoid hitting her landlord, who was right next to her.

"Die, winged rat!"

The vampire girl fearlessly met her, a faint red blood trail forming in the air as her nails, now extended to over ten centimeters, stabbed at Lily's chest like a cluster of small daggers. "Die, beast that can only catch rabbits!"

"Stupid vampire! I told you I can't catch rabbits!"

"Don't think you can distract me with the same trick. For a vampire, the same tactic won't work twice!"

In the time it took Hao Ren to be stunned, the two supernatural beings were already locked in combat. Lily, like a silver glow, darted around the entrance of the rental apartment, desperately trying to reach Hao Ren. The mysterious vampire girl, despite it being daytime, showed no significant disadvantage in speed. She became a black blur, her red blood trails and sharp claws attacking wildly, always managing to suppress the werewolf just as she was about to break through. Their roars and shouts echoed from multiple positions simultaneously, far beyond the reaction speed of human eyes and ears!

But Hao Ren had recovered from his initial shock. Though he wasn't sure of the truth, he knew he couldn't let them continue fighting. For one thing, he was worried someone might see this bizarre scene!

Even in this remote area, there were still people living here. It was already morning, and the few residents on this street could come out at any moment. The noise from Lily and the vampire girl's fight was significant, and if someone saw it, it would definitely cause trouble—Lily might end up being dissected by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and served in the cafeteria! Hao Ren fully believed in the country's appetite for such things!

Seeing a gate at the end of the street slowly opening, Hao Ren was anxious. He shouted at the top of his lungs, "Stop! Don't fight!"

His shout was earth-shattering. Hao Ren could almost imagine being questioned by the elderly neighbors in a few days about whether he was a victim of domestic violence, but the shout was effective. The two storms created by Lily and the vampire girl immediately stopped. They both looked at Hao Ren in confusion, then quickly glared at each other again.

Lily still looked full of fighting spirit, as if the previous battle was just a warm-up. The vampire girl, however, seemed to have expended a lot of energy. She was panting, her face flushed abnormally, indicating that fighting a werewolf at close range in the sunlight wasn't easy. But one thing was the same: despite the intense battle, neither of them had broken a sweat.

The vampire girl's cold aura was freezing.

"You might have a misunderstanding!" Hao Ren, seeing the two glaring at each other, knew they could start fighting again at any moment. He quickly stepped between them (leaning slightly toward Lily) and said, "I need to confirm something: this vampire girl, you didn't actually intend to kill me, right?"

As soon as he said this, Hao Ren felt it was a bit strange, but he didn't have time to choose his words carefully. He sensed that there was a significant misunderstanding between the werewolf and the vampire, pointing to a troublesome possibility.

The vampire girl immediately widened her eyes, glancing at Hao Ren while still being wary of Lily. "I wanted to save you!"

Before Hao Ren could respond, Lily interjected, "Who are you fooling! You want to suck the landlord's blood! I've seen it on TV; none of you vampires are good!"

Hao Ren suddenly realized something: why did this werewolf get so much of her knowledge from TV? Was this her first time seeing a vampire?

"Didn't you kidnap this human first!" The vampire girl's narrow eyes narrowed further, with a murderous intent. "Kidnapping a human, forcing them to cover for you, and then living in a human town—werewolves haven't had many smart ones. This trick has been used for centuries and hasn't changed—no wonder you're almost extinct."

Lily and the vampire girl continued to glare at each other, but their confidence seemed to be waning.

Hao Ren, standing between them, finally slapped his forehead. "Sigh, what a mess... don't fight, let's go home and talk!"
