Chapter 14

Lin Bei couldn't clearly see what kind of bird it was in the sky, nor did he know how big it was, but the creature in the sky could see Lin Bei clearly. After circling for a while, it let out a loud cry and then flapped its wings and flew away, having chickened out.
Hawks and eagles are natural enemies of snakes, but it depends on the size of both parties. A small eagle can still be eaten by a large snake. Lin Bei was now huge, and although they lacked intelligence, they knew it was impossible to kill Lin Bei, so they wouldn't waste their efforts. Many animals in nature are quite adorable; if they can't win, they just won't fight.
Lin Bei felt a bit lonely and disappointed, hoping that the bird in the sky would be a bit foolish and come down to fight a deadly battle with him, but it turned out to be just a fantasy.
The night grew deeper.
The cold moon climbed up the treetops, and the stars twinkled in the sky, signaling that the night had fully descended.
There were no streetlights in the forest, and without any lighting tools, it was pitch black, truly dark as a cave. Lin Bei's mental state was extremely good, almost to the point of being overly excited. This was the snake's instinct influencing Lin Bei's thoughts. Lin Bei used to be a good man, going to bed on time and never staying up late.
The arrival of night made the sounds in the forest less frequent, but the sense of danger became more intense.
The two snakes had already caught and eaten two fat toads, and then left with satisfaction. Snakes don't have a large appetite; one frog is enough to sustain them for several days, so they wouldn't need to eat again for a while.
"Grunt, grunt..."
From a distance came a noisy call, and the ground also trembled slightly. It was a large group of wild boars.
There are three things in the forest that you shouldn't provoke: tigers, wild boars, and bears. Wild boars are second on the list because everyone knows that wild boars have thick skin and become even more aggressive when injured. Since wild boars often live in groups, if a hunter encounters them, it's best to stay away. When this group of wild boars arrived, Lin Bei noticed that there were almost no other animals around, as they had all been scared away. Clearly, the wild boars were also dominant in this area, with a deterrent power even greater than that of tigers.
The wild boars came to drink water, and they didn't have the concept of bathing frequently. However, their noses were always busy. After drinking water, they would root around in the surrounding soil, uprooting all the weeds and finding the tender stems to eat, enjoying themselves.
One wild boar wobbled over to the pond, possibly intrigued by the smooth green dragon stone, and leaped onto it. It grunted a few times and then, with a "plop," Lin Bei was shocked to see that it actually defecated on the green dragon stone, and a large pile of feces appeared.
"Damn, too damn unhygienic."
Seeing the pig's legs stepping on the feces and then stomping around on the green dragon stone, Lin Bei's anger flared up. He couldn't tolerate it.
Lin Bei had already considered this place his territory, and it would be his home in the future. Now, outsiders were defecating and urinating in his home, making a mess everywhere. It was strange if Lin Bei could tolerate it. Moreover, Lin Bei knew that wild boars wouldn't care about these things. Since they could come here once, they would come again. Lin Bei couldn't clean up after them every day, so the best way was to drive them away.
Lin Bei's body rose up, and he swayed a few times on the tree, making a rustling sound. This sound immediately caught the attention of the wild boars, who all looked over. Although it was pitch black, Lin Bei was sure that the wild boars could see him. However, the wild boars didn't seem to care about Lin Bei, continuing to root in the ground and defecate, enjoying themselves.
"Very good, I like your foolish and simple nature," Lin Bei sneered in his heart. He coiled his tail around a tree branch and slid down from the large locust tree, heading towards the wild boar on the green dragon stone.
As he approached the green dragon stone, the wild boar didn't move, just staring at Lin Bei with red eyes. Lin Bei, being a beast, didn't follow any rules and swung the branch directly.
Although it wasn't a sneak attack, the effect was similar. Lin Bei's speed increased as he swung the branch, thanks to his enhanced control over his body. The wild boar didn't expect Lin Bei to use a weapon, and the branch struck it directly.
The wild boar let out a piercing cry and flew off the green dragon stone, being hit by Lin Bei's branch and landing three meters away, thrashing its legs. From the outside, it didn't seem to have suffered much damage, showing its thick skin and tough flesh.
Lin Bei, not letting up, moved forward and swung the branch again, this time striking the wild boar's head with great force.
The group of wild boars was not small, and wild boars are fierce animals. Lin Bei wanted to set an example, so he didn't hold back. The branch, as thick as a thigh, struck the wild boar with a force of several thousand pounds.
Lin Bei could feel the vibration when the branch made contact with the wild boar's head. The wild boar's head burst open, blood splattering from its mouth and neck, and its head was shattered, causing it to die instantly.
It looked quite cruel, but this was the most fundamental way to protect his own interests. Reasoning with animals wouldn't work; the law of the jungle is that the strong eat the weak, and might is right.
Moreover, the number of wild boars was too large, reaching over twenty, severely disrupting the balance of the forest. Lin Bei had already started to consider the entire forest as his territory, so this situation was not allowed. A healthy food chain was the guarantee for the forest's continued prosperity.
The death of one wild boar made the remaining ones restless, grunting but not attacking. This made Lin Bei a bit puzzled. I've killed your companion, and you're not seeking revenge?
In fact, in nature, the concept of revenge is rare. Otherwise, how could predators attack groups of prey? For animals without intelligence, living in groups often means that the slowest one will be the prey when a predator attacks. The next time, the second slowest one will be the prey. If the group sought revenge after one was killed, the predator would have no way to survive. So the current situation was not strange at all.
Lin Bei vaguely understood this but not thoroughly. He realized that the tactic of setting an example didn't work well with the wild boars, so he stopped wasting his efforts and instead used the branch to beat the ground, making a loud "thud" sound, and stood up to intimidate the wild boars.
Surprisingly, this method worked well. One wild boar turned and ran away, and then the entire group moved.
Lin Bei followed behind, continuously making noise until he drove the wild boars away for over five miles.
"Wild animals don't have good memories. Next time, I'll intercept them halfway when they reach the dragon pond and scare them again. After a few times, the wild boars probably won't come anymore."
