The actual duration of the battle between the wolf pack and Lin Bei was not long. Excluding the time spent on probing, the real combat time did not exceed thirty seconds, but it was extremely dangerous.
Through this battle, Lin Bei thoroughly understood a principle: the fights between animals are always to the death. This is different from ordinary human fights, where it's either you die or I die. Therefore, Lin Bei must adapt to this.
Moreover, Lin Bei also recognized his own shortcomings. After adapting to this body, Lin Bei was full of confidence about the future, believing that he could dominate the forest without any hindrance. However, now it seems that although this body is indeed strong, it is far from invincible. The protective power of the scales is not as impenetrable as Lin Bei had guessed. Considering that even wolf teeth can bite through, encountering weapons like bows and arrows or large knives would still make this body quite vulnerable. Therefore, he must not be complacent.
Additionally, through the wolf pack, Lin Bei saw the power of teamwork. To be frank, a single wolf would not pose any threat to Lin Bei, but once the numbers increase, the power becomes significant. The victory just now was more due to Lin Bei's wisdom. But this was only about twenty wolves. What if there were more, say a hundred? In the face of overwhelming strength, wisdom becomes almost insignificant. Simply put, if you can't win, you can't win.
Through the wolf pack, Lin Bei also thought about humans. Now he is a giant python, and any encounter with humans would likely end in a fight to the death. Humans are much stronger than wild beasts, and a few warriors with cold weapons could probably kill Lin Bei. This is something Lin Bei absolutely does not want to see. No one wants to die, and Lin Bei is no exception.
Therefore, Lin Bei must enhance his strength, whether it's against wild beasts or humans. The root of the problem lies in increasing his strength.
To be honest, Lin Bei does not want to be isolated in the forest. He is essentially human and yearns for communication and interaction with others. This means that Lin Bei must leave the forest, a thought that crossed his mind when he realized he was in ancient times.
Modern society is too dangerous, with technology everywhere. Even if Lin Bei hid in the Amazon rainforest, he would likely be found. But ancient times are different. Technology is primitive, and cold weapons are still in use. Even if Lin Bei were discovered, he is confident that he could hide and not be caught.
The deep forests of ancient times are absolutely off-limits to humans. Even a few thousand soldiers would be no match. Otherwise, the ancient mountain tribes would not have thrived. So even if Lin Bei interacts with humans, he is not too afraid. He will first try to integrate into human society, and if it doesn't work, he can always return to the forest.
After pondering for a while, Lin Bei examined his injuries. After a few glances, he was surprised to find that the bleeding had stopped, and the muscles were contracting, as if slowly moving. The wound was healing abnormally fast. The wolf teeth embedded in the muscles were being expelled by the muscle's instinctive movement. According to Lin Bei's estimate, this wound would heal completely in no more than three days. This speed was simply astonishing.
"Such a strong body," Lin Bei marveled again.
Snakes are known for their resilience, meaning they are very hard to kill. Now, with such an amazing recovery ability, Lin Bei believes that as long as he is not killed in one blow, he will be back to full strength in a few days. This undoubtedly provides an additional layer of security for Lin Bei.
His stomach growled, reminding him that he was hungry and needed to eat. Otherwise, even if snakes are hard to kill, they will still starve to death without food.
Lin Bei climbed down from the tree. He originally intended to head in the direction of the hunters, but after some thought, he changed his mind and returned to the battlefield with the wolf pack.
Lin Bei had killed fifteen wolves, and because of the violent deaths, the scene was extremely bloody. Strangely, there were no other creatures around, not even bird calls, and the area was eerily silent.
This was not surprising. Lin Bei and the wolves were among the top predators in the forest. The other animals, recognizing their inferiority, were scared away and would avoid the battlefield for some time. After a while, as the scent of Lin Bei and the wolves gradually faded, other animals would return.
The fifteen wolves were almost flattened, but their skins were still intact. Lin Bei roughly examined them and found that about ten of the skins were relatively complete. He used his tail to wrap around a thick vine, preparing to gather the wolf skins. Suddenly, his body froze.
"Damn, how could I be so stupid?" Lin Bei scolded himself.
Lin Bei is human, and the biggest difference between humans and animals is the ability to use tools. When he thought about using a vine to tie the wolf skins, this idea suddenly struck him, and he realized he had made a mistake.
During the battle with the wolf pack, he had forgotten to use tools and relied solely on instinct. What else could this be but a mistake? Lin Bei hit his head with his tail, feeling both amused and frustrated.
"If I had used tools just now, I probably wouldn't have been injured. But what tools should I use?"
Lin Bei has no limbs, so some tools, like bows and arrows, are clearly unusable. Soon, Lin Bei had an idea.
Looking around, Lin Bei spotted his target: a small tree as thick as an adult's thigh, straight and about ten meters tall. Lin Bei swam over, wrapped around the tree, and with a sudden burst of strength, snapped it with a crack.
He then broke off the top of the tree, wrapped the trunk with his tail, and rubbed it against a large tree several times to remove the branches and leaves, forming a wooden club about five meters long.
This simple wooden club was not aesthetically pleasing, but Lin Bei was very satisfied. He swung the club in the air with his tail, finding it quite easy to handle. Although it wasn't as light as straw, he believed he could swing it for an hour or two without any problem.
Lin Bei practiced a few swings, and the results were quite evident.
The wooden club extended his reach, and when swung, it moved quickly, producing a whistling sound. Any shrubs or vines it touched would break immediately. The club's length extended his attack range by several meters. Lin Bei was confident that even if he faced a giant bear, a single strike would result in a shattered skull. If he had used the club in the battle with the wolf pack, he probably wouldn't have been injured.
Creating his first weapon, Lin Bei was very pleased. The forest is never short of wood, and if his body grows larger, he can use even longer clubs. With a weapon in hand, his strength has greatly increased, and more importantly, Lin Bei has found his direction.
Lin Bei, in high spirits, almost forgot his hunger. He found several thick vines, tied up the wolves with their bones and skins, and made a knot with the vines. He then threaded the wooden club through the knot and carried it as he headed in the direction of the hunters.
Following the trail left by the hunters, Lin Bei returned to the small river. The hunters had gone upstream, and after crawling for a while, Lin Bei could already sense the presence of humans, the same hunters from earlier.
The small river flowed through some rock crevices, and ahead was a large cliff about thirty meters high. On top of the cliff, an old wooden shed, similar to a lookout tower, was built. The hunters were up there, with one male hunter lying in the grass outside the shed, vigilantly watching the surroundings, clearly assigned to a specific role. The large ox was placed behind, probably grazing.
The wooden shed's position was high, providing a clear view of the surroundings. Lin Bei had not tried to hide, so the male hunter had already seen him. He first rubbed his eyes in disbelief, then his face changed dramatically.
Lin Bei's current appearance was indeed quite bizarre. Ignoring his size, he was carrying a large bundle of wolf skins on a thick wooden club. The hunter was shocked by this human-like behavior.
Then, the hunter saw Lin Bei stop and wave the club, as if greeting him. The hunter was completely stunned.
PS: It's the Mid-Autumn Festival. I wish everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival, but I'm not happy today. My computer broke down and I've been fixing it from noon until past five. I haven't even had dinner, let alone mooncakes. However, since it's a holiday, I will speed up my updates after the holiday. I also hope for more favorites and recommendations.
