354 A Peak Into His World

Although it was night time, the tranquil skies shone brightest, as if it wanted to eliminate any darkness. In the wilderness, a silhouette of a petite figured strode like the wind with a destination in mind and nothing would stop it from moving forward.
Suddenly, bursting down the entrance was a young cherry voice, announcing enthusiastically, "I'm here!"
Busy, roasting meat on a fire pit, the young boy turned to look at the figure, a young girl who radiated so much radiance, it could light up the world of darkness, though his eyes showed slight worries. "Weren't you supposed to be grounded?"
"Don't worry. I got things under control." She replied haughtily as if she was invincible and the mere grounded could do nothing to her.
Soon, the aroma of the roasted meat filled the place. "It's ready. Eat some." The boy spoke while handing the meat stick to the girl.
"Zuric, I was able to convince my father to allow me to pick up a personal bodyguard. Won't you take the test?"
The young boy's eyes widened. They have secretly met for many years. It would be good if they didn't have to always meet secretly in hidings all the time.
"This way, we could be together." She said happily.
A smile crept on his face. "Mpm. I will do my best." He chewed on another piece of meat and then added. "There is a place I want to show you."
Surprised, she asked. "Ehh… Where haven't we been?"
"It's a secret."
Excited, she couldn't help but want to know what it is and continued to bug him to tell her.
"Finish eating and I'll take you there."
With that promise, she chewed the meat stick in one mouthful and gasped, "I'm done."
His brows frown followed by a delightful sparkle in his eyes. Since she freed him and took him to the outside world, he was able to roam the world at will and mingle with everyday people. He had his fair share of experience with all kinds of people and even seen the nobles. She, at times, doesn't act like a noble lady. He sighed helplessly and cleaned up after them.
He reached a hand out to her. "Come."
She reached her hand to meet his and followed him. He took her deeper into the cave and when they came upon an intersection, he jumped up to the ceiling, pressed on a spot that seemed to camouflage with the rest. Soon, a door opened on the side. Inside was a long, dark tunnel. This was his turf. He spent his life in this cave and had enough time to explore. He can walk anywhere inside the cave with his eyes closed. With him guiding her, even though the path may be in complete darkness, she would never be lost. She trusted him completely.
As soon as they went inside the tunnel, the door closed and blended in with its surrounding.
After sometimes the two came out of the tunnel and into an open field, with sunlight of its own, night of its own, a world of its own. One side was night time and the other side was daytime.
Awestruck of the breathtaking place, why he now decided to show to her, she asked, "Have you always known this place?"
"Mm." He muttered softly.
"Why you decided to tell me now?"
"Because I wanted to explore other places." It was part truth. He lived here and familiar with this place. He wanted to see different places and spent his time venturing out to mingle with the rest of society. When he was unconscious, he remembered being sealed in the cave unable to get out. He lived days after days hoping to see the outside, and it was not until she came and broke the seal.
Now that he's leaving the only place that was ever known as home to him, he wanted to show her. She was the only other person he ever considered as family, she deserved a peak into his world.
"Liar! You just didn't trust me to see this place." She frowned and turned her back towards him.
"Aw... that's not it." He denied.
"I don't believe you." She refuted.
He reached a hand out to her but stopped in midair and retracted. He was a person of very few words and sucked at explaining and making eloquent speeches.
She wasn't that narrow minded but just wanted to test him and see his reaction. She could never be mad at him. At her worse and most loneliness, he accompanied her. She could never be made at him, no matter the reason. But his personality and facial expressions are as stony at the cave he lives in that sometimes, she purposely gave him a hard time just to get a reaction from him.
After seeing his helpless expression, she let out a big grin and threw herself into his arms. She was the only person ever being physically closed to him. Even in their younger days, she threw herself into him without reservation. Now that they were no longer children anymore, there were such things as the difference between man and woman.
'Does she not see him as a person of the opposite sex? Why was he the only one that gets flustered? Doesn't she see him as a male counterpart? What does she think of him? She made him helpless many times and, in the end, all he could do was let her be. How could someone be so sweetly bothersome?
She peered at him as he remained quiet, but only saw the dazzling warmth radiated from his eyes, even in the darkest night, the gold crystals beaming from his eyes brought her so much warmth and calmness. For a brief moment, she lost herself and wanted a closer and full look of his eyes. Slowly, her hand reached to part his hairs that were covering part of his eyes and spoke out of statement. "Your eyes are very beautiful. Just looking at them brings me so much warmth."
His ears turned red and he became a little flustered. Not only her action shows no reservation, but her words are the same too.
