Topographical Survey of a Labyrinth
Oz, who reportedly destroyed both the Golem and the room into pieces during the Basic Combat Ability test, obviously obtained an Adventurer’s Type-2 License.
In the midst of the commotion at the Guild, Oz nonchalantly received her Adventurer’s card from the receptionist.
Oz showed us her card, with a satisfied smile on her face.
There was a letter “D” written on the top left corner.
“A D-ranked adventurer all of a sudden…”
“Ehehe~ Great? Aren’t I great?”
As I look at the card, Oz jumps up and down as if she wants to be praised.
Because she gets carried away when I do, I never give her praise.
“Oz-san, you’re amazing…”
“Right? You can praise me more~!”
“No, that’s seriously amazing. This means the guild made a special exception, right?”
“The fact that they allowed her to skip two ranks means that it’s a special exception among special exceptions.”
Mize, Gran, and Elysia all praise Oz.
Thanks to that, Oz was in high spirits.
“Well, this feels really good~. The people outside are so kind! I wasn’t praised at all when I was in the Organization, so this makes me kinda happy!”
“Organization?”
“Oops.”
That isn’t just an Oops.
As Elysia tilts her head, Oz hurriedly covers her mouth.
I gave Oz a murderous glare.
She seems to be aware that she was too careless. While dripping with cold sweat, Oz glances away, as if she was trying to avoid the problem.
Because of this kind of thing, Oz was rarely praised at the Organization. If they were to praise Oz, it would be when she wasn’t nearby.
“But thanks to Oz-san getting a D rank, we can now take on a wider range of commissions.”
Mize explains as we head to the bulletin board.
“For example, we can take these slightly more dangerous commissions, since as long as there is a single person with a D rank, the ranks of the other participants aren’t taken into question…Of course, as long as they themselves are willing to take the risk.”
We look at the request Mize is pointing to.
It was the same kind of commission we took last time: a commission to defeat Demonic Beasts. However, the target of the commission was a rather strong Demonic Beast called an Ogre.
“Defeat 3 Ogres. Wouldn’t that be a bit too difficult for us?”
“That’s right…probably, if we go with our current members, the burden will only fall on Oz-san.”
I wonder about that. I think to myself after listening to Mize’s words.
Gran aside, Elysia could probably take out at least one of them. With Oz’s cooperation, the remaining two could easily be taken out. But this is…still too dangerous for Mize.
Even though we have one D-rank adventurer with us, we should take commissions with a level of difficulty that matches our average ability as much as possible. Otherwise, we might be in danger.
“By the way, Oz-san, what kind of commission would you like to accept?”
“Hmm~…If I’m going to take one anyway, I want it to have a lot of money as a reward. Also, I want it to be fun!”
In response to Mize’s question, Oz answers with a bright smile.
A commission that would reward a lot of money and would still be fun.
As we split up to look at the bulletin board– Oz speaks up.
“Ah, oh hey everyone! How about this commission?”
We gathered by Oz’s side and looked the piece of paper with the details of the commission she was pointing at.
Upon seeing it, Mize’s eyes twinkle.
“A commission to explore a Labyrinth…that’s great! Let’s definitely take this!”
While letting out a breath of anticipation, Mize says excitedly.
Come to think of it, when we were deciding which type of Adventurer’s License to get, Mize said that we should take the Type-2 in order to go to the Labyrinths. She must really have longed to go into a Labyrinth.
“Hmm…a topographical survey of a Labyrinth. That’s fine, isn’t it? This way, we can avoid fighting Demonic Beasts as long as we’re on guard.”
“Right? It’s located nearby and the Guild will provide the necessary tools, right? So, I guess we should take it now.”
Elysia and Gran show their agreement.
“How about you, Tweight?”
In response to Oz’s question, I nod my head.
“No problem.”
“Alright! Then, I’ll go to the counter to accept this commission!”
Oz briefly ran over to the counter and handed the piece of paper containing the details of the commission to the receptionist.
After waiting for a bit, Oz returned after a brief run.
“Thanks for waiting! They’re preparing the tools we need for the survey, so they want us to wait for around 10 minutes or so!”
“10 minutes…say Mize, is there anything we could do in the meantime?”
“Well…we could probably purchase a map of the Labyrinth. I think the Guild might be selling some.”
“Ah, come to think of it, I saw some yesterday. I’m fairly certain that they were at that stand over there.”
The three of them: Gran, Mize, and Elysia walk over to the stand.
While I was following them, I called out to Oz.
“You picked a good commission.”
“Mm-hmm~…that should make up for the mistake I made earlier…the interior of the Labyrinth is a complicated structure, so it’ll be easier for Tweight to move around, right?”
“Yeah. And we are familiar with that Labyrinth. So, we should have a home-ground advantage.”
“During the Great War, we were sent there several times to exterminate Demonic Beasts…The Boss of the Last Layer was pretty strong!”
Although she said something like that, Oz’s face looked like she had fun.
She has the personality of a battle maniac. Even when she was still an agent in the Organization, she was actively sent into fierce battlefields.
Having someone with such bountiful combat experience on my side is definitely reassuring.
I relaxed my shoulders a bit, before heading to the stand where Mize and the others were.
