Chapter 8

Entering the ferocious beast area, Xisa saw a completely different scene from before. Unlike the ordinary creatures that were either kept in enclosures or separated by stone walls, the beasts in the ferocious beast area were all extremely dangerous species. They were confined in iron cages made of thick steel bars. The further in, the stricter the confinement became. From ordinary iron cages, they upgraded to iron cages with iron chains binding their limbs, and then to special cages adorned with magical runes.

Seeing these ferocious beasts that only appeared in textbooks, Xisa's spiritual senses seemed to be stimulated, and a sense of extreme danger surged in his heart. Although he was safe behind the cages, his instincts ignored this, telling him through the most genuine feelings how dangerous these creatures were and how fragile his life was. The desire for power reappeared in his heart.

If the beasts at the outermost layer were already so dangerous, what would the middle and core areas be like? Xisa thought with dissatisfaction.

Dorothy was in a similar state. Since entering the ferocious beast area, the girl's body hair had involuntarily stood on end, her small fangs bared, her blood-red eyes narrowed to the smallest, and she occasionally threw a few coins to attack the ferocious beasts that threatened her, warning them that she was not an easy prey.

Unlike the stimulated siblings, the ordinary tourists without any talents were unaffected. They pointed and commented without any reservations, occasionally provoking the sleeping ferocious beasts in the cages, laughing and playing.

"Feeling better?" After standing at the outermost layer and calming down for a long time, Xisa, who had gradually returned to normal, looked at his sister.

"Much better! I never felt this way before. It's as if I could be killed at any moment, which is really unpleasant. Is this a sign of my talent about to awaken?" Dorothy, with her eyes back to normal, lifted her head and stared at Xisa with her blood-red eyes.

Xisa patted her head and said, "Probably. I don't feel very comfortable either. But this is the real world! I think this is the true purpose of Dad bringing us here, hoping we can recognize ourselves."

"Hmph, what's the point of recognizing ourselves? We still have to go to school like ordinary people, right? My cousins of the same age are all studying bloodline magic in the family academy, learning special bloodline techniques. Even the ordinary students in my class have several who are learning martial arts at the dojo. Dad and Mom never teach me these things!" Dorothy said resentfully.

"Be content. I'm already thirteen and I don't know anything either." Xisa patted his sister's shoulder and comforted her, "Cheer up. We're here to have fun today, don't let these things ruin our mood. Although they are powerful, they are locked in cages, and we can bully them at will. Come on, let's buy some animals and play with them. How fierce can these beasts be?"

"Big brother is the best!" The little girl sweetly called out, then ran to a goblin selling animals and bought a small cage of mice. Next, the two siblings continuously threw live animals like mice, rabbits, and mountain chickens into the cages, teasing these ferocious beasts.

In the following hour, they moved from the outermost layer to the inner areas. From ordinary beasts to apex predators in nature, and then to supernatural creatures trapped by enchanted chains, they finally reached the core area where dragons and demons were confined.

The core area was spacious, looking like a huge eggshell from the outside, completely sealed. According to the introduction sign, there were very few creatures for public viewing, including the dragon that had caused a sensation in the city, making a total of four.

Xisa's luck was very good, and there were few tourists at that time. After the previous group left, Xisa and his sister, along with two other families of three, a total of eight people, entered under the accompaniment of two heavily armored men in steam-powered mechs and a professional keeper.

"Roar!"

As soon as they entered, they were greeted by a heart-shaking roar. The foul breath swept over like a storm, and bits of fish scales and debris sprayed all over the armored man.

"Ugh... Ugh..." The little boy next to Xisa, who looked even bigger than Dorothy, suddenly burst into tears.

"Such a bad breath!" Dorothy waved her hand in front of her nose, looking at the dragon with displeasure.

In front of the small viewing area, there was a huge cage made of thick enchanted steel bars. Inside, it was spacious, with artificial mountains, a small lake, a forest, a flock of sheep, and even a miniature volcano with boiling lava. Compared to this five-star treated dragon, Xisa and the others felt more like the animals on display.

"Roar!" The young dragon, about the size of two buses, tilted its head and roared, seemingly greeting them in a friendly manner, but the smell of dead fish and shrimp made Xisa and the others keep their distance.

"Dragon?" Dorothy raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Dragon!" The guide nodded in response.

"Wow!" The parents of the other two families expressed their admiration, but there was also a misbehaving child who collapsed on the ground and wailed.

"So bad! It's like a dog, with no presence at all." Dorothy said disappointedly.

"Indeed, it has been tamed." Xisa, looking at the dragon, also felt disappointed.

The huge body, hard scales, fierce fangs, thick and sharp claws, golden vertical pupils, and the occasional sparks from its nostrils, along with the terrifying aura like a hell of molten lava, all proved that this was a pure 'Isaia Lava Dragon.' However, the threatening aura it emitted was even less than that of an old saber-toothed tiger they had seen earlier.

This was a young dragon artificially tamed, with no trace of wildness. From hatching to now, it had never killed anything. Each meal was delivered by the keeper, a carefully prepared luxurious meal that was both tasty and nutritious. Compared to the ferocious beasts captured from the wild, this dragon was more like a domesticated dog wagging its tail. The ball in its mouth was just a decorative item to prevent accidental dragon breath and enhance its ferocity.

"Well, disappointed! It didn't even make me shiver. Is this really a dragon? It's not even as impressive as the other three auras." Dorothy pulled on Xisa's sleeve and whispered.

"Of course it's a dragon. Although it's not threatening, it is indeed the strongest species on the continent. I can feel the immense power within it. If used to make a bloodline potion, it could certainly catalyze the most powerful ability." Xisa said.

"I bet those goblins have already done that. Big brother, want to give it a little stimulation?" Dorothy smiled mischievously.

"What are you going to do? Throwing coins is enough, don't go too far." Xisa asked cautiously.

"Not too far, not too far, just a blood bag. With such strict measures, it can't escape. Do you think a bag of blood can arouse its ferocity?" Dorothy asked.

"Not sure..."

Although he knew it was wrong, Xisa couldn't help but imagine it... He decided to indulge his sister this time. If the goblins found out, he would say he failed to watch the misbehaving child and pay some money. Thinking this, Xisa subtly scratched his sister's palm and walked to the other side, leaving the little girl alone by the iron pillar, watching the dragon in the cage.

'Splat!'

The blood bag burst, and the pungent blood splattered, wetting the young dragon's nose. Shocked by this sudden stimulation, the young dragon screamed wildly, the piercing sound making the iron cage hum. Then, it flapped its wings and flew up, circling in the air before landing in the miniature volcano, burying itself in the lava, and shivering.

Worthless, it was scared! What a waste! Xisa cursed inwardly.

The two families beside him, like the dragon, crouched on the ground, trembling like chickens with the flu. The brown-haired man even wet his pants. The two boys from the two families wailed in turns, their shrill cries even drowning out the young dragon hiding in the volcano. The piercing sounds scared the young dragon into completely hiding in the lava, refusing to interact with the tourists anymore...

"Miss!..." The keeper, with a face like he had lost his father, came to Dorothy...

In the end, Xisa paid a fine of 500 gold coins to settle the incident. Under the strict supervision of the two armored men, he and his sister went to the next area, the demon zone.

Compared to the five-star dragon, these three demons were much more modest, barely reaching three-star treatment. In the relatively small activity area, the three demons either darted around at high speed or lazily lay on the rocks basking in the sun.

"Demons, as the name suggests, are creatures that have been corrupted by magic. They can be animals, humans, or even plants. Under the influence of magical energy, they gain great power, but as a trade-off, they lose their consciousness and are dominated by a bloodthirsty instinct, living a life of constant slaughter, like devils in hell." Under the guide's explanation, Xisa saw three demons of different forms.

A giant mantis with its body locked by magical runes, blood-red compound eyes, sharp mouthparts, and six limbs like alloy, just looking at it made one's hair stand on end. At the first sight of the mantis, Xisa and Dorothy involuntarily trembled.

Through the gaps in the iron cage, Xisa clearly sensed the killing intent emitted by the mantis, firmly locked onto him. Additionally, there were two more auras covering him. One came from a two-headed giant dog with its body covered in locking magical runes, and the other from a severely deformed goblin.

There were eleven people in total, but Xisa was certain that the killing intent was only aimed at him. The two battle-hardened armored men behind him remained calm, not pretending, but genuinely not sensing any threat.

"These guys must be very dangerous, right?" Cold sweat dripped from Xisa's forehead as he struggled to speak.

"Of course, these monsters are demons, the most dangerous creatures on the continent. Both the Church and the Association list them as the top targets for hunting. They are destroyed immediately upon discovery without any investigation." The armored man monitoring Xisa said.

"Hehe, have they ever attacked tourists?" The killing intent grew stronger, and Xisa had quietly retreated behind the armored man.

"No! These demons are of a lower level and are not dangerous. Moreover, their skin is engraved with the latest magical runes, which are much more advanced than the enchanted cages outside. The entire zoo has only four sets. Engraving these magical runes not only perfectly restrains them but also allows us to see their hunting actions." The guide explained.

"Is that so? I learned something new." Xisa replied with difficulty.

"Big brother, are you okay?" Dorothy ran to Xisa's side, concerned.

"Fine, just a bit tired." Xisa said dismissively.

"Scared? That's normal, you're still a child." The guide smiled kindly and pointed to the two other children who were almost scared to death, "These demons have been confined for nearly ten years, and their ferocity has long been worn down. They are not dangerous."

"Oh, I see..." Xisa nodded in response. In his heart, he raised the danger level of the demons. Confined for ten years and still able to hide their killing intent, these guys were not only ferocious but also cunning.

"Let's go, it's boring. Let's get out of here!" Seeing the cold sweat on her brother's forehead and the greedy, bloodthirsty eyes of the three demons in the cage, Dorothy loudly urged.

"Yeah, let's go. After seeing the dragon, there's no point in seeing the rest." The other two families also agreed.

Thus, the ten-minute visit was compressed to five minutes, and another group of tourists full of anticipation came in. Unfortunately, the dragon remained hidden in the lava, refusing to come out.
