Dorothy's First Love

After leaving the Monster Zone, Cesar sat on a stone bench by the roadside to rest for a while. Finally, he managed to shake off the oppressive feeling brought by the monsters and gradually recovered.

"Bro, it's not that bad, right? Although those monsters were terrifying, it's not like they would do anything to you," Dorothy said considerately, taking out a tissue to wipe the sweat from Cesar's forehead.

"They... wanted to kill me! I could feel their eagerness. If it weren't for the cage and the magic patterns, they would have pounced and torn me apart. Unlike the monsters we encountered before, they seemed to recognize me and could distinguish me," Cesar swallowed, standing up with lingering fear. "I don't understand what's happening, but this is definitely not normal! It might be due to my impending talent awakening or my bloodline. In any case, this feeling is very bad. It's like someone putting a knife to your throat, and you can't resist."

"Are you feeling better now?" Dorothy asked with concern.

"I don't feel it once we're out of the gate." Cesar opened his backpack, took out a bottle of water, and drank more than half of it in a few gulps, finally calming down. Then, he turned to Dorothy, "The Monster Zone isn't a place for a leisurely stroll, and you must be tired too. There's no one around here, so have another blood pack, and I'll keep watch for you."

"Okay!" The little girl took out a blood pack, bit a hole in it, and started drinking. After finishing the blood pack, a flush appeared under her healthy skin, making her look as if she had just finished exercising.

"Brother, shall we go home?" Looking at Cesar's pale face, Dorothy asked softly, her voice filled with reluctance.

"No need. Let's go to the paid area to relax a bit. I heard there are dancing grass and flowers that can play music there." Rubbing his face, Cesar gathered his spirits and recovered.

"Great, there's a path to the paid area over here." Dorothy jumped off the stone bench and ran towards the fully enclosed special exhibit hall, following the signposts.

After paying 100 yuan, the siblings entered the relatively quiet paid area. Compared to the vast ordinary and Monster Zones, the paid area was not large. It housed many rare and exotic creatures, mostly small insects or reptiles. Most visitors who had toured the first two zones were already quite satisfied and had no energy to waste money on the expensive and bizarre creatures here, so the siblings enjoyed the rare tranquility.

"Wow! A Crystal Spider!" As soon as they entered the exhibit hall, Dorothy stuck to a glass-like resin barrier, gazing at the peculiar insect inside.

It was a pale blue spider as transparent as crystal, and its internal organs could be seen moving from the outside. Below it was a beautiful crystal web, like a piece of art, with two crystallized insects stuck to it.

Although there was no tour guide, the characteristics of the Crystal Spider were recorded next to the resin barrier. It was a highly venomous and crystallizing insect, an important research material for the Flag Corporation. There were originally ten, but now only half remained...

Next, Cesar accompanied his sister in viewing various small creatures, most of which had special abilities. Whether friendly or not, they all gave Cesar a sense of fatal threat. Unlike the bone-chilling killing intent emitted by the monsters, this threat was the instinctive caution of living beings towards the unknown. If Dorothy didn't keep banging on the resin barriers, the hostility would have been less intense.

"Bro, look! This is the mantis from the Monster Zone! The Saw-toothed Iron-backed Mantis." Reading the description next to the resin barrier, Dorothy finally understood the name of the creature and said in amazement, "Tsk tsk, a mantis the size of a fist, when enchanted, can grow as large as a lion or tiger. This is just a common monster. What about those enchanted field mice we encountered in the suburbs?"

"Trash, not even worth mentioning. This is Ark City, one of the largest first-tier cities in the empire! Do you think how powerful the monsters around Ark would be? If they were all like those monsters, the empire would have fallen long ago." Cesar patted his sister's shoulder, signaling her to stop banging on the barrier.

"Ah, I thought I had reached the level to hunt monsters on my own." The little girl said disappointedly, continuing to bang on the barrier.

"Hey, it says the mantis doesn't like vibrations, stop it."

"No, I want to see how powerful it is. How different can it be from the mantis in the Monster Zone?"

As Dorothy spoke, the mantis inside the barrier moved. It had been standing still like a statue, but now its six legs sprang into action, pouncing in front of Dorothy and slashing with its blade-like arms through the barrier.

With a loud 'Bang!', green ripples appeared on the resin barrier, spreading out from the point where the mantis struck.

"Whoa!" Dorothy, who was talking to her brother, was startled and stepped back.

"Wow, that's powerful, and it's green." Cesar exclaimed.

Before entering, Cesar had seen the introduction to the barriers at the entrance. These resin barriers, a fusion of magic and alchemy, had extremely strong defensive capabilities. They had different levels of impact resistance, with the lowest level leaving a light blue ripple on the barrier, followed by cyan, green, yellow, orange, and red. For comparison, blue was equivalent to a full-force hammer strike, while green had the power of a regular firearm.

"Amazing, this thing must be incredibly powerful when enchanted!" Dorothy marveled.

"Indeed." Cesar touched his neck, breaking out in a cold sweat. In the Monster Zone, that enchanted mantis had been targeting his neck. If it hadn't been caged, he would have been dead. This world is really dangerous; a single mantis could end his life...

"Let's go see the others. The dancing grass and singing flowers are over there." Dorothy dragged Cesar deeper into the exhibit.

Soon, they found the dancing grass. Next to the barrier was a jukebox. By inserting a one-yuan coin, one could select a song and watch the dancing grass sway. After that, there were singing flowers. By inserting a one-yuan coin and sprinkling a bit of sugar water, one could stimulate the flowers to sing.

Next to the singing grass, Cesar discovered a nest of little fairies. They had exquisite faces, flawless figures, and dreamy wings, some with butterfly wings and others with transparent dragonfly wings. These little fairies were only the size of a palm, incredibly cute, especially the one with blood-red hair. If it were enlarged by ten times, it could almost rival his sister in beauty.

"Dorothy, come here, look at that little one. Doesn't it look like you? Could she be Nicole's long-lost daughter?" Cesar pointed to the little fairy with blood-red hair.

"Hey, really! But I'm a bit prettier." Dorothy giggled, enjoying her brother's praise.

Sensing Dorothy's kindness, the little fairy, who had been fighting with her companions for a petal, flew to the two of them and looked at them pitifully, pointing to the coin slot below the barrier, which read "Ten Yuan to Feed."

"She's hungry... Bro, give me a ten-yuan coin." Dorothy pleaded.

"Here you go."

Inserting the coin, Dorothy pressed the "Feed" button, and a white baby mouse dropped from above. The fairies screamed and swarmed, surrounding the baby mouse and cruelly tearing it apart. In a moment, the baby mouse was torn to pieces, its blood spilling everywhere.

"Uh..." Cesar, caught off guard, opened his mouth in shock... Dorothy, standing beside him, also stared with wide eyes, unable to believe what was happening.

The cute fairy that resembled Dorothy was happily eating the baby mouse's heart. Seeing the siblings watching her, she let go of her food and gave Dorothy a sweet, seductive smile, trying to show her affection.

"Uh... Don't fairies eat flower nectar?" Cesar asked dumbly, looking at the blood-stained fairies inside the barrier.

"You didn't read the description. These are carnivorous Black Fairies!" Dorothy pointed to the description nearby.

Black Fairies: Carnivorous, intermediate intelligence, asexual reproduction, highly dangerous. Possess extraordinary strength and speed, can emit a bewitching sound, and are abnormally attracted to beautiful young girls. When they receive true love, they lay eggs inside the girl's body, using the lover's flesh and blood to nurture their offspring. The main culprits behind the tragic deaths of many innocent fairy girls in the depths of the forest...

After reading the description, Cesar was speechless. The blood-haired fairy had clearly fallen in love with the cute Dorothy and was trying hard to express her affection, hoping Dorothy would accept her. Meanwhile, Dorothy, the mischievous child, was baring her teeth and responding to the little fairy, her eyes glowing with a blood-red light, stimulating the fairy to keep bumping into the barrier. The scene of life and death was truly heart-wrenching!

"Alright, stop flirting with her! Black Fairies only love once in their lives. Although they are evil creatures, you shouldn't toy with their feelings!" Cesar pulled his sister away and walked to the other side.

"Goodbye, my first love, my beloved! I'll miss you!" Dorothy, being dragged by Cesar, waved tearfully at the little fairy. The fairy, in turn, pounded on the barrier frantically, even letting go of the heart, causing green ripples to spread across the barrier.

Hold on! You tricked Dorothy for that heart, didn't you? How can you fall in love so easily? You're still young; don't have children so casually! Cesar, seeing this, shook his head wildly. My sister can't be so good at falling in love! This must be an illusion!

"Brother, I beg you, let me go! I and that little fairy are truly in love, please let us be together!" Dorothy cried.

"You don't even know her name!" Cesar shouted.

"Her name is Dorothy-si!" Dorothy made up a name on the spot.
