Chapter 1

On the desolate land, a black tide surged, composed of variously shaped corpses.
At the forefront, a tall and mighty humanoid creature, clad in imposing black armor, rode a similarly large nightmare, trotting forward. Each step of its four hooves stirred up a ring of roaring flames.
Behind this humanoid creature, a group of elite forces made up of golden skeletons, iron-clad zombies, high-level liches, and black knights closely followed, guarding him.
Following this elite force was a tide of various corpses, advancing relentlessly, leaving the land devoid of its original color wherever they passed.
On the distant horizon, a black line undulated, spreading from the edge of the earth.
From a high vantage point, it resembled a black tide.
Just as the opposing tide of corpses emerged from the horizon, the leading humanoid creature raised his right hand, and the speed of the nightmare beneath him gradually slowed. The undead creatures running behind him simultaneously decelerated, finally coming to a complete stop.
Millions of undead creatures formed a formation that almost covered half of the desolate land, waiting for the enemy to approach.
The opposing tide of corpses surged, and a massive voice, like rolling thunder, came from the horizon: "Luo Jie, why start this war?! This world is large enough for us to coexist; the war has no meaning."
Luo Jie tilted his head and looked at the black smoke at the forefront of the opposing tide, which was a lich, powerful enough to be his rival.
"The war is the meaning of my existence," Luo Jie replied calmly, his voice not loud but clear across the entire battlefield.
The two tides of corpses surged towards each other, colliding in a brutal war.
Like all undead wars, neither side would stop attacking until their leader was destroyed. In the end, Luo Jie, standing atop a mountain of corpses, split the lich's form in two with his giant axe, releasing a massive force that annihilated the lich's form and soul into nothingness.
As if a pause button had been pressed, all the undead creatures with deep soul connections to the lich leader immediately stopped their actions, even those in the midst of attacks. Their weapons flew out of their hands, and those leaping in the air lost control, falling to the ground.
Blue flames erupted from the bodies of these undead creatures, like fireworks, instantly dyeing the entire battlefield with a blue glow.
As these blue glows faded, the undead creatures under the lich leader's command fell and disintegrated one after another, the entire army disintegrating and ceasing to exist.
Luo Jie, standing atop the mountain of corpses, let out a long howl that echoed like a thunderclap across the heavens.
At this moment, some strange fluctuations rippled from the depths of the sky, scanning the battlefield. Luo Jie, as the focal point, was the most concentrated target of these fluctuations.
Luo Jie looked up at the pitch-black sky, where an enormous black warship had appeared, its surface gleaming with a metallic luster under the starlight.
A goblin airship? The name of a legendary vessel flashed through Luo Jie's mind.
...
In the bridge of the Far Horizon spacecraft, the observer's terrified scream echoed, as if he had seen a ghost: "R... Report to the captain, t... there are so many corpses, so many moving corpses!"
Although the observer's scream was unprofessional, no one had the leisure to reprimand him. The main screen showed a mountain of corpses, a tide of corpses covering the entire land, and a humanoid creature standing atop the mountain, radiating intense mental waves, leaving everyone in the bridge speechless.
Are these really corpses?
Captain Zhang Yuanshan took a deep breath. As the captain, everyone else could panic, but he could not. They were just moving corpses, not flying corpses; there was nothing to fear. Zhang Yuanshan reassured himself and ordered calmly: "Activate all detectors and collect data on these things."
Zhang Yuanshan's calm tone did indeed have a soothing effect. Although everyone was still shaken, they followed the order and activated all the detectors.
"Life detection system activated."
"Geological remote sensing system activated."
"Atmospheric composition analysis started."
"..."
A series of reports gradually calmed the panicked people. From initial chaos to orderly operation, a series of results began to return.
"The planet's mass is 1.5 units, with geological structure and composition similar to Earth's."
"The atmosphere consists of 40% carbon dioxide, 36% nitrogen, and 0.6% oxygen. The atmosphere is filled with massive radiation; this place must have experienced a nuclear war."
"The life detector shows no response; those moving things are indeed not biological. All moving objects show energy fluctuations, and the object standing on the mountain of corpses has very strong energy fluctuations."
"Optical scans show it is a corpse, with a 60% similarity to a human body. God, what is this thing, a zombie?"
Hearing this, Zhang Yuanshan's heart stirred. Human fear comes from the unknown; if it is something familiar, the fear diminishes. Thinking this, Zhang Yuanshan decided to call them zombies for now, regardless of what they were.
"This name fits well. From now on, we will temporarily name these objects zombies. Observe their habits, behavior patterns, and abilities." Zhang Yuanshan's voice echoed throughout the bridge.
As soon as he finished speaking, a voice from the corner, trying to sound calm, said: "Hey, zombies, I love fighting zombies in Resident Evil."
Although the joke was not funny, most people laughed, indeed, thinking of them as zombies reduced the psychological pressure.
"Do you think these zombies could be like those in Resident Evil, created by a virus?"
"Very likely. With such high radiation levels on this planet, a nuclear war must have occurred. Using biological weapons wouldn't be strange."
"Alright, alright." Zhang Yuanshan timely interrupted the pointless speculation, saying: "Continue working. Whether these are biological zombies or magical zombies, they can't fly. Keep detecting; there's nothing to fear. Are you afraid they'll fly to the ship?"
As soon as he said this, Zhang Yuanshan wished he could slap himself. The zombie leader in the center of the main screen actually flew up, approaching the exploration ship at a very fast speed. The observer screamed in terror: "It's flying, the zombie is flying."
The hard-earned calm was once again lost. Zhang Yuanshan inwardly cursed, thinking: I must fire this overly dramatic observer once we are safe.
"Prepare the electromagnetic cannon, shoot down the zombie." Zhang Yuanshan's roar echoed through the bridge.
Everyone was in a panic, but their long-term strict training allowed them to perform their duties competently even under fire. Soon, all the turrets facing the ground, with firing angles, turned and aimed at the zombie, ready to fire.
