Chapter 2: Account Creation (Part 1)

As I put on the helmet, my vision went dark, and I found myself in a pale blue room. A very mechanical voice sounded. "Iris lock engaged, attempting brainwave connection." It paused for two seconds. "Connection normal, body scan normal, identity lock engaged, setup complete, welcome to the system. The main AI will now guide you!" After another two-second pause, a female voice, though not very magnetic, sounded in my ear, and it was quite pleasant.

"Hello! Welcome to the world of 'Zero.' You are using a reward account. Please start by spinning the wheel to receive your reward."

Suddenly, a huge wheel appeared in the room. I looked at it with confusion and asked, "What do you mean by the reward project?"

"Each reward account receives a random number of rewards. After you spin the wheel, the number of rewards you receive will be determined by the result. The maximum number is four, and the minimum is zero."

"What? Zero? That means it would just be a regular account without any rewards?" How could this damn system be so cruel! I went through so much trouble to get a reward account, and if it ends up with no rewards, I'd be devastated!

"Please start spinning the wheel," the system urged.

Reluctantly, since there were only five numbers, the probability of landing on zero was only 20%. I walked over and forcefully spun the wheel, which immediately started spinning rapidly. As it slowed down, my heart was in my throat. The needle was now at three, and the wheel was still slowly turning but seemed to be about to stop! I silently prayed it wouldn't stop at zero. The needle kept moving and was now at one. I prayed it would stop at one, even if it was just one!

The needle had reached zero, and the wheel was still slowly moving, but it seemed to be stuck in the zero area. I closed my eyes in disappointment. "Ding!" A clear sound rang out, followed by a system prompt. "Congratulations! You have spun the maximum reward of four!"

"What!" I opened my eyes in disbelief, seeing the needle seemingly balanced between zero and four. But since the system's accuracy is higher than the human eye, it must be correct.

The system confirmed again, "You have indeed spun a four. Please choose your character. This account can create two characters. Do you want to distribute the rewards between the two characters or concentrate them on one?"

Are you kidding me! Do I even need to think about it? "One!" In online games, you only need one main character. Using the rewards on two characters would be a waste!

"Please create your first character. The rewards will be applied to this character."

"Okay, but how do I create one?"

"Please first provide the character's name. This name will be the character's permanent name and cannot be changed unless you delete the character and create a new one. Please use Chinese names as much as possible."

"Ziri!" This cool name has always been my favorite, and I use it in all my games.

"Character Ziri has been created. Now, the reward calculation will begin." The system paused for two seconds. "Your first reward has been determined. Your first reward is the ability to choose a hidden race. Please select a race for your character."

"Race? What races are available?"

A white light flashed, and two rows of people immediately appeared. The first row stood on the ground, while the second row floated in the air. Upon closer inspection, these figures seemed somewhat familiar. Wait! Aren't these me? Why do they all look like me!

The system seemed to understand my confusion. "These are the racial models based on your appearance. You need to choose a race first and then make no more than a 10% modification to your appearance. The bottom row includes races that anyone can choose, while the top row includes races that only accounts with the hidden race reward can create. The ordinary races include 12 types: Orcs, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Fire Elementals, Water Elementals, Earth Elementals, Undead, Air Elementals, Fairies, and Monsters. The special races include 7 types: Angels, Demons, Half-Elves, Mental Elementals, Half-Orcs, Half-Angels, and Celestial Demons."

Since the top row is a hidden reward, it must be more powerful. "Can you introduce the features of the top row of races?"

The system immediately removed the bottom row, and the top row of races automatically flew to my front. "You can see their appearance directly. I will mainly introduce their attributes. First is the Angel. This race has higher attack and defense power and more HP than other races with the same attribute points. They also have the innate ability to use the 'Holy' self-healing magic. Second is the Demon. They have high defense and magic attack power and can recover HP quickly. Third is the Half-Elf. This race has the high agility and night vision of Elves but more HP, usually reaching the level of Humans. Fourth is the Mental Elemental. This race is naturally a mage, and all their spells have a 5% attack bonus, and their SP recovery speed is very fast. Fifth is the Half-Orc. This race has the high attack and defense power of Orcs but retains the agility and intelligence of Humans, allowing them to become mages, which is impossible for Orcs. Sixth is the Half-Angel. This race has attack and defense power close to that of Angels but slightly lower. However, they can learn attack magic, which Angels cannot, and they have better resistance to dark magic. The last is the Celestial Demon, a unique race. Celestial Demons are hybrids of Angels and Demons, with high physical and magical attack power. Unlike Angels, they do not absorb 50% of light magic damage, and unlike Demons, they do not absorb 50% of dark magic damage. However, they also do not have zero defense against dark magic like Angels or zero defense against light magic like Demons. In short, they are a balanced race, and the system limits the number of Celestial Demons. Only the first ten accounts to choose this race will have the opportunity, and in future reward races, only six races will appear."

Ha! Now I understand. But it's still hard to choose; each one has its strengths! "Can you remove the races I don't want?"

"Are you using the elimination method? Of course, I can!"

Damn! What kind of system is this! The AI is so advanced! Never mind, let's just go with it. "I definitely won't choose the Mental Elemental; they're too ugly!" The Mental Elemental immediately turned into a cluster of stars and disappeared, leaving six characters. "Half-Orcs are too barbaric, no thanks." Another flash, and there were five races left. "Half-Angels and Half-Elves don't have significant advantages, so I'll eliminate them!" Now there were only three left! How should I decide! "My character is called Ziri, and the name Angel doesn't seem to fit. I'll remove it!" Now there were only two left! The Demon race is clearly for mages, but I prefer knights. "I've decided. My race will be Celestial Demon!"

The system immediately responded, "Race selection successful: Celestial Demon. Congratulations, you are the first to choose the Celestial Demon race. The system rewards you with one basic attribute point. Now, please start setting your character's appearance."

The only remaining image in front of me was the Celestial Demon. I examined it carefully. The height was unchanged, the same as in reality, 172 cm, indicating that the Celestial Demon race does not affect height. The limbs were well-proportioned, the face slightly demonic, and the only difference from my real appearance was the pair of black wings on the back. "Can I remove this pair of wings?"

"I'm sorry! Wings are a characteristic of the Celestial Demon race, just as you can't ask a Dwarf player to be over 1.6 meters tall. However, you can rest assured that the wings can be retracted, and no one will see them if you don't release them."

"That's good! I want to make the facial lines more straight, with fewer curves. Make the nose more angular, and the eyes sharper!" I watched my character change in front of me and was quite satisfied with the modifications.

"Your modification limit has reached the maximum. Please confirm whether you want to use this appearance."

I looked at it. Even though I tried to make it uglier and more masculine, it still looked like a female! Oh well! I'll just have to make do with it. "Confirm the use of this appearance!"

"Confirmation successful! Character creation complete!"
