Chapter 26

The two men exchanged a glance, both surprised to find someone else on this floor at this time.
However, compared to the man who was clearly from the CT camp, Ye Yun reacted faster. After just a second of eye contact, Ye Yun's left hand, holding a tactical combat knife, immediately slashed toward the other man's throat!
The knife was swift and ruthless, and in the blink of an eye, it was already at the other man's neck. However, to Ye Yun's surprise, the man's reaction was just as quick. Despite Ye Yun's physical strength being twice that of an average person, the man managed to block Ye Yun's wrist with his right hand, twisting and pushing it, slamming Ye Yun's hand against the door frame, causing the combat knife to fly out!
At the same time, the man did not reach for the AUG assault rifle hanging from his chest but quickly drew a pistol from his leg holster with his left hand.
Ye Yun's mind turned cold, and without even a moment to think, he stepped forward and delivered a headbutt to the enemy's nose.
The man's nose was already high and prominent, and the headbutt instantly shattered it, causing a mix of tears, snot, and blood to stream down his face. However, the man's reaction was truly swift. Despite not having time to defend himself, he still managed to kick out a knee strike, even as he took the headbutt!
In the desperate struggle, the man was thrown back, dazed, while Ye Yun's stomach was hit by the knee strike, causing him immense pain. The man's knee was as hard as a rock, and the force of the impact was no less than a heavyweight boxer's heaviest hook.
Ye Yun, unable to suppress his nausea, decided to turn it into a vomit. The contents of his stomach, which had just been digested, were vomited all over the man's face. The man, with his broken nose and still dazed, felt the warmth and heat on his face and instinctively tried to roll away to avoid the attack.
Would Ye Yun give him that chance? After spitting out the vomit, he kicked out with a leg technique from the Tongbei Quan, the "White Snake Spits" kick. This kick, though seemingly ordinary, was sudden and contained four different kicking techniques: sweeping, colliding, breaking, and springing, making it a fierce low-level intercepting kick.
The lightning-fast kick hit the man, sending him flying backward. Ye Yun followed up, stepping forward and, instead of the usual palm strike, fired his SPP pistol in burst mode. Dozens of bullets were instantly sprayed onto the man, who had been kicked into the bathroom and shattered the door. Apart from half being blocked by the bulletproof vest and a quarter missing, the remaining bullets hit their mark, turning the man's head into a smashed watermelon, with red and white brain matter spilling all over the floor.
After killing the man, Ye Yun quickly surveyed the room, still cautious even though he saw no one else. He hurriedly looked around the corridor, only relaxing when he was sure no other hidden enemies had been alerted.
Fortunately, the Steyr SPP pistol, being a modified TMP submachine gun, had light bullets, a fast rate of fire, and most importantly, a low noise level. Otherwise, Ye Yun would have been in a state of constant fear.
Even so, seeing the man's head completely shattered and falling into the toilet, Ye Yun couldn't help but give a middle finger.
This man was not a "gamer," but his quick reaction to Ye Yun's sudden knife attack and the force of his knee strike when hit by the headbutt were absolutely stronger than anyone Ye Yun had ever seen before. At least, the Ye Yun before his enhancement would not have been a match for him.
The man hiding here clearly wasn't just passing time in this war-torn place. He was likely hiding out of fear of the dangerous situation. Even if he survived the battle, he would be arrested or killed. Yet, this clearly skilled man chose to accept and hide, indicating the intensity of the battle.
After a few deep breaths, Ye Yun quickly got up and rushed toward the elevator. However, just a few steps in, the building suddenly shook violently!
The intensity of the shake was so great that it felt like the entire building had jumped. Despite Ye Yun's steady footing, he was almost thrown into the ceiling.
Before he could hit the ceiling, it shattered, and two bodies, mixed with black ash and thick smoke, fell a few meters in front of Ye Yun. Immediately, intense flames also burst through the hole above!
Ye Yun steadied himself against the wall, shielding his eyes from the rolling smoke, and watched the two men who had fallen, both covered in wounds and blood, still fiercely headbutting and biting each other, their heads colliding with a resounding thud that echoed through the corridor.
They are gamers!
As Ye Yun crouched to observe the two men, he noticed that one of them was wearing a gray knuckle duster, and the other had a golden-red spike on his middle finger. However, both men's hands were locked, preventing them from using their weapons.
Though their struggle did not showcase their skills, the repeated headbutts and the sight of blood and exposed skull bones made Ye Yun feel a deep sense of fear.
"Hey, kid, where are you from? Quick, shoot him!" the man with the gray knuckle duster shouted at Ye Yun, then immediately headbutted the other man again.
"Are you Wei Rong's man? What are you waiting for? Kill him!" the CT man also noticed Ye Yun, seeing his waiter's uniform, and immediately shouted.
Ye Yun, of course, couldn't just stand by and watch. The military arsenal dropped by the vulture was still in his storage space, and he couldn't help but be tempted by it.
However, just as he was about to draw his gun from the storage space, he paused.
He thought about something important: was the faction route more important than killing for treasure?
Undoubtedly, the CT subordinate he had killed earlier did not affect his route, as the system would not show a bias in a situation where it was either him or the other man.
But these two men had a clear faction bias. If Ye Yun killed them, whether for their possessions or any other reason, the system would judge his actions as "killing for treasure." The act of killing, even if not for the treasure, would show a certain level of proactivity and utilitarianism, causing the system to shift his evaluation toward "chaotic evil."
Killing them would certainly earn him a large number of game points, and becoming chaotic evil would also bring more points in the future. However, if he chose the lawful evil faction, he would receive 30% less reward for each mission.
One path led to wealth, the other to poverty. How should he choose?
Ye Yun suddenly remembered his favorite TV series, "Soldier's Outpost," and a line spoken by Wu Liuyi that echoed in his mind.
"Why don't we eat the buns right in front of us? Why are we doing this now?"
In the selection process for the Special Forces, Wu Liuyi and Xu San duo infiltrated Class 5 but adhered to the rules, not even eating the buns left there. Wasn't he now in a similar situation?
Ye Yun clenched his fists and told himself, "I am not a bad person, and I don't want to be one. I might have to abandon many things to survive, but that's just to live! I can abandon my virtues, but I cannot harm more innocent people for survival... This is the only belief I can hold onto, and the reason I joined this event. I... will not give up!"
With this in mind, he ignored the two struggling gamers, crouched down, and rushed toward the emergency exit next to the elevator.
However...
Boom!
An explosion sounded from the other side of the wall, and the shattered wall, scorching flames, and intense shockwave combined to blow Ye Yun away, crashing him into the opposite wall, which he then shattered.
Ye Yun, dazed and disoriented, lay in a pile of rubble, the ringing in his ears like the sound of seventy or eighty people beating gongs, causing him to feel intense nausea.
But he forced himself to get up, wiping the blood from his eyes, and enduring the pain as if his bones had been shattered, he climbed out of the rubble.
Staggering to his feet, he looked out to see that the expensive carpet in the corridor had turned into a burning field. The two men who had been struggling there were nowhere to be seen, having been blown away by the explosion.
Ye Yun spat out a mixture of blood and mud, and, supporting himself on the wall, entered the emergency exit.
In the stairwell, the large number 24 was clearly visible.
"Sure enough, below the 35th floor..."
The lower the floor, the fewer enemies he would likely encounter. Ye Yun took a deep breath and started to go down.
However, just as he reached the corner, his pupils dilated!
In the downward corridor, dozens of dead bodies were scattered across several floors!
Among them were a few men in military and police uniforms and black combat gear, but more were ordinary people in suits and evening gowns!
There were even a few children, no older than ten!
This was a massacre!
