Chapter 27

Ye Yun almost bit his lower lip until it bled.

The deaths of so many innocent people were indeed directly related to the mad invasion of the bandits, but could the people of the CT faction be without blame?

Don't forget, this was all a setup orchestrated by CT!

They were supposed to represent the elite of counter-terrorism, yet they treated so many people as mere weeds to cover their trap, showing no mercy. Was this their idea of justice?

With a blank expression, Ye Yun walked step by step out of the gruesome environment, his heart heavy as water.

What his uncle had once protected, what he had once hoped Ye Yun would become, what he had never given up on even in the face of death, was now defiled by these damned people. This ignited a raging fire of anger in Ye Yun's heart, his bloodshot eyes almost spewing lava.

This was not a contradiction. Ye Yun might have deviated from the principles of propriety, righteousness, integrity, and shame to survive, and he had even killed Xu Yanan to save his own life. But this did not mean he was willing to harm more people for his own selfish desires... Don't forget, Xu Yanan was going to die anyway. Even if Ye Yun hadn't acted, would the Ts, summoned by the vulture, have let Xu Yanan go?

He could abandon all his former 'goodness' and even increase his 'evil' to survive, but as a person, shouldn't he have some底线 (底线 means 'bottom line' or 'principles')?

Struggling to suppress his nausea and pain, Ye Yun carefully avoided the bodies of the innocent and moved downward.

After descending a few floors, the safety passage became filled with thick, pungent smoke, almost obscuring his vision.

"It's fire..."

Ye Yun knew that the lower corridors were likely already engulfed in flames. This was normal; such frequent explosions would naturally cause fires.

When he reached the corner between the 18th and 19th floors, the smoke in the corridor had become even denser, making his eyes sting.

The smoke was clearly toxic. Moving through it, Ye Yun's vision blurred, and he felt the pain of suffocation.

Suffocation was more unbearable than the pain all over his body.

Ye Yun hesitated for a moment, then pushed open the door to the 18th floor corridor, intending to find a room to get a wet towel to cover his nose. Otherwise, he would pass out before reaching the bottom.

The 18th floor corridor clearly had seen intense combat. At least a hundred bodies lay scattered on the floor. The rooms around were filled with thick smoke and flames, and the once luxurious carpet was now a field of three-inch-high flames. With the continuous explosions from the rooms, some doors would suddenly burst open, and flames several meters long would surge out.

However, such a fire also indicated that there were no survivors on this floor.

Ye Yun's intention was to find a nearby room with a bathroom to get a wet towel, but since the floor was relatively safe, he didn't mind walking a few more steps—especially since a heavily armed Humvee was blocking the corridor entrance to the safety passage.

This Humvee had clearly crashed through from the Chinook. The room behind it was a restaurant, but it was now engulfed in flames, and all the tables and chairs inside had been shattered by the machine guns on the Humvee.

However, the Humvee had been severely damaged as soon as it left the restaurant. The side door was squeezed up, and the side of the vehicle was twisted in a grotesque manner.

Climbing over the Humvee, Ye Yun felt the heat from the hood and quickly moved toward the nearest room—likely a kitchen, if his guess was correct.

Just as his hand touched the doorknob, the door suddenly shattered outward, and flames and splintered wood engulfed Ye Yun. A shockwave then blew him back over ten meters to the T-intersection!

Despite his physical condition being twice that of a normal person, Ye Yun was almost knocked unconscious by the explosion. He really wanted to pass out, but the intense pain and burning sensation made him wish for death, even unconsciousness seemed like a luxury.

Clenching his teeth, Ye Yun rolled on the ground. Although the carpet was also burning, it was less intense than the flames on his shirt.

After putting out the scattered flames on his body, Ye Yun stumbled and pushed open the door to a room, falling inside.

Fortunately, it was a presidential suite that had not yet caught fire, though it was filled with thick smoke, it was still somewhat visible.

Dazed, Ye Yun pushed open the bathroom door and tumbled into the 4x4 bathtub, breaking the water pipe with a punch. Water splashed everywhere, drenching him.

The pain on his body lessened, and Ye Yun finally regained some clarity.

He originally wanted to use the 'system-produced' hemostatic spray, but to his surprise, he found no bleeding on his body. The front of his body, scorched by the flames, was already charred and black, and the wounds had stopped bleeding.

Looking at his completely ruined clothes, Ye Yun bitterly smiled and took out another set of waiter's uniform from his storage space.

Enduring the intense pain, Ye Yun changed into the new clothes and finally ran out of energy, sitting in the bathtub.

He felt an overwhelming urge to cry.

Although he had known his chances of survival in the major event were low, he never expected to be in such a miserable state without even encountering any true strong opponents.

Throughout the entire event, he had only killed the vulture and a bandit soldier with his own strength. Despite this, the environment within the building had almost taken his life.

Of course, whether the explosives in the building were planted by the T faction or the CT faction, his injuries ultimately stemmed from the ruthlessness of both sides. But this also showed that even the environment set up by the players in the major event was enough to almost kill him, a 'sergeant'.

Seeing that the building was still locked for another ten minutes, Ye Yun tightened his last bit of strength, climbed out of the bathtub, and took a wet towel to cover his mouth. He stumbled out of the room again.

He believed that his subsequent actions would be enough to give the system a lawful evil inclination... hiding for over two hours and not taking advantage of others' fights. If he was still judged as chaotic evil, then there was nothing more to say.

Now, he had only one goal.

To survive and walk out of this building!
