Chapter 6

With a new goal in mind, the thousand-strong zombie horde began to move slowly. Wherever they went, all the animals tried to avoid them, and the farmers and merchants on the road, seeing such a large group, also feared trouble and fled into the complex forest.

However, the zombies under Loki’s command were not the slow-moving creatures of traditional imagination. As long as their legs were not severely damaged, they could run at high speeds when hunting, with bursts of speed comparable to that of a men’s 100-meter champion. Their endurance was even more terrifying, allowing them to run until their leg muscles were completely exhausted.

Thus, these innocent passersby didn’t take long to join the thousand-strong horde. By noon, Loki’s zombie army had destroyed two small villages and absorbed over two hundred new members.

However, when the sun reached its highest point and Loki’s zombie horde crossed a small hill, Loki unexpectedly encountered a large group of cavalry and the infantry following them. From the armor and the tall banners they wore, it was clear that they were different from the guards in the previous town, being a much more formidable group.

“Guruguruguru!”

At this moment, the mayor’s daughter, Lianna, let out a low growl characteristic of zombies, alerting Loki. As the mayor’s daughter, she had been to King Arthur’s capital and was familiar with the Knights of the Round Table.

“Oh? What a coincidence?” Hearing Lianna’s warning, Loki was slightly surprised. It turned out that the group they had encountered was the very target of his mission, the Round Table Knight Dagomir’s forces.

“All zombies, stop advancing.”

In the next moment, Loki immediately issued an order to the entire zombie horde, causing them to stop in unison. They were on a small hill about twenty meters high, a very advantageous position for dealing with cavalry. However, what Loki found amusing was that once the zombies stopped, they immediately opened their mouths and drooled, adopting a “cute and silly” appearance, completely different from their ferocious demeanor when eating human flesh.

“Are those the rebels?”

At the same time, Dagomir, fully armed in knight’s armor, looked at the dark mass on the hill, feeling a bit uneasy. However, fortunately, the people on the hill seemed to be peasants, mostly without weapons, and could be called a mob.

“It should be them, my lord. According to calculations, if they were lightly equipped, they could have arrived here from Bedford’s south in about this time,” Dagomir’s knightly retainer said respectfully.

“From Bedford? They are truly bold, completely disregarding the mighty Dagomir!” Dagomir immediately showed a displeased expression, shouting loudly, his voice so clear that even Loki on the hill could hear it clearly.

“So this is Dagomir? What a loud voice.” Loki looked down at the noisy Dagomir with disdain.

“Guruguruguru, guruguru.” Lianna immediately replied.

“I see, hahaha, truly a gift from heaven! So Dagomir is that useless one!” Loki nodded thoughtfully. Lianna had identified Dagomir based on the unique Round Table Knight emblem on his chest and informed Loki that the nobles secretly referred to Dagomir as a “clown.”

It was this “clown” title that triggered Loki’s memory. Dagomir was the weakest and most useless of the Round Table Knights but the one who boasted the most. Although he didn’t know why King Arthur kept him around, in all the legends of King Arthur, this guy was always portrayed as utterly useless. However, because of his unique status as a Round Table Knight, Loki had always wanted to fight him, as he seemed to be the best breakthrough point for Loki against the Round Table Knights and even King Arthur.

“Sir, this small hill is not conducive to a charge. I suggest we send the infantry to clear the area first, drive them to the other side of the hill, and then you lead the charge,” a subordinate officer suggested to Dagomir. It was clear that Dagomir’s subordinates were quite adept at flattery, leaving the glory of the first strike to Dagomir.

“Hmm.” Dagomir’s eyes flickered, and he slowly nodded. “Do as you say, let those rabble know the majesty of King Arthur!”

“Yes, sir!”

Upon receiving Dagomir’s order, a group of lightly armored infantry immediately rushed up the hill with their weapons, seeing Loki’s weaponless peasants as free battle honors, gold, and women. They believed that once they crushed these so-called rebels, a bright future awaited them!

“Here they come?” Loki’s face showed a strange smile, and he issued a low command in zombie language.

Under Loki’s command, most of the zombies began to run backward, but those already on the hill were attracted by the approaching soldiers and instinctively charged forward.

“Ao! Wao!”

In the next moment, these zombies let out low growls and engaged the soldiers. However, like the town guards Loki had previously encountered, these Dagomir soldiers’ combat strength far exceeded that of ordinary humans. Even the zombies’ superior strength could be easily countered by these soldiers. Therefore, in a similar number, the zombies were no match for the soldiers and were quickly defeated.

“Charge! Charge!”

Buoyed by their victories and the desire for battle honors, the soldiers quickly reached the top of the hill, preparing to attack the rebels on the other side.

“Not good! Ambush!”

However, they didn’t expect that when they reached the other side of the hill, the secondary zombies hiding in the grass suddenly attacked.

By this time, it was too late for the soldiers to retreat. Only the sound of screams could be heard as many soldiers were killed by Loki’s secondary zombies.

Worse still, the soldiers who had been bitten or scratched by the zombies began to become sluggish, and the entire infantry unit fell into a terrifying state of paralysis.

“Clang! Clang! Clang!”

However, Dagomir, far away, had no idea what was happening. From the start of the battle, he had been using his sword to strike his shield, creating a deafening noise that drowned out the sounds of battle.

“Everyone, follow me and charge!”

Seeing that most of the soldiers had already crossed the top of the hill, Dagomir’s eyebrows raised slightly, and he shouted loudly, striking his shield, seemingly feeling that the moment to claim victory had arrived.

“For the glory of King Arthur!”

With that, Dagomir charged forward, and his cavalry followed, shouting, “For the glory of King Arthur!”

“Hiss—”

However, as Dagomir was about to reach the top of the hill, a huge sphere suddenly appeared in his line of sight, causing his horse to neigh in fear, rear up, and almost throw him off.

The knights behind Dagomir also encountered the same terrible situation, with some being thrown to the ground and trampled by panicked horses. If they hadn’t been system-enhanced soldiers, the chaos would have resulted in at least a dozen casualties, a significant loss for a cavalry unit of only fifty-odd men.

“What is this?”

Dagomir, regaining his senses, opened his eyes wide to see a huge sphere with a human head in front of him. Upon closer inspection, the sphere was made of humans, with their limbs twisted into strange angles to form these two-meter-diameter meatballs. It was no wonder his horse was so terrified at the sight of such a heinous and evil creation.

However, before he could think further, a second, third... sixth meatball appeared!

“What... What is this?”

“So evil!”

“Humans are being used as stones!?”

Seeing such terrifying meatballs on the battlefield, the knights let out incredulous voices, but their tone was filled with fear.

Clearly, Dagomir and the other knights’ morale had plummeted, and the horses they rode were completely terrified by the zombies’ death aura, refusing to move, turning the cavalry, known as the kings of the plains, into standing targets.

“Now!”

With Loki’s voice, the six meatballs were launched like cannonballs. Two of them, due to loose connections, scattered in mid-air, and the small zombie children inside were flung out, landing on the frontmost knights.

“Children?”

A knight, holding a legless child, stared in shock.

But the legless child immediately opened its mouth and bit the knight’s nose, tearing it off in one go.

“Aaah! Aaah!” The knight, whose nose was bitten off, screamed in agony, throwing the legless child away. However, he was immediately thrown off his horse, which had been pushed over by the surrounding zombies, pinning him down.

Suddenly, the knights, who had been confident, found themselves in a hellish situation, surrounded by splattered blood and flying chunks of flesh.

“Damn! Could this be a black wizard?”

Seeing the situation was dire, Dagomir cursed and, without regard for the others, threw away his weapon and turned his horse to flee. He knew that although he had some strength, he would be powerless against a black wizard, and his experience told him that if he didn’t escape now, he would have no chance.

Relying on years of escape experience, Dagomir quickly fled from the chaos.

“Dagomir is indeed a coward... but his escape skills are impressive. Lianna, Michelle, follow me.” Loki, who had seen everything from the top of the hill, frowned slightly and called out to the two loyal female zombies, quickly crossing the chaotic battlefield to chase after him.
