Chapter 7

It was already around ten o'clock at night. A car was parked outside the West District police station. After a moment, two people walked out of the police station, with a police officer following behind, sternly warning one of them, "This time, I'll let you off. If we catch you trying to kidnap children again, I'll slap you, regardless of whether there's evidence or not. Do you hear me?"

"I hear you..." The man being scolded was a fat man who responded in a muffled voice.

This fat man was Tian Xiaodu, who had been tricked by Wang Shiyu in the afternoon. He had been relatively neat in the afternoon, but now he looked particularly disheveled, with a slightly swollen face. He had clearly had a tough afternoon, and he was also quite embarrassed. After leaving the police station, he walked silently to the car parked outside and got in.

"Master, what exactly happened today?" the man accompanying him couldn't help but ask. This man looked to be in his mid-twenties, wearing glasses, and seemed to be a steady person.

"Shut up, don't meddle in things that don't concern you!" Tian Xiaodu shouted in a low voice. The young man was his apprentice, Fang Tao. He had been detained for half a day before the police finally allowed him to call someone. He then contacted Fang Tao to come and pick him up from the police station.

Seeing his master angrily get into the car and slam the door, Fang Tao didn't get angry. He just smiled faintly, opened the driver's door, and started the car to leave.

He drove his master home and was about to turn around to go back to his own place when his phone in his pocket suddenly rang. He stopped the car by the side of the road, glanced at the number on the phone, and was slightly surprised. He then quickly answered the call.

"Mr. Cao, what brings you to call me?" Fang Tao said with a smile. The person on the other end of the phone was Cao Kang.

Fang Tao was also a chef at the Wanlai Fu Grand Hotel, the type who was good at networking. Once, Cao Kang had brought some people to the hotel for a meal and happened to meet him. They exchanged numbers, but this was the first time Cao Kang had called him, so Fang Tao's tone was somewhat eager.

"Fang Tao, I need your help with something!" Cao Kang didn't beat around the bush, "Today, I encountered a guy at the night market in the west of the city who doesn't know his place. I want you to help me teach him a lesson!"

"Teach him a lesson?" Fang Tao was taken aback. Why would Cao Kang, who could easily find someone to do this, come to him, a chef?

"Let me explain. The guy runs a skewer stall, selling grilled lamb skewers. It looks simple, just skewering the lamb and adding some seasoning before grilling it. I want you to figure out how to make it. Tomorrow, I'll set up a stall right across from his, and I'll drive him out of business," Cao Kang continued, pausing for a moment, "Of course, I'll give you a reward afterward."

"Hehe, the reward is a small matter. But making lamb skewers doesn't sound too difficult. It should be simple," Fang Tao said with a smile, thinking to himself that as a chef at Wanlai Fu, dealing with street food should be a piece of cake. This was a waste of his talent.

They discussed some specific arrangements and then ended the call.

Fang Tao held his phone and thought for a moment, then smiled. The rich young master was really bored, coming up with such a silly idea just because he was upset with a street vendor. But it was a good opportunity to get closer to Cao Kang.

As he started the car and drove away, Fang Tao thought to himself, "Grilling lamb skewers? Ha, that's too easy."

...

By eleven o'clock, Ye Chui had sold his last lamb skewer. As he packed up to go home, his mind began to feel restless. Images of Lin Wei's beautiful and delicate face kept appearing in his mind. When he gave her five skewers earlier, her face first showed surprise, then uncontrollable joy. She eagerly took the skewers from him, and her happy and satisfied expression was incredibly cute, making Ye Chui's heart flutter. When he rode his tricycle back to the neighborhood, he even accidentally hit a trash can.

Looking at the trash can rolling on the ground, Ye Chui laughed to himself and patted his head. What was wrong with him? He had seen all kinds of women in his two lives, so why did he suddenly feel so affected by Lin Wei tonight?

Hmm... Maybe it was the hormones of adolescence. After all, his body was that of a teenager.

As he parked his tricycle downstairs and went up, Ye Chui made a silent decision. In his previous life, he had devoted himself to the kitchen from his teenage years, and his youth had passed by. When he achieved success and looked back, he was left with only regret. Now, seeing Lin Wei, he couldn't hide his feelings. Since heaven had given him a second chance, he couldn't waste this opportunity. He had to find a way to win Lin Wei's heart!

Judging by her clothes, she didn't seem to be an ordinary person, perhaps even a rich girl. But for Ye Chui, a poor boy chasing a rich girl wasn't a big deal—especially one who was a foodie. He just needed to figure out how to meet her again. Would she come back after trying his lamb skewers?

With these thoughts in mind, Ye Chui pushed open the door to his home and saw An Jing sitting quietly on the sofa.

She was reviewing her lessons, a common sight among children from poor families. An Jing knew how precious her chance to go to school was, so she studied very hard. She had cried for a long time after getting second place in the school exam, setting extremely high standards for herself.

When she saw Ye Chui return, she hurriedly got up to help him with his foot bath. Ye Chui told her to go to bed early, but she never listened. Sometimes, she would fall asleep on the sofa while waiting for him.

Seeing his sister carefully place a basin of hot water at his feet, her half-old but clean white T-shirt couldn't hide her beautiful figure. Ye Chui, who had just sat down on the sofa, felt his heart flutter for a moment. He quickly shook his head, realizing that seeing Lin Wei had really affected him...

"An Jing, you have to go to school early tomorrow. Go to bed now," Ye Chui urged, thinking to himself, "No, I can't have those thoughts about my sister... even though we're not related by blood."

After a few more words, An Jing finally went to her room. Ye Chui washed his feet and got ready for bed, lying on the sofa and falling into a deep sleep with beautiful dreams.

The next morning, he woke up and immediately went to the bathroom. Teenagers in their prime need to be diligent in their hygiene!

That evening, when Ye Chui pushed his tricycle to his usual spot at the night market and started setting up his stall, he suddenly froze. Right across from his stall, another lamb skewer stall had appeared...
