Chapter 1

In the midst of the rugged mountain stream, a black-clad youth pressed down on a beetle with a shiny, black carapace that resembled a crab and a stag beetle.

The black-clad youth held a dagger in his other hand and swiftly cut off the beetle's struggling claws at the joints, then pried open the carapace to reveal the tender white flesh inside.

Without any hesitation, the black-clad youth sucked the meat out of the claws like he was eating a crab, then chewed a large piece of the tender flesh and swallowed it directly.

"Hunting the black beetle, no beast soul obtained. Consuming the black beetle's flesh can randomly grant 0 to 10 gene points."

"Consuming the black beetle's flesh, gene +0."

A strange voice echoed in Han Sen's mind, along with a series of information that appeared simultaneously.

Han Sen: Un-evolved.

Rank: None

Lifespan: 200 years.

Requirements for Divine Body Evolution: 100 gene points.

Gene Points Owned: 79 gene points.

Beast Souls Owned: None.

"I haven't gained any gene points from over thirty black beetles in a row. It seems I've eaten too much black beetle flesh, and it can no longer promote my physical evolution. I didn't even get a single gene point. At this rate, how many years will it take for me to complete my first evolution and gain a rank?" A look of frustration appeared on Han Sen's face.

Over a hundred years ago, human technology had reached an extremely high level, and they finally mastered spatial teleportation technology. However, when humans attempted to teleport, they were shocked to find that they were neither sent back to the past nor to the future.

They couldn't even teleport from one planet to another. On the other side of the spatial teleportation channel was a completely different world.

A world that humans could not even imagine, where all technological means were rendered useless. In this world, a submachine gun was less effective than a steel knife; various missiles and nuclear weapons could not explode and were no different from a pile of scrap metal; various mechanical and electronic devices could not operate at all.

All kinds of terrifying creatures roamed this world, and humans, who had once stood at the top of the food chain due to their intelligence and technological power, became the weakest at the bottom of the food chain.

However, when humans killed some relatively weaker creatures in this world and ate their flesh and blood, they were surprised to find that their bodies underwent a dramatic transformation, evolving rapidly in ways that science could not explain.

What delighted humans even more was that as their bodies evolved, their lifespans also increased. This discovery shocked the entire human race.

In the following hundred years, more and more humans entered this world, which they called the "Sanctuary of the Gods," gradually becoming familiar with its rules. They hunted and ate the creatures of this world, evolving their bodies. The higher the degree of physical evolution, the longer the lifespan. Theoretically, if one could continue evolving, achieving immortality was not impossible.

In this world, technological means were completely useless. The only thing that could help humans was the most primitive combat techniques. Ancient martial arts, which had long since declined in modern society, proved to be unexpectedly effective in this world.

Various ancient martial arts were rediscovered and, after over a hundred years of inheritance and development, formed new martial arts schools. Various new ancient martial arts also emerged.

In addition to ancient martial arts, the Sanctuary of the Gods provided another great assistance to humans: beast souls.

Hunting creatures in the Sanctuary of the Gods gave humans a certain chance to obtain the beast soul of the creature. Beast souls came in various forms. Some could be directly summoned to fight for humans, while others could transform into armor or weapons.

Some beast souls could even assist humans in transforming, turning them into terrifying giants, divine birds soaring through the sky, or insects that could burrow into the ground.

Whether it was ancient martial arts or beast souls, they had little to do with Han Sen.

Even in the technological society, advanced scientific and technological means were held by a few people.

Han Sen completed his integrated compulsory education and, at the age of sixteen, graduated and entered the Sanctuary of the Gods. What he learned were only the basic new ancient martial arts that everyone in this era knew.

As for beast souls, they were expensive. Even the lowest-ranked beast souls were beyond the means of the impoverished Han Sen.

Without powerful ancient martial arts, without the help of beast souls, and unable to afford high-grade alloy weapons made by humans, Han Sen struggled in the Sanctuary of the Gods, only able to hunt low-rank creatures and eat their flesh to evolve his body.

However, the more low-rank flesh he ate, the less effective it became for his physical evolution. As a result, even after more than three months in the Sanctuary of the Gods, Han Sen had still not completed a single physical evolution.

Han Sen had tried to hunt stronger creatures, but even the weakest primitive-level creature, the Copper Tooth Beast, almost cost him his life, forcing him to rest for nearly a month before he could return to the Sanctuary of the Gods.

Now, Han Sen had almost eaten all the low-rank creatures he could hunt in the vicinity. Eating their flesh was no longer of any use. If he didn't take the risk to hunt higher-rank creatures, he didn't know how many more years it would take to evolve his body.

As Han Sen was considering whether to try hunting the Copper Tooth Beast again, he suddenly saw something crawl out of the mountain stream from the corner of his eye.

Han Sen initially thought it was a black beetle, but he quickly realized something was off. Black beetles had black shells, but what he saw in the corner of his eye was a dazzling golden yellow.

Han Sen focused his gaze on the thing that had crawled out of the stream. It was indeed a black beetle, but this black beetle was different from ordinary ones. It was as big as a basketball and had a golden color, like a piece of gold sculpture. Its eyes, in particular, were like yellow crystals, clear and transparent. If one didn't look closely, they wouldn't realize it was a living creature.

"How strange is this black beetle?" Han Sen stared motionless at the golden black beetle.

During this time, he had hunted countless black beetles and knew them well. Black beetles had poor eyesight but were very sensitive to sound. As long as he remained still, even if he was right next to them, the black beetles wouldn't detect his presence.

Han Sen stared motionless at the strange golden black beetle, but unexpectedly, the golden black beetle started crawling toward him.

Without hesitation, when the golden black beetle reached Han Sen's side, he pressed down on its carapace with one hand and, with the dagger in his other hand, skillfully cut into its vulnerable joints, making six precise cuts in a fluid motion, cleanly and swiftly severing all six of the golden black beetle's claws.

Then, while the golden black beetle was struggling to flip over, he stabbed it under the white line on its abdomen, twisted the dagger, and the golden black beetle immediately stopped moving.

"Hunting the divine blood black beetle, obtained the divine blood black beetle beast soul. Consuming the divine blood black beetle's flesh can randomly grant 0 to 10 divine gene points."
