Chapter 23

At the Qi family villa, Qi Ruxue returned home but was immediately intercepted by her father, Qi Changsheng, who took her to the family hall. At this moment, several of Qi Ruxue's uncles were also seated there. They had all heard that Qi Ruxue had torn up the annulment agreement and refused to break off her engagement with Ye Tianchen. This caused a stir in the Qi family, especially for Qi Changsheng, who faced criticism from his brothers and uncles.

"Ruxue, why didn't you break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen?" Qi Changsheng asked his daughter, somewhat angrily.

"Father, you don't need to say any more. I will decide my own affairs. This is a matter of my life, and I will not break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen," Qi Ruxue said stubbornly.

"You... Why? Could it be that you have fallen in love with Ye Tianchen?"

Qi Changsheng couldn't understand why his daughter, Qi Ruxue, was unwilling to break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen. This time, the Qi family had used two generous conditions to exchange for the annulment with the Ye family. Moreover, they had already communicated with the Qin family, and next month, his daughter, Qi Ruxue, was supposed to marry into the Qin family to solidify the alliance. The Qi and Qin families were planning to join forces, but unexpectedly, his daughter was unwilling to break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen. What could he do?

"No, I just met Ye Tianchen for the first time. I have no interest in this man. Even if he is somewhat handsome, it's not enough to move me. I will decide my own affairs. I will not break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen, nor will I marry Qin Heng from the Qin family. It's that simple," Qi Ruxue said firmly.

Hearing his daughter's words, Qi Changsheng was almost on the verge of fainting. In front of his brothers and uncles, this was making him lose face.

Originally, Qi Changsheng had become the leader of the Qi family, which some of his brothers and uncles were already dissatisfied with. This time, the annulment with the Ye family and the alliance with the Qin family were decisions made by everyone. In short, this was not just Qi Ruxue's personal matter, nor was it something Qi Changsheng could decide alone. It was about the development of the entire Qi family. The alliance with the Qin family would bring many benefits. If this matter failed, not only would they offend the Qin family and lose many benefits, but the Qi family would also become a laughingstock in the capital.

"Third Brother, you need to discipline your daughter!"

"Ruxue has been spoiled by you."

"The marriage alliance with the Qin family is urgent. The military committee is about to hold elections, and the marriage must take place next month."

Before Qi Changsheng could speak, some of Qi Ruxue's uncles had already started to pressure her. The marriage alliance with the Qin family was crucial for the development of the entire Qi family. If Qi Ruxue refused, everything would be in vain, causing significant damage to the Qi family's interests.

"Ruxue, no matter what, you must marry Qin Heng," Qi Changsheng said sternly.

"No, I have never met this man. Marrying him would make me nothing more than a commodity to be traded. I don't want to be a sacrifice for the prosperity of the family!" Qi Ruxue said loudly.

Slap!

A loud slap landed on Qi Ruxue's face. Seeing her father's angry expression, tears filled her beautiful eyes. Her father had never hit her before, but this time, to force her to marry into the Qin family, he hit her for the first time.

"Father, you..." Tears streamed down Qi Ruxue's face, and her heart ached.

"Don't call me Father. I've spoiled you too much, which is why you are so defiant. You must agree to this, no matter what. It's decided!" Qi Changsheng felt bad too. He had never hit his daughter before, but this time, for the alliance with the Qin family, he had to be a bit heartless.

Qi Ruxue stood there, tears streaming down her face. Her heart ached, and she never thought her father, who had always doted on her, would hit her. More importantly, he was disregarding her lifelong happiness by forcing her to marry into the Qin family. Wasn't he treating her happiness as a joke?

Born into a prominent family, Qi Ruxue had seen many marriages arranged for the sake of family interests, but none of them were happy. Two people with no feelings for each other were forced together for some benefit. Could they possibly be happy?

No matter what kind of woman, in her mind, there was always a fairy-tale dream of living a happy life with the person she loved, having children, welcoming the sunrise, and strolling in the sunset until they both grew old together, cherishing each other.

"Ruxue, Qin Heng is a good young man, handsome and talented. You won't lose out."

"Yes, marrying into the Qin family will bring you endless wealth and honor."

"The Qi and Qin families are well-matched. The Qin family will not mistreat you, especially with the old man in charge."

"This marriage alliance between our Qi family and the Qin family will strengthen both families' power!"

Seeing that Qi Ruxue refused to marry into the Qin family and would not break off the engagement with Ye Tianchen, her uncles began to persuade her. In the end, their only goal was the development of the family's interests and their own gains.

"I am not like you. I will not marry into the Qin family, nor do I want wealth and honor. You are pushing me into a fire for your own interests. You are too cruel!" Qi Ruxue shouted at her uncles.

"You... How can this be pushing you into a fire? Qin Heng is talented and could become a representative. With the old man in charge, Qin Heng's career will be smooth. You won't lose out by marrying him," Qi Changsheng sighed.

"Father, don't you know who Qin Heng is? He was once in prison for rape. How can I be happy marrying such a person?" Qi Ruxue was completely devastated. Her family, even her own father, was forcing her. How could she not be angry and sad?

"So what? The marriage alliance with the Qin family will elevate our entire family. This is the most important thing," Qi Changsheng said loudly, gritting his teeth.

"No, if I have to choose, I would rather marry Ye Tianchen than Qin Heng!"

Qi Ruxue cried and ran out of the hall. Qi Changsheng took a deep breath. He didn't expect his daughter to be so stubborn. He knew that if Ye Tianchen was a wastrel and a failure, then Qin Heng was a convict and a heartless person. His bad deeds in the capital were well-known. If it weren't for the old man in charge, Qin Heng would have been executed long ago.

However, this marriage alliance with the Qin family was crucial for the development of the entire Qi family. It was also an opportunity for the Qi family, so Qi Changsheng was willing to make the painful decision to marry his daughter into the Qin family.

"Third Brother, what do you think...?"

"I will handle it. Tell the Qin family that the marriage will take place next month as scheduled. All the wedding arrangements will proceed as planned," Qi Changsheng said.

At this time, Ye Tianchen had already sent his sister back to school. After leaving the capital's middle school, Ye Tianchen did not return home. Although he had killed Chen Hao, he knew he had to cut off the root. Chen Hao's father, Chen Hu, was a notorious thug in the area, known as "Mad Dog." He was a ruthless person who had committed countless crimes, including arson, murder, and robbery. He had strong connections with the white-collar world in the capital, which is why he had never been punished. However, this time, Chen Hao's kidnapping of Ye Qianwen had enraged Ye Tianchen, and both father and son were doomed to die.

As Ye Tianchen left the capital's middle school, two men in plain clothes followed him closely. They exchanged glances and nodded in agreement, following him.

"Who would have thought this guy's information would be so hard to get? I heard that Team Flame had to apply for approval from above."

"Really? With Team Flame's capabilities, it shouldn't be hard to get anyone's information. This guy must be something special."

"Could he really have deceived everyone in the capital? To pretend to be a wastrel and a failure for twenty years, his patience is truly admirable."

"Hmph, no matter what, we will find a chance to teach this guy a lesson and show him how powerful the members of the Falcon Unit are. We can't let Team Flame down."

After a brief conversation, the two men separated and followed Ye Tianchen from different positions to avoid being discovered.

Ye Tianchen did not leave the area but continued to wander around. He was most familiar with the local thugs because he was trying to find out where the notorious Chen Hu was. If he didn't eliminate this person, he couldn't be at ease, and his sister, Ye Qianwen, couldn't study in peace.

Around ten o'clock at night, in a villa, a large man with bloodshot eyes glared fiercely at the front. A handgun lay on the table in front of him, unused for many years, but it seemed he had no choice this time.

In the afternoon, this large man received a message that his only son had died, killed in an abandoned factory on the outskirts, with blood flowing from all seven orifices. This large man was Chen Hao's father, Chen Hu.

"Damn it, who, who killed my son, Chen Hu? I will tear him to pieces!" Chen Hu roared with a ferocious expression.

Standing in front of Chen Hu were his three most trusted and capable assistants. All three were skilled fighters, summoned by Chen Hu to avenge his son's death.

"Boss, we heard that Little Hao kidnapped the Ye family's youngest daughter, Ye Qianwen, and threatened Ye Tianchen's brother to come, and then..." one of the large men said.

"Ye Tianchen? Could he have killed my son? A failure and a wastrel, could he defeat over thirty strong men? And Rat was there too..." Chen Hu asked with great doubt.
