Chapter 16. I Did Not Expect You Would Also Think About These Types Of Problems

Just as Yu Ze’s voice fell, a cry of “wah” followed by weeping was heard from Qiao Ruo Ming’s side.

Yu Ze was startled, he even wanted to say something. Song Yan continuously gestured at him: “Hang it! Hang up!” He’d nothing more to say to Qiao Ruo Ming.

Yu Ze didn’t know what was going on and so he hurried to disconnect the call.

He looked at Song Yan, “He didn’t seem mentally prepared. Did you run into him today?”

Song Yan nodded, but he didn’t want to dirty Yu Ze’s ears with the words that Qiao Ruo Ming had cursed. He only told him, “I ran into him, also talked to him. You can imagine what happened next.”

Song Yan pointed at his own body, he was using Yu Ze’s appearance now. It was very clear Qiao Ruo Ming hadn’t looked favorably at him.

Yu Ze looked at the appearance of Song Yan, at the face full of helplessness, and suddenly burst into loud laughter. He laughed so heartily that Song Yan couldn’t help but become more depressed and asked, “Is it that funny?”

Yu Ze nodded, “Really very funny. He actually meant to target me, I even feel that he’s rather pitiful….and you too….to face this sudden difference in treatment, not used to it, right?

He finished laughing, then asked, “You just told him that you are breaking up. But once you and me switch back, you’ll then have to coax him to return.”

“Won’t happen,” Song Yan said, “I won’t get back with him again.”

Yu Ze smiled, “I think he rather loves you. You can understand that it is me he’s angry at, that he doesn’t even blame you, right? If your reason was just because of his attitude towards you…..”

Song Yan interrupted him, “Teacher Yu, I am extremely clear. It’s exactly because he swore at you, that I wanted to break up with him.”

The old lights of the theater flickered. And for one moment, Yu Ze had no idea how to respond. He said, “To be honest, there’s no need……” It was by chance he and Song Yan had became like this. The accident had already disrupted their lives too much. He really wanted to return to the lifestyle he originally had, and Song Yan would only want it even more.

“It’s extremely necessary,” Yu Ze replied, “After all this time together……I feel….”

Yu Ze looked into his own eyes. He was an actor, and so would often examine the him in the lens of a camera, in the reflection of the mirror, but his soul had floated out, and so it was only recently he’d began to experience really facing himself, really looking at himself.

The eyes of the him right now, were glittering, sparkling. Yu Ze couldn’t help but sigh in his heart, so young….he would need all his acting skills in order to bring out that shining feeling of youth. The Song Yan in his body, did it as easily as blowing off dust*. Because reality, was the best acting.

* 不費吹灰之力 saying; as easy a blowing off dust; effortless

“What did you feel?” Yu Ze asked, his voice soft.

Song Yan said, “I feel that your character is much better than Xiao Qiao’s. One shouldn’t look too much at appearances, one’s character is still more important.”

These were words from the heart. Song Yan had also wondered these days, what would it have been like if he’d exchanged bodies with Qiao Ruo Ming? Perhaps Qiao Ruo Ming would’ve been wild with joy to be “Second Young Master Song”, he didn’t want to imagine.

“……Even though we haven’t known each other long, but I feel that you’re the friend I could trust the most, the best older brother, even closer than my own brother.” He was somewhat touched by his own words.

Yu Ze softly laughed and in his heart said, it was sure good to be young.

“Don’t you go back on that business with Qiao Ruo Ming though. I am not going to coax Qiao Ruo Ming – he is too passionate, too hard for me to endure,” He said.

“You’ve reminded me!” Song Yan exclaimed. He at once made Yu Ze open his cell phone, and proclaimed on almost every social media app that he was back to being single; thoroughly denying his relationship with Qiao Ruo Ming and also clearing up the recent events with Yu Ze.

Qiao Ruo Ming had been in a daze ever since he’d received the call from Second Young Master Song on breaking up. He hadn’t expected that Song Second would actually trust Yu Ze so much, that he’d just kicked him aside without even asking a question.

In the split second before the call had disconnected, Qiao Ruo Ming had even faintly heard Yu Ze’s voice shouting on the the other side of the phone, “Hurry, hang up!”

It was possible that it’d been Yu Ze who forced Second Young Master to call to breakup. He’d made him call, watched as he talked, didn’t even allow Second Young Master Song to say another word! Just to humiliate him on purpose!

“This disgusting…..” Qiao Ruo Ming couldn’t help but curse, “Bitch!”

With difficulty, Qiao Ruo Ming managed to calm down a bit, just as his assistant again sent him a link. Qiao Ruo Ming clicked on it, it turned out to be Second Young Master Song’s new post on Weibo.

“Recently single, focused on career.” Five short words*, concise and clear.

* five –> eight in raws 最近單身,專注事業

This Weibo update immediately trended upon being posted. Second Young Master Song suddenly announced that he was single! It seemed that both the former Qiao Ruo Ming and the more recent Yu Ze were out of the game.

But Qiao Ruo Ming was clear that this was declaring the end of being with him. Yu Ze was at this moment, right next to Second Young Master Song!

Qiao Ruo Ming knew that he’d lost this round too tragically – hadn’t yet struggled until he understood, when Yu Ze landed a KO*. He really couldn’t accept that.

* KO left in english in the raws; means knock out

Over this period of time, he’d acquired from Second Young Master Song several branded watches, a sports car, and several pieces of jewelry, not to mention the various sorts of invisible resources, and the halo of being tied to the Song Family, along with a leap in popularity. Therefore, it wasn’t a loss to say it was a loss.

But if he really could become Song Second’s legal spouse, the benefits of that would be unimaginable.

Qiao Ruo Ming decided to cool off for a while, see what would happen next. He was clear these rich young masters were the most biased on the spur of an impulsive moment; and so he wouldn’t be able to win if he went against Yu Ze right now. He had to take his time, had to make a careful decision; only then would he again be favored!

“Didn’t think that Yu Ze this person, would have tricks this powerful……seems to be flirtatious to the bone.” Qiao Ruo Ming muttered in his heart.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Yu Ze was currently his rival in love, he’d actually want to learn a bit from Yu Ze’s experience; after all, the older the ginger, the spicier it was.

But it was unexpected, that a Beta was able to capture Second Young Master Song’s heart. Qiao Ruo Ming still had to admire that. He himself didn’t dare confess his own attribute to Second Young Master Song, always feeling that if he hadn’t been so good at pretending to be an Omega, he absolutely wouldn’t have made a name for himself, and wouldn’t even have entered Song Second’s eyes.

Qiao Ruo Ming immediately made his assistant pay attention to every move from Song Yan and Yu Ze, and to gather every bit of news regarding them on the internet. He also wanted more information regarding Yu Ze. If he wanted to get back into the game, he could only carefully do his homework.

Over at the theater, the two stayed until the sky entirely became dark; only then did they leave.

Yu Ze had obtained Song Yan’s approval; construction on the theater would begin as soon as possible, actors would be recruited, and most importantly, the rights to the stage production of ‘Bright’ would first be brought.

Song Yan completely supported him, he said, “I can even come observe as the Film Emperor, imagine me finding fault with the acting skills of those newcomers, everyone would definitely think Teacher Yu’s too awesome!”

Yu Ze laughed as he shook his head. Just then, Song Yan’s cell phone began to ring. Song Yan glanced at the number and immediately cut the call off.

“Who is it?” Yu Ze asked.

He’d already noticed that it was the same number Song Yan had disconnected many times before.

“It’s Xu Shi,” Song Yan replied.

Xu Shi had wanted to chase Yu Ze before, but Yu Ze had rejected him. Now Song Yan also thought him a headache; Xu Shi seemed to be even more passionate, even more persistent than before. He could only cruelly reject the phone calls. But Xu Shi would still frequently send him emails, or some fresh flowers and gifts.

It was the first time Song Yan felt that this Big Brother Xu was so hatefully excessive, he was almost unable to stand it any longer.

“Even if I have to be an Omega all my life, there’s no way I would pick Xu Shi!”

“I didn’t expect you to also think about these types of problems, ” Yu Ze laughed.

“Of course I’ve thought about it. Haven’t you thought of it?”

Yu Ze shook his head, “I will not think about that problem for the time being.”

The next morning, Yu Ze went to show his face in the office. He would now go once every three days* to his own company, hide in the office to read scripts, sometimes he would listen to a meeting, and when Song Yan wanted him to scold someone, he would drag the person over to the office for a scolding. He threw most of the business matters into the work mailbox, so Song Yan could then go through the mail and pass down instructions to the subordinates.

*the raws mean that he goes once, every two days apart; which means two days rest, than one day at the office; which in lovely english becomes “once every three days” (I’m leaving this note in b/c I spent some time thinking about this, so here you go XD)

Fang Yuan gave him a brief rundown every morning, followed by that day’s schedule.

After she finished talking about proper matters, she also told Yu Ze there had been many reactions towards his declaration of being single. Yu Ze nodded, he’d actually already seen it.

“Then for Old Mr. Song’s birthday banquet, you are not planning to bring a companion, is that right?” She asked. If Song Yan was going to bring a companion, the appropriate accommodation would have to first be prepared; there would be a lot of filming at the event, from the seats to the cameras, everything had to be properly arranged.

She again added, “Eldest Young Master is bringing Lu Qiu Yi.”

Yu Ze found the pair of Song Qi and Lu Qiu Yi extremely peculiar. Song Qi hadn’t kept Lu Qiu Yi for long, and now he was bringing him to an important event.

But that was none of his business, he didn’t remark on Song Qi, only replied, “Yes, I won’t bring a companion that day. But prepare an invitation for Yu Ze, a VIP seat.”

“Alright,” Fang Yuan said.

She thought about it, then decided to confirm it again, “But he’s not your companion, is that right?”

Yu Ze slowly nodded his head, “That’s right.”

Fang Yuan noted down the arrangement, and finally reminded Yu Ze, “Today night, you have to go to the Garden for dinner.”

Yu Ze absentmindedly flipped though a file as he asked, “Whose appointment? Can it be put off?” He was busy with matters over at the theater.

“It’s your father, your mother, your big brother. Your entire family of four,” Fang Yuan replied.

Yu Ze lifted his head, and said, “I understand.”

It had almost been three months already, the people of the Song Family had all been so busy with their own affairs, that a time for everyone to eat together had finally been settled on. He felt that it would definitely not be a simple meal, and most definitely not a mere family reunion*.

* 父母寶貝兒子 literally means “father mother dear son”; this took me some time to puzzle out, but it most likely means appellations that would be used during the reunion; so someone would call out “father”, someone would call out mother”, someone would call out “dear”, and someone would call out “son” –> tl;dr “family reunion”

This might very well be the whole family laying their cards out in a battle over the divorce. The father, the mother, on a seesaw, wanting their two sons to declare which side they would stand on.

Bad news: It would be Yu Ze’s first time meeting Song Yan’s father, his mother, and his older brother all at once, it should be more difficult to pretend than before.

Good news: The focus of their attention should be on the matter of the divorce, they perhaps wouldn’t pay much attention to him.

Bad news: He needed to say which side he supported.

Good news: He wasn’t the real Song Yan, this bit of emotional issue should be left for Song Yan to worry about.

After thinking the matter through, Yu Ze gave Song Yan a phone call, and as soon as Song Yan answered the phone, he immediately said, “They have begun.”

Author has something to say: This pairing of big brother’s is a sub-CP, will not follow the pattern of “keeping” until there is true love. Everyone shouldn’t be too invested in Lu Qiu Yi, because he is a signboard (cannon fodder).

Translator has something to say: 4/6 ~ and here it is! The truth about Qiao Ruo Ming! (anyone surprised ~?) (i was, i legit thought he was an Omega with some hormonal problems) (next two chapters should be uploaded by Friday ~) (sorry for the wait >.<)
