Chapter 73

"Who will fight me! Who will fight me!" the half-orc Soker shouted loudly. At the same time, behind the army of the Nightmare God, a large sacrificial magic circle was in operation. The masked dog-headed fanatics continuously cut wounds on their bodies, pouring their blood into the magic circle. When they bled to death, another dog-headed person would step forward, put on the mask, and continue the previous person's actions.

The magic circle was subtly affecting the residents of Nibo Town, making them restless and unable to think calmly. Every time this happened, a guard whose will was affected would rush down from the city wall to engage the half-orc in a one-on-one battle. Strangely, at first, the half-orc's strength, agility, and combat skills were only at the beginner level, clumsy and lacking in technique. But with his inexplicable victories, the half-orc grew at an astonishing speed.

"Plug your ears, don't listen to that guy's nonsense!" Such warnings echoed throughout the city wall. The annoying half-orc stood outside the range of ordinary arrows, holding a shield that could not only block ranged weapons but also resist magic missiles.

Soker continuously provoked Nibo Town, further demoralizing the city's defenders to prepare for the nightmare spell. He was very patient, knowing that someone would eventually lose their temper and come out to ambush him.

Sure enough, he smelled the scent of a stranger. There was no one in sight, likely a hidden assassin. He knew he couldn't find the other person, but someone would solve this problem for him.

The so-called "duel" was just a ruse, a trick by the priest of Lamashu. He made a gesture backward, and immediately a spellcaster began chanting. A large area of demonic fire enveloped the area. This purple flame had no temperature and no killing power, but it would stick to the body, even revealing the outline of a hidden attacker, as invisibility spells couldn't hide it.

The rest was a one-on-one battle. Soker grinned viciously, raising his shield and weapon to charge forward.

Under the influence of various nightmare spells, his opponent would always lose their composure and judgment, allowing Soker to quickly gain victory and grow stronger. The half-orc removed his mask, planted his serrated sword in the ground, and raised his opponent's lifeless head, letting the dead man's blood flow over his face while shouting his name: "Soker! Soker! General Soker!"

Then he saw a pair of glowing round eyes watching him from a distance.

Following the map, Zhao Mai avoided the impassable rocky area and waded through a relatively shallow river, finally reaching the battlefield. He saw Soker's triumphant display from afar and turned on the high beams.

"This scoundrel! This bastard!" Ranger Karl, coughing with anger, shouted from the passenger seat.

"Uh... Why are you more agitated than I am?" Zhao Mai stretched his neck, flexed his fingers and wrists, and said to Karl, "You sit tight, I'll take care of him."

Turning around, he looked through the windshield at the fully armed Soker, then slammed on the gas. The car surged forward, and the seat pushed him back with an exhilarating force. Zhao Mai was like a raging beast, his angry roar of "I'll crush you" echoing in the car.

"THE·CHE" descended the hill, even taking off as it crossed the ridge. The tires kicked up dust and gravel, forming a rolling cloud of smoke behind it. Zhao Mai roared, his hand constantly on the horn, drawing the attention of both sides in the siege.

"What kind of monster is that? It looks like steel, is it some kind of golem?" someone shouted in surprise, suddenly realizing their voice sounded odd because they had stuffed cloth in their ears. Many others had done the same, now removing the items and staring intently at the scene.

"A golem?" someone else thought along the same lines. "But who in the North is rich enough to own a combat golem?"

"Does it matter? Don't forget Soker's strange methods," a guard said, still shaken. "Remember Sir Williams, the paladin, who charged with his warhorse, lance aimed at the shield? Soker didn't budge. The paladin was thrown off his horse by the recoil, even breaking his right arm."

"You mean...?" the person also recalled that scene, which everyone found incredible. A paladin's charge, empowered by divine strength, was incredibly powerful, capable of breaking a castle's iron gate. But Soker was just that bizarre, standing firm without even a wobble. That scene had become a nightmare for many.

"Look, Soker is already in a defensive stance, there's no way..."

The half-orc didn't know what was charging at him or what kind of move it would use. Two large, glowing white eyes blinded him (anyone who has been blinded by high beams understands). He quickly gestured for help and placed the spare shield in front of him.

"Come on! Glowing monster! Come and fight me!"

The priest of Lamashu secretly cast the Chaos Hammer spell, a whirlwind of chaotic energy with barbed blades striking Zhao Mai's car. "THE·CHE" was unscathed, and Zhao Mai didn't even have time to turn on the wipers before driving over. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, the gas pedal pressed to the floor, the roar of the turbo and engine the most exhilarating battle cry.

The speedometer had already hit 120 km/h, and driving at this speed off-road was very bumpy. This speed also exceeded Ranger Karl's tolerance. He lifted his feet to the glove compartment, one hand gripping the handle above the window, the other on Zhao Mai's shoulder. "Hey! Too fast! Too fast!"

The reserve food had already slipped from the back seat, hugging its head and lying under the seat.

A drop of sweat rolled down Soker's forehead, down his nose, and to his mouth. Sweat was salty, much like blood. He tapped the spare shield with his serrated knife, feeling no vibration. This shield would protect him as always, no impact could penetrate it!

"Come on! Glowing monster! Come at me!"

Zhao Mai drove and crashed into the half-orc, turning him into a spinning iron ball in the sky.

A pillar of fire descended from the sky, striking the car. The priest of Lamashu gritted his teeth and cast Flame Strike, almost his strongest offensive spell. Unexpectedly, the monster that had just thrown "General Soker" was still unharmed, barely slowing down as it continued to charge through the dust and smoke toward the half-orc.

Soker was dazed, his left arm holding the shield broken, possibly with multiple fractures in his shoulder and ribs. He didn't know why his usually reliable shield failed to protect him. His vision spun, the sky and ground constantly changing positions. The only constant was the pair of glowing eyes, getting closer and closer.

Zhao Mai chased after him and crashed into him again.
