Chapter 2 : Enchanted Vessel’s Raw Materials

After returning to Romburgh city, we decided to sell off the Gold Maimai’s battle bone which was kept by Mani as well as the battle bones we got from this expedition.

And then, we pawned the Storm Wolf’s battle bone, one of Fedor’s 《Wind Dominator’s Spear; Hail》 material in one of the general stores in the slums so that it couldn’t be tracked so easily.

Though I think it was okay to sell them in a normal general store since Storm Wolf itself isn’t that rare, the problem was the member of the army I met in the labyrinth at that time.

Storm Wolf was placed amongst the upper tier demon beast of C rank, it wasn’t the kind of demon beast that Edda and I could beat at our level.

Though not as powerful as Fedor, I knew that Storm Wolf was at least more powerful than 《Mineral’s Demon; Solus》.

Selling that battle bone in the adventurer’s guild would undoubtedly leave a note of transaction.

… Though I ended up with less money if I compared the general store’s buying price with the adventurer’s guild buying price, I couldn’t think of any safer solution than that.

The battle bone I got from my expedition with Edda in 《Den of Battle Rat》, all of it was sold for 110k temis, Gold Maimai’s battle bone was sold for 120k temis, and the Storm Wolf’s battle bone was sold for 220k temis.

The grand total was 450k temis.

「We barely gathered enough money huh…」

I muttered so while counting the money we got.

「We did get the money but, shouldn’t you save some battle bones or the demon core?」

Edda followed me for the sake of field study in the city.

Surely, seeing that the battle bone and demon core price was stable, we shouldn’t sell expensive items carelessly since the price for redeeming it would be higher than its selling price.

But, that’s only when I’m not in need for money.

「The supply of enchanted vessels is vital for the adventurer after all. One ability of an enchanted vessel might save you from peril. Seeing that our goal is to make more money, I want Mani to be fully prepared with a suitable enchanted vessel if we want to hire her as our porter.」

Mani’s 《Flame Hammer; Kaguna》was a smithing tool, it wasn’t built for combat or mining, that’s why I wanted her to have an enchanted hammer specialized for combat.

In this way, it would be safer to take Mani with us into a demon labyrinth with her equipped with a combat purpose enchanted hammer.

Though I wanted to hide this matter from Mani to give her a surprise, Mani had figured out on her own after I casually mentioned the things related to blacksmith’s enchanted vessel.

Edda and I were strolling along the long line of bustling shops to visit, 《Nyarum’s Tail》, a general store for miscellaneous goods where we’re going to sell the battle bone, 《Mithril’s Pot》, metal specialist which have a connection with smithery, and lastly 《Temple of Lost Item》, a place to wholesale smashed vessel.

And then, we accomplished our goal to purchase Badon(Battle Copper) which has the property to allow the fighting spirit to pass through easily. It’s a common metal which is relatively easy to manufacture despite being C tier metal for 200k temis, and Ogre’s battle bone, a demon beast of C rank for 260k temis.

Any kind of combat oriented enchanted vessel made with those materials would surely give a large status correction for its user’s fighting spirit.

In addition, Mani spoke with fiery passion that if possible, she would like to buy those two materials.

But… This high spending in one day to purchase materials was a first time experience for me.

『Dean… are those metals tasty?』

Beelzebub spoke with a vexed voice in my mind.

I wish she would stop saying such scary words when a large amount of money was used to buy the metal.

I mean, was she really one of the Archdevil? the supreme ruler of Orgol.

「H-How about I make that Meitou(Tomato) dish like the one you ate before? This Enchanted vessel is directly related to our survival after all.」

I whispered to Beelzebub.

This was the moment when one of the rulers of seven deadly sins was bribed with meitou(tomato) which sold for 40 temis each.

As expected of the cheap, tasty, and healthy Meitou(tomato)-sama, truly a friend of the common masses which taste delicious whether you boil, bake, or eat it raw.

… Was Orgol really okay with this kind of ruler?

After that, we went to Mani’s smithery, we gave her 《Mineral’s Demon; Solus》’ demon core, Ogre’s battle bone, and Badon(Battle Copper) to Mani.

「A-Are you sure about this? I do say that I want these materials, and surely can make a fine enchanted hammer with it but…」

Mani’s eyes sparkled as she spoke to me.

《Mineral’s Demon; Solus》’ demon core was definitely the most suitable one for an enchanted hammer since Solus was a devil which specialized in alchemy.

「Mani, will you come with us to explore the labyrinth after you have made a new enchanted vessel? I mean, you want to raise your level to increase your proficiency as a blacksmith too, right?」

Moreover… as I gain more levels, it’ll be harder for me to fight against opponents with 《Demon Eater Sword; Beelzera》’s status correction.

And to upgrade my weapon, I had no choice but to dismantle it first, and reforge it with another metal and battle bone on Beelzebub’s demon core.

But, the most Mani could do at her current level was forging C-tier enchanted vessel.

「N-not as vanguard, right?」

「We’ll employ you as a porter and give you a handsome payment but, please get along with Edda… In addition, you’re the one who crafted this sword for me after all.」

When I told her so, Edda who stood behind me heaved a sigh.

「… I understand that you’re trying to show off but, this guy is actually borrowing 250k temis from me. But of course, I agreed to lend him my money since it guarantees a porter for us.」

「Urgh…」

…. That 250k temis was coming from Mouse(battle rat)’s battle bone, Solus’ demon core, and the remuneration from the latest expedition in 《Den of Battle Rat》.

Naturally, we agreed beforehand to split the profit from selling Fedor’s weapon and Solus’ demon core between the two of us.

Since the present for Mani was on me, I promised Edda to pay her share later.

「Dean… you’re now hiding the fact you’re borrowing money from another woman from me? You should know that it is almost the same as letting them know your weakness right?」

「Yes… ma’am.」

「You… are so used to borrowing money, huh…」

Edda looked at me with a cramped face.

I might have long since died or resorted to thievery if Mani didn’t lend her money.
