Neither Duke nor Auriel knew that after they left, a third group of people found the wild boar.
"Isn't this the 'Prince'?" a servant exclaimed in surprise.
"Prince?" A young man dressed like a noble snorted disdainfully.
The servant immediately bowed low, "Uh, my esteemed master, it's just a nickname. The Blackwell family has a prize-winning pig named 'Princess.' This sow is enormous and often sneaks into Stonefield's farm to steal vegetables! This Princess somehow mated with an even larger and more dangerous wild boar, and three farmers have already been killed by this boar. Therefore, the boar is called 'Prince' in the bounty notice!"
The young noble's interest was piqued.
"Hmm? If I bring this 'Prince' back, won't it enhance my reputation?"
The servants, all sycophants, immediately understood.
The current king is a very wise man. To maintain the nobles' ambition, he established a strict rule that noble heirs must earn merit to inherit their father's titles.
Unfortunately, where there are policies, there are countermeasures. In this era without large-scale wars, life is relatively peaceful, and there are few thieves or bandits. The only real enemies of humans are the beasts, monsters, and demi-human races that roam the land.
To expand their territory, humans must seize land from other creatures and open new territories. Therefore, killing the monsters listed in the bounty notices also counts as merit.
"Exactly, exactly. If you use your magic to kill this 'Prince' from the town's top bounty, you will surely win the favor of the Viscount."
Seeing the servants' compliance, the young noble smiled smugly.
Duke was completely unaware of the series of events unfolding behind him.
He was still struggling to survive. After finally crawling out of the slightly turbulent river, he was shocked to find himself washed quite far downstream.
Lying on the riverbank, he panted heavily, feeling the warmth of the sun on his back.
The system suddenly spoke, "Dear host, I, the system spirit, feel it is my duty to remind you. Given your physical condition, the probability of catching a cold is 68.3%."
Duke gritted his teeth and finally acknowledged it.
He almost struggled to take off his rough linen clothes and pants, then collapsed on a relatively dry large rock by the river, lying there like a dead dog.
This is terrible; it turns out that time travel is both a physical and a technical job.
Such a primitive natural environment is indeed very challenging for a college student who complains about the hardships of military training.
His mind was a mess as Duke recalled everything about the Azeroth world.
He suddenly smiled bitterly, thinking that before his time travel, he had complained about being born into a difficult mode. Compared to Azeroth, that didn't even count as the gates of hell. There is a saying that in any war, few people live past 40.
Holding his forehead, Duke muttered to himself, "The information is still too limited. The only thing I know is that if Auriel is still around, this must be a very early time in Azeroth. In the World of Warcraft, Auriel should have disappeared after the expedition to Outland with Turalyon, where she was besieged and went missing."
Finally, after catching his breath, Duke stood up, put on his clothes, and looked around. He finally found what he was looking for—smoke from a fire.
Where there is fire, there are people... well, at least humanoid beings.
With hope and trepidation, Duke walked toward the place where the smoke was rising.
After about half an hour, following the stream downstream, Duke found what he was looking for—a human settlement.
People were coming and going, bustling about.
Ancient brick and wooden houses were adorned with colorful flags, and the air was filled with cheers and laughter.
At the entrance to the town, Duke saw two smiling guards. Their armor was white with blue trim, and their chest armor and shields bore the lion emblem, a typical Stormwind uniform.
Suddenly, Duke let out a long breath, "Phew!"
He felt a sense of relief, at least finding a human town instead of an ogre barbecue.
In the Azeroth world, there was once a powerful human empire called Arathor. However, about 1200 years before the game's history, the Arathor Empire split into seven small kingdoms: Lordaeron, Dalaran, Alterac, Kul Tiras, Gilneas, Stromgarde, and Stormwind.
Stormwind is the starting area for all human players in the game.
Duke didn't know if the history here was the same, but it seemed there wasn't much difference.
"Hey, kid, are you here for the initiation trial? You don't look like you could be a Stormwind guard. Hahaha!" The guard on the left teased Duke very straightforwardly.
"Maybe he's a hunter and can be an archer?" The guard on the right also laughed.
"No, no, look at his soft hands. Maybe he's a noble mage! Hahaha!"
Duke didn't know what profession he could take up, but he knew that if he did nothing, he would eventually die and become a ghoul in this world of war and destruction.
But... no matter how down and out I am, it's not your place to mock me, you two clowns!
Just as Duke was about to punch these two, an officer with golden eyebrows, a square face, and a large sword at his waist arrived.
"Enough! Shut up, you two idiots."
Seeing their superior, the two guards immediately shut up and stood at attention, a bead of cold sweat trickling down their cheeks.
The officer turned to Duke with a gentle smile, "A person's nobility depends on whether you or your ancestors have contributed to the prosperity of humanity. Advancing to a profession and joining the elite is good, but if you fail, don't be discouraged. Stormwind's prosperity needs talents from all walks of life. Young man, do you agree with me?"
"Uh, yes."
The officer extended his hand to Duke, "I'm Vary, the deputy captain."
"Duke." Duke also extended his hand to shake Vary's, and then his palm received 100 points of critical damage...
Damn! This guy has a strong grip!
"Alright, Duke, welcome to the Northshire Abbey training ground. I hope you can become a professional, and I sincerely hope that humanity will have more elites."
And so, Duke entered.
Vary watched Duke's back and stroked his chin, "This young man is not cut out to be a warrior."
