After entering, Duke was a bit dazed.
Just like in the World of Warcraft, there were several recruitment points for different professions.
However, this was completely different from a 3D game; it was a real world.
The Warrior recruitment point had the most people. Looking at the Warrior examiners and the candidates, all of them had arms thicker than Duke’s thighs, Duke knew he had no chance.
Is this a gathering of devilish muscle men?
"Rage! To become a Warrior, you must first sense rage! Not the anger from someone stabbing your butt, but the kind of rage that transforms into energy, a tangible rage!" the examiner shouted loudly.
Duke pondered: Rage? Does having a heart full of anger count as rage?
The Hunter exam was also beyond Duke’s capabilities. Shooting an apple 30 yards away with a bow and arrow? These days, who among college students has ever touched a bow and arrow except for those in sports schools?
The Thief profession was also unreliable, testing agility. It required crossing a river about ten meters wide by stepping on three small stones of varying distances, similar to the Lingbo Step.
Surprisingly, several people actually managed to do it. In Duke’s previous world, such people could win big prizes on water park TV shows!
But this was just the beginner Thief’s entry trial!?
At this moment, Duke’s mind was filled with thoughts.
Even though he knew a lot about the future direction of Azeroth, it was of no use. If his status was low, no one would listen to him. At least he needed to achieve a high position, but blending into this world, which was somewhat like medieval Europe, was not an easy task!
Suddenly, a commotion arose, and Duke seemed to hear the crowd cheering: "Salute Sir Brando for ridding the people of the vicious boar 'Prince.'"
The crowd was in an uproar.
The young man from out of town was still a bit dazed, but all the locals rushed over, offering the most solemn blessings to the nobleman surrounded in the crowd.
There were too many people, and Duke couldn’t see what the nobleman looked like, but he could see the boar skin held high by four servants on a wooden frame.
As if struck by lightning, Duke’s head went numb.
Wasn’t this the boar that had killed him not long ago, the one he lured to Aurelia and she killed with a magnificent three-arrows-at-once shot?
"A noble Sir Brando, how did you kill this vicious giant boar?" someone in the crowd asked loudly.
Immediately, Duke heard a sharp male voice: "Hahaha! I am a once-in-a-century magic prodigy. A mere boar, I killed it with a single Fireball spell."
Someone immediately chimed in: "Right! Right! Sir Brando is a magic prodigy! He has already passed the magic trial and become a member of the Stormwind Royal Magic Academy!"
"Praise Sir Brando." The crowd shouted in unison.
I’ve seen shameless, but never this shameless!
Such a brazen act of taking credit made Duke almost explode with anger: This boar that killed me was clearly killed by the great demon Aurelia. What does it have to do with you, this damn noble?
Logically, a man should be able to stretch and shrink like a little brother in his pants. But Duke just couldn’t swallow this.
The uncontrollable anger in his heart made him blurt out: "Sir Brando’s Fireball spell is truly amazing! Two Fireball spells shot into 'Prince’s' eyes like arrows, and one hit 'Prince’s' throat, all fatal wounds! Look, there’s not a single burn mark on 'Prince’s' skin. Sir Brando is so amazing—"
As soon as Duke spoke, the entire scene fell silent.
Everyone’s necks seemed to turn into rusty machines, and they struggled to turn their heads to look at the nearly perfect boar skin.
Most of the crowd was ignorant, blindly worshiping the powerful men who used mysterious forces, but if they thought about it, they would realize why a Fireball spell wouldn’t burn the boar’s skin.
In fact, such a clumsy act of taking credit wasn’t unnoticed. But it was common for noble children to take credit, and people with a bit of sense chose to remain silent, as deceiving ignorant subjects wasn’t a sin.
But Duke, the hothead, had exposed the truth, and now there was no way to back down.
"You... you... what are you saying? You, a mere commoner, are accusing me, Sir Brando, who has the blood of Emperor Thaldorin, of lying and taking credit?"
The crowd suddenly parted like a tidal wave, revealing the main character Duke had pushed to the forefront—a young man with a sharp face and a cold expression, his blond hair contrasting with his angry eyes as he glared at Duke.
Emperor Thaldorin was the founder of the Arathor Empire. Claiming to have his blood was a common way for nobles to embellish their status. The only person truly recognized by the nobles as having Thaldorin’s blood was named Anduin Lothar.
Actually, when Duke spoke, he had already thought about running away. He knew this was a bit childish, but saying it out loud had relieved a lot of his anger.
What is youth? Youth is full of passion.
Duke also smiled, looking fearlessly at the young noble named Brando: "No, I just wanted to see how the great once-in-a-century magic prodigy, Sir Brando, could cast a Fireball spell as small as an arrow and still have it be so powerful that it instantly killed such a large boar."
Brando, of course, couldn’t do it. If he could, he would at least be a high-level mage. His sharp face turned a deep red, and he almost screamed: "Commoner, you, who aren’t even a professional, have no right to question me!"
At this moment, Deputy Captain Vieri, who had helped Duke earlier, appeared nearby and whispered: "Sorry, Duke, commoners have no right to question any actions of the nobles, as the subjects are the property of the lord. I don’t know where you’re from or why your parents didn’t tell you about the common laws of this human kingdom. But I must warn you, rashly offending a noble is not a wise move."
Duke trembled and asked in a low voice: "Are you telling me to submit to that bastard?"
Deputy Captain Vieri’s eyes dimmed: "Child, honesty is a rare and precious virtue. I don’t want to discourage you, but the fact is—outside Northshire Abbey, I can’t guarantee your safety. And Brando has both the status of a noble and a magic apprentice, so even ordinary nobles wouldn’t choose to oppose him."
