Prologue

“Do you want to be friends with me?”

My heart raced wildly under the gaze of the top-tier beauty in our city, who scanned me as if with a critical eye.

The emotion that flickered in her eyes as she looked at me was close to disdain.

I was certain she was thinking something along the lines of, "Hmph, what about you?" But that was okay.

Why? Because she was a beauty.

Cuteness is justice, and beauty is a pardon.

Looking at her face, I felt a warmth of mercy welling up in my heart, something I didn't even know I had.

After a moment of contemplation, she said to me with a playful expression, “Alright. Let's be friends.”

“By the way, I completely forgot to bring dessert today.”

“A special macaron from the cafeteria would be just perfect...”

“Can you buy that for me?”

“Of course, because we are...”

“[Friends], right?”

Just to be clear, I'm not a pushover.

I was fully aware that this girl was only calling me a friend in name and was actually trying to use me as a bread shuttle.

Would I have any reason to buy this girl such expensive macarons just because she calls me a friend?

I was more rational than ever at that moment.

I doubt even Sherlock Holmes, the epitome of rational thinking, could match my level of rationality.

After thinking so coldly, objectively, and rationally—

I became friends with her.

No matter how I think about it, it's a great deal.
