The rain poured down outside without stopping.
Xu Jianxing lay on the ground, foaming at the mouth, his body flickering with electric sparks, emitting a burnt smell.
"Hehe..."
Suddenly, a playful laugh echoed around, as melodious as a skylark. Immediately after, a ring emitting a seven-colored glow slowly appeared on Xu Jianxing's forehead. The light was as enchanting as a rainbow after the rain.
When the ring floated about a meter above Xu Jianxing's forehead, the seven-colored light spread out, enveloping his entire body, flowing continuously.
Under the baptism of this light, the pain on Xu Jianxing's face gradually turned into a peaceful expression, like that of a sleeping infant.
After a short while, the seven-colored light completely enveloped Xu Jianxing's body, tightly like a cocoon, making it impossible to see anything inside.
About ten minutes passed.
The seven-colored light suddenly disappeared, as if it had never been there. The magical ring also became dull, as if it had lost its power, and slowly sank back into Xu Jianxing's forehead.
At this moment, Xu Jianxing's face was covered with spots of dirt, emitting an indescribable foul smell.
Under this foul smell, Xu Jianxing woke up after a short while. Before he even opened his eyes, he covered his nose and said involuntarily, "What smell, so foul."
Then, his mind started to work again, and he suddenly opened his eyes, filled with a huge question mark, "What happened? What happened? Didn't I just get electrocuted?"
"Huh, why doesn't my body hurt at all?" Xu Jianxing was suddenly stunned, and then he quickly got up and started to feel all over his body.
"Ah!"
He had barely touched his body a couple of times when he saw the spots of dirt on his arms and let out an instinctive cry.
"What happened? What happened?"
Confused emotions swirled in Xu Jianxing's mind.
After a moment, Xu Jianxing's eyes suddenly lit up as if he remembered something. He quickly lowered his arm from his nose, ignoring the foul smell, and rubbed his body vigorously with his hands. He immediately noticed that his skin felt as smooth as premium jade.
"Refining the skin and washing the marrow?!!"
Xu Jianxing's eyes widened, his heart pounding. Having spent six or seven years in the online literature world, he naturally knew some plot elements from novels, but he couldn't understand how he had been indirectly struck by lightning and not only survived but also exhibited the characteristics of refining the skin and washing the marrow.
Unable to figure it out, he decided not to think about it anymore. The most pressing matter was to clean the dirt off his body. As for the completely burned-out computer, he no longer cared.
Glancing at the heavy rain outside, Xu Jianxing rushed out. But as soon as he took a step, he noticed something different. With just one step, he felt as if he had covered the distance of two steps before, and he could feel a strong vitality in every cell of his body.
"Did I become a superman?!!"
Xu Jianxing felt overwhelmed by a huge sense of joy, his excitement indescribable. He sprinted into the rain, his speed like that of a cheetah, making him laugh wildly.
The foul smell was quickly washed away by the rain, leaving no trace. However, the rain was not as effective as the sea for cleaning.
After a while of excitement, he took off his shorts and ran into the sea, swimming joyfully.
From this experience, he knew that not only had his speed changed, but his nervous system, visual system, and other systems had all undergone significant changes, allowing him to adapt so quickly.
Moreover, after swimming in the sea, he became even more certain of his changes. His swimming speed was almost twice as fast as before.
"Let's see how long I can hold my breath underwater."
Xu Jianxing thought, and his body sank into the water.
One minute...
Two minutes...
Five minutes...
It took eight minutes before Xu Jianxing started to feel a bit uncomfortable, and his head suddenly shot out of the water.
Normally, an ordinary person can hold their breath for 3-4 minutes with some practice, and with some professional training, he could easily hold his breath for four minutes.
Now, he felt the same discomfort after eight minutes, which meant that his body's various indicators had indeed increased by about twice.
"Great, very great."
Xu Jianxing felt another wave of joy. Inspired, he dove underwater to see how deep he could go.
10 meters...
20 meters...
50 meters...
He stopped at about 90 meters. Although he didn't feel uncomfortable, he was close to the world record of over 110 meters without equipment, and he didn't want to risk an accident at the start of his new life.
Without much thought, Xu Jianxing started to swim back to the surface. But before he swam a few strokes, he suddenly felt a warm current rise within him. This current flowed into his limbs and veins, nourishing his body, making him feel extremely comfortable.
Feeling the changes in his body, Xu Jianxing was shocked. As he swam back to the surface, he focused on the current within him. With his enhanced nervous system, he sensitively noticed that his body seemed to have undergone a slight change, though very small, it was still changing.
After pondering for a long time, he still couldn't figure out what was happening. When he reached the beach, he was still puzzled.
Suddenly, he remembered something, "Right, the warm current only appeared when I was deep underwater and started to swim back to the surface. I'll rest for a while and try again."
After a short rest, Xu Jianxing dived back into the sea, reaching the same depth as before, and started to swim back to the surface. Unfortunately, this time no warm current appeared.
"What's going on? Is the method wrong? But it definitely happened just now." Xu Jianxing pondered. After a moment, he returned to the shore to rest, then dived back into the water, testing how deep he could go.
This time he dived to 100 meters. No change.
The next time he dived to 110 meters. Still no change.
"Damn it, I'm not going to test anymore." Xu Jianxing was furious, and his body was also tired.
He came to the shore, picked up his shorts, and walked back to his small wooden house. He threw the shorts into the trash can, found a clean towel to wipe his body, and when he accidentally saw his reflection in the small mirror, he was stunned again.
Although his appearance was the same, his skin had become much whiter, almost like his college days. The only difference was that his skin now had a luster, not the slightly pale look from college.
"Finished, finished. I can't do this job anymore. If others find out, how can I explain it? I might be treated like a lab rat. Better to leave as soon as possible."
Xu Jianxing was a decisive person. He quickly changed into a set of sportswear and started to pack his things. By the time he finished, the rain had lessened.
He tidied up the burnt computer, picked up the garbage bag from the trash can, and threw it into a large bin far from the wooden house.
After everything was in order, he carried his light luggage and held an umbrella, walking out of the beach area to a taxi waiting for passengers, and headed for the eastern part of the city.
Xu Jianxing worked in the western part of the city. He didn't want to run into any acquaintances and cause any unexpected incidents, so he planned to look for a job in the western part of the city.
Originally, Xu Jianxing had studied tourism in college, but the better tourism companies preferred to hire beautiful women, leaving him in a difficult position. He could only drift in Yunhai City, a tourist destination, planning to take things one step at a time.
Sitting in the taxi, Xu Jianxing looked at the late hour and sighed, "Looks like I'll have to find a hotel to stay in tonight. I need to rent a place tomorrow. With the five thousand yuan I have, it's not enough to live in Yunhai."
Although he had graduated nearly a year ago, the cost of living in Yunhai City was high, and he still sent a thousand yuan home every month. He didn't have much savings. His most valuable possession, his computer, was directly destroyed. If it weren't for his good luck, his parents and sister would be very sad.
Thinking of his parents and sister, Xu Jianxing felt a warm feeling in his heart. Although his family wasn't wealthy and could even be considered poor, he was very content to be born into such a warm family. Compared to his peers, he was more mature. His only flaw was his vanity, which was why, despite having three good brothers from college, he had ended up in this situation.
Although he was short of money, Xu Jianxing hadn't considered using his physical abilities, which were twice that of an ordinary person, to make money. After all, if someone else found out, no matter how much money he had, it would be useless. At the very least, he would lose his freedom.
