Chapter 18

A group of noisy people burst into the hotel, even startling the security guards.

The things in Chen Tiandu's room were not many, but there were a lot of drawing papers. They were spread out on the bed, the floor, everywhere.

"Everyone, make yourselves at home. The room is a bit messy, I'll tidy up quickly." Chen Tiandu quickly sorted and organized the stacks of manuscript papers. Mark Damon picked up one casually, his eyes immediately brightening, "Not bad, is this the comic version of 'Saving Private Ryan'? I didn't know you did this?"

"Let me see."

Adam snatched it away; he played Private Stanley Mellish, "What comic? This is a storyboard."

Vin Diesel had been a director before, and he was sensitive to storyboards, so he leaned over, "Wow, your drawing is better than mine, a pretty good storyboard. Looks like you really want to be a director."

Tom Hanks also picked up one casually, his face showing a strange expression, "Is this a shot from 'Saving Private Ryan'?"

Everyone gathered to take a look, all surprised. Because this one was a terrifying image of a ghostly little girl, her face covered in maggots, and her mouth continuously dripping filth, with another child screaming beside her, creating a very eerie atmosphere. If this was also a shot from 'Saving Private Ryan,' it would be quite strange.

"Of course not."

Chen Tiandu finished organizing quickly and took back the manuscript, "This is another script. A supernatural story, I haven't completed it yet, and I plan to use it as my graduation project."

"What's the story about?" Vin Diesel asked casually.

Chen Tiandu was happy to share, "It's about a nine-year-old boy named Cole, who claims he can see the dead, the spirits. A psychologist wants to treat him, but Cole doesn't accept it, believing no one can help him. With Dr. Malcolm's persistent efforts, Cole finally lets his guard down, allowing the doctor to understand his problem and gradually accept his advice. But the ending takes a twist, something you definitely wouldn't expect."

"So mysterious?" Tom Hanks smiled, "Are you done tidying up? Let's go then."

"Alright." Old Chen was still a bit reluctant; if they had asked one more question, he would have told them.

Several cars rushed to the rented neighborhood like a gust of wind, stopping below the small building. They all got out of the cars. Looking around, they were all tall, handsome men, wearing sunglasses, giving off a bit of a gangster vibe... a group of people with a taste for mischief.

Many nearby residents were startled, peeking out their windows and then quickly closing them, afraid of getting involved in trouble.

The small building where Chen Tiandu rented was quite nice, with only three floors, and his apartment was on the top floor. It was a three-bedroom, two-living room apartment, fully furnished. The room was large, with high ceilings and spacious space, and there was even a small attic. Of course, the rent was not cheap. What Chen Tiandu was most pleased about was the large rooftop and rooftop garden, which was very similar to his room in the capital. Not far away was a park, and from the third-floor window, you could see people playing basketball on the court.

The landlady, Mrs. Jenny, was startled by the scene, hesitantly holding the key and not wanting to hand it over to Chen Tiandu, "The contract didn't say anything about subletting, and there are so many of you."

Vin Diesel and the group burst into laughter, with no intention of explaining.

Chen Tiandu explained helplessly, "Mrs. Jenny, we're not bad people. Look, who is this?"

Mrs. Jenny looked suspiciously in the direction he pointed, then paused, rubbing her eyes, "Is that Tom Hanks? Oh my God, am I seeing things?"

The presence of the Oscar-winning actor immediately resolved the situation. Tom Hanks took off his sunglasses with a helpless expression, "Do you need an autograph, ma'am?"

After the introduction, Mrs. Jenny's attitude changed dramatically. She warmly led everyone upstairs, chatting and laughing all the way. The group noisily carried Chen Tiandu's luggage upstairs. Tom Hanks looked around and smiled, "The decoration style is nice, with a touch of a Western European library."

"Yes. This building was designed by my late husband, who used to be a librarian. Unfortunately, he passed away early, and the economy has been bad, so we had to rent it out to make ends meet," Mrs. Jenny explained.

The group also freely commented on his room, "Nice room," "Good lighting," "Great ventilation," "Wow, this rooftop is all yours, what a great place," and so on.

Chen Tiandu helplessly threw his luggage into the bedroom, not planning to tidy up right away. They were eager to drink, so he decided to leave quickly. Just as he was about to call everyone to go, a woman in a nightgown suddenly opened the door and scolded them, "Gentlemen, could you please be quiet? It's very impolite to disturb others' rest."

The noise abruptly stopped, and the big stars looked embarrassed.

Chen Tiandu was also embarrassed, rubbing his nose, "I thought I was the only tenant on this floor... I'm sorry, miss, for disturbing your rest."

Mrs. Jenny, seeing the woman in the nightgown, waved her hand familiarly, "It's fine, she's also a tenant here and is often not at home. Kate, come and meet your new neighbor. You said you're an actress, right? How can you not recognize Mr. Tom Hanks?"

"Tom Hanks, which one?" The woman in the nightgown was indeed surprised, staring wide-eyed at everyone, then her face showed disbelief, "OMG."

Everyone couldn't help but smile; the Oscar-winning actor's fame was indeed powerful.

Tom Hanks couldn't help but feel helpless. Just as he was about to speak, the woman in the nightgown slammed the door and ran back in her slippers.

"..." Everyone was left in a daze.

Mrs. Jenny called out from behind, "Kate, just a reminder, the rent is due soon. Remember to prepare the rent in advance..."

Tom Hanks laughed, "I've never met a fan who reacted like that. Let's go, guys."

So the group moved on to their next destination.

After a while, the woman in the next room finally dressed and came out to greet them, but the floor was already empty.

Amidst the clinking of glasses and the bright lights, the nightlife in America was incomparable to that of the wealthy in China. Old Chen was a bit lost in the fun, but he was missing a girl.

The next day, he didn't know how he managed to crawl back home.

Chen Tiandu didn't wake up until the sun was high in the sky. His head was throbbing, and his throat felt like it was on fire. He hurriedly drank a glass of water, went to the bathroom, took a shower, and then went to the rooftop to box, feeling refreshed again.

"Indeed, I chose a great place, the view is fantastic!"

The rooftop had a small pavilion that shielded him from the not too harsh sunlight. A gentle breeze blew, and the green trees rustled, with the occasional chirping of birds. Working in such a place was truly a pleasure, and it would be even better with some music.

He returned to his room, took his manuscript, and went to the rooftop garden, pulling out his phone and playing Michael Jackson's songs on repeat.

His pen moved like magic, quickly completing one scene after another.

No matter how convenient it was to stay in a hotel, it never felt comfortable because it was a hotel. Only after renting a place did he feel a sense of stability.

A day's work starts in the morning, and he planned to work for half an hour before going down for breakfast and buying a car. He had received his driver's license a few days ago, and several people had already reminded him, "Buy a car, in America, you can't get anywhere without one."

DreamWorks didn't delay in paying the script fees, and his money had already arrived.

With a full wallet, he felt more confident. So, he decided to follow the local custom and buy a car today.

"Hi~"

Just as he was planning, a clear greeting came from behind.

Chen Tiandu turned his head, his eyes brightening.
