The Liberation of the Dungeons.
On that day, people around the world were amazed, rejoiced, and feared.
The amazement was due to the spheres, which appeared suddenly a year ago in various parts of the world and could not be damaged even by nuclear missiles launched in a fit of bloodlust by a certain country, now shaking violently.
The joy that followed was due to the spheres, known as "Barriers," shaking more violently and gradually losing their shape, eventually disappearing.
And the fear was due to what emerged from the Barriers as they lost their shape.
Because what emerged from the Barriers were "fortresses infested with hideous demons," "mountains burning with a force that could pierce the heavens," "towers so tall that their peaks were shrouded in mist," "domes made of ice roses," and "great pits spewing out smoke that could only be called miasma." Among the dungeons that emerged from the Barriers was a "forest shrouded in abnormally dense fog."

"Well, finally the liberation of the dungeons... It's been a long year..."
I, in human form, fondly pet the thin mist wolf while looking at the overview screen of the <<Dungeon Creation>>. To be honest, a whole year is way too long! (For me) I efficiently created the dungeons, and after about six months, there was nothing left to do except train my abilities or play with the thin mist wolf!
So, after a year of work, the current specs of my dungeon are as follows:
--------------
Dungeon Name: Forest of White Mist and Black Swamp
Ruler: Kurokiri (King of the Corrosive Black Mist)
Monsters: Fog, Thin Mist Wolf, Swamp Flying Fish, Water Disturbing Snail, etc.
Overview: A dungeon where the entire area is covered in thick fog (visibility up to about 3 meters) and swamps (average water depth of 50 cm, minimum 10 cm, maximum 2 m). There are also wall-path trees, which are a hybrid of buildings and plants (indestructible objects that can be used as platforms or walls. By the way, the outer walls of the Forest of White Mist and Black Swamp are also made of this material). Some parts of the swamps are also upgraded in aspects other than water depth.
An airlock is installed at the dungeon entrance, limiting the number of people who can enter simultaneously to six. For subsequent people to enter, one of the following conditions must be met:
- The people who entered before are completely wiped out.
- The people who entered before are more than 1 km away from the entrance and have been inside for more than an hour.
To escape, the people who entered must meet one of the following conditions:
- Defeat the ruler.
- Be more than 1 km away from the entrance and have been inside for more than an hour.
Total number of entrants: 0
Total number of defeats: 0
Evaluation: Unknown (no entrants yet)
--------------
Yeah, not bad for a first try, right? The characteristics of the monsters and traps are consistent throughout the dungeon, so I don't think it will be cleared easily. Even if it is, I don't think humans will lose as long as they don't realize the skills.
By the way, the entry limit is also noted at the airlock. Otherwise, people wouldn't understand why they can't enter and would just get frustrated.
By the way, there are treasure chests and such in the dungeon. The contents are things like the thin mist wolf's fur (I wanted something to make a quilt, so I tried summoning just the fur, and it worked. It's as fluffy as a high-end down quilt).
Anyway, in the long life... no, the long life of a demon king, I've set a few goals. Since I don't seem to age due to the demon king bonus, goals are important.
1. Don't die until I want to.
2. Get revenge on the mysterious young girl voice (the one who made me a demon king).
3. Be able to leave the dungeon.
1 is a given. Since I'm immortal, I want to live as long as I can. By the way, due to the demon king bonus, if I beg for my life to a human, it will fail 100%. The hidden skill of the demon king profession is to make the enemy think, "I will definitely kill you!"
2 is, well, you know. Since they ended my life, I want to get a proper revenge.
3 is one of the more troublesome aspects of the demon king bonus. Apparently, demon kings can't leave the dungeon they manage. (Subordinates can leave, but their stats drop significantly). Yeah, not being able to leave is tough. But apparently, if certain conditions are met, I can leave, so there's something to strive for.
So, these are my goals for now. No matter what, I need to level up by dealing with a lot of people. The number of goals might increase in the future, like maxing out my level or putting the surrounding areas under my control.
By the way, I have no qualms about killing people. A year is enough time to make a few resolutions.
Let's get back to the topic.
"Well, with the liberation of the dungeons, the people outside have also awakened to their skills. I wonder what kind of people will be the first to enter...?"
I use the new function of <<Dungeon Creation>> that allows me to see the area outside the dungeon to check the situation outside the barrier for the first time in a year.
"Hmm, as expected... unless something happens, the military will be the first to come. Of course."
The screen showed a large number of fences and pillboxes, I think, set up a few hundred meters away from the barrier. Most of the houses that used to be there are gone.
And currently, many soldiers are gathered around the dungeon, watching us warily.
"Well, it's a natural response. I would have been happy if they rushed in without thinking, but now we'll just have to wait until they decide to act. If they don't show any intention of coming in after a day, I'll just let some monsters out and force a few humans inside."
So, I decided to wait while petting the thin mist wolf, which had turned into a mist form, all over its body.
"Ah, this is so soothing..."
04/08 I revised the first character of the first line.
06/10 I revised some parts.
