Chapter 4 of 100
Chapter 4

Staring blankly, I watched the clouds slowly drift across the blue sky. This scenery is no different from where I used to be. It's peaceful.
On the contrary, the more I look at the surrounding ecosystem, the more I realize it's nothing like where I used to be.
There are actually two suns, one big and one small, but I pretend not to notice.
If my memory serves me right, I apparently died for a rather foolish reason and even reincarnated. To call it a trip to another world would be a stretch, given the circumstances.
Colliding with a utility pole and disappearing, with the added twist of time reversal—what kind of sci-fi is this? For someone as foolish as me, it's not just a backhand; it's a punch to the vital spots.
Still, in my world, it's incredibly dangerous for a small child to be alone in such a nature-filled environment.
I hope it's just a lost child.
But, it's also possible that the child's spirit couldn't handle a significant shock and 'I' as a personality resurfaced. Or maybe I possessed the body of a child who just died?
What is this? Even though I thought of it myself, it's seriously intense either way.
However, the golden bracelets on both wrists have the name 'Yuri' engraved on them, which seems to be almost the same. Though the letters are in a script I don't know, I can read them, so I'll let it slide.
...It's not a joke I planned.
Honestly, the more I think about the current situation, the more dangerous it seems. One wrong move could cost me my life.
After all, I have no idea about the ecosystem here.
First, I can't tell what's edible. Last time was just a lucky coincidence, and I'll probably run out of food soon. I'd rather avoid poison.
Second, it's bad enough that I can't tell the difference between herbivores and carnivores. If a carnivore shows up, I'll be eaten.
And the final blow is when the sun sets. The danger will definitely increase, but I have no way to gauge the level of danger. There are probably a lot of nocturnal animals.
Can someone who grew up in modern Japan survive without fire?
But I don't want to die easily. I have no suicidal tendencies.
It's a reality that makes me feel down, but I can't give up so easily.
After all, there must be many delicious things I haven't tried yet. I finally became a competent chef and can create flavors to my liking.
If this is another world, with this unknown ecosystem, there must be even more delicious things.
Moreover, with a young, healthy body, I have plenty of time. I can't die, can I?
Am I being a glutton? It's a compliment. Thank you very much.
While I'm lost in thought, the clouds continue to drift, and the sun moves west (or so I assume).
I can't bring myself to move, so I focus on recovering and conserving my energy for the night.
"...I'm hungry."
Hugging my knees and my rumbling stomach, I muttered.
It's been almost half a day, but there's no sign of anyone. The loneliness that usually doesn't bother me is probably due to my anxiety.
The sky is turning orange with the sunset, and night is approaching.
...I want some orange jelly with lots of pulp. Ah, I'm drooling just thinking about it. *licks lips*.
Is this some kind of punishment for my thoughts?
"Wait a minute. That's dangerous!"
As the sky turned from orange to deep blue, a presence appeared almost simultaneously.
Even without night vision, I can tell it's dangerous at first glance.
It's much smaller than the creatures I know from movies, but it's big enough for me. Its eyes glow brightly in the dark, looking at me,
"Ha ha ha ha..."
It's a dry laugh, but I can only laugh at this existence,
A dinosaur-like creature☆
Moreover, the probability of being recognized as prey is almost 100%!
My stamina is at the bottom.
My body is small and my running speed is not reliable.
I have no weapons.
My brain, focused on eating, is not up to the task of avoiding being eaten.
What kind of impossible game is this to break the death flag!?
Ah, it's dangerous. It's coming closer, ready to eat me.
"Yay!"
What is this cry, devoid of any cuteness and full of foolishness... Oh, it's me.
I started running, but I'm being chased, right? I can hear the thudding footsteps and the cracking of branches. If I get caught, the sound of my bones being crushed will be the same, I know.
From the foolish memories to this, is it already over? Too soon!
Ah, I'm already out of breath. My heart is pounding in every sense.
Someone, save me!!
I'm running zigzag, but,
"It's impossible! I'm so hungry, Mr. Dinosaur."
It's dark and scary, and I might trip!
And someone, please tell me that the one I see ahead is a lie!
I'm running out of energy...
"~~~!!"
I can't do it anymore, I'm going to be eaten.
"---"
Just before I lose consciousness from lack of oxygen and fear, I thought I saw a glimmer of something.
