Chapter 25

After resuming the collection, after a while, Erika and Leonora stood up.
"Done... "
"My back hurts..."
Erika raised both arms and stretched her body, while Leonora patted her lower back.
"Good work. Shall we go back?"
"Sure."
"Ah, I want to take a bath."
You must be tired...
"Take a bath when we get back. It's fine even during working hours."
Thoughtful, very thoughtful.
"Thank you!"
"Sieghart is a good guy. Not a domineering husband, huh?"
"Sure, sure. Let's go back."
We quickly left the forest and headed for the gate.
"Sieghart, what was that magic earlier?"
As we walked, Leonora asked.
"Magic? The Aerial Drive? That's intermediate-level wind magic."
By the way, the scene was shocking, so I decided to seal it.
"No, I mean the one that shot the orc's legs."
"Oh, I was also curious about that. What is it?"
Erika seemed curious too.
Well, there are no guns in this world.
"That's more of a magical tool. I made it for self-defense when I couldn't use magic properly. It's a groundbreaking weapon that fires a laser when infused with magic power."
In other words, it doesn't need bullets.
I got excited thinking about having infinite ammo.
"What is it? Show me, show me."
"Here."
Leonora tugged at my sleeve, so I took out the magic gun and handed it to her.
"Hmm..."
Leonora examined it closely.
"Don't point it at anyone. You could die if it goes off accidentally."
"Can I use it too?"
"Sure, you just need to infuse it with magic power. Even an alchemist who can't use attack magic can use it."
Impressive, right?
"Wow... That's amazing. You should sell it to the military. You could make a fortune."
"I don't want to be a merchant of death. I don't want to be responsible for many people dying because of something I made."
That's a joke.
"You're right... With this, even we could use attack magic. This is a bit problematic. What's problematic is that we might end up being deployed in actual combat if we're not careful."
"Ugh... I became an alchemist to avoid that kind of thing."
I don't like it either.
That's why I stopped at a 5th-class magic certification.
I could easily get a 3rd-class, but if I did, they might push me to become a full-fledged magician.
"This is for personal use. Don't tell anyone about this magic gun."
"Absolutely not."
"We won't tell anyone."
These two are fine.
Their positions would be at risk too, and most importantly, I trust them.
"Hmm?"
They are indeed easy to understand, but trust...
"What's wrong?"
"Is something bothering you? Is it another monster?"
"No, nothing."
I was just wrong to think I could trust others.
We returned to town, passed through the gate, and went back to the branch office.
"Phew, I'm tired. It's been a while since I moved my body."
"Desk work, so we don't move at all."
I can't say much, but it's unhealthy.
"You guys, go take a bath. I'll extract the mana."
"Are you sure?"
"Sieghart, aren't you going to wash off the sweat?"
What can I say about sweat...
"No, I just stood there... Go ahead without worrying. Oh, give me the bag."
"Here you go. We'll be back."
"Thanks."
The two placed the bag on my desk and went home, so I took out the magic herbs from the bag and started the process of extracting mana.
"Alright..."
I took one magic herb and put it in a small bottle.
Then, after synthesizing it, it turned into a red liquid.
This is the raw mana, and I removed the impurities from it.
Mixing it with a regular potion made from herbs would create a mana potion.
"Hmm? Do we have any herbs in stock?"
"Let's check."
I went up the stairs with Helen to the warehouse.
As usual, it was mostly empty, but I looked at the shelves.
"Hmm..."
"Is there any?"
"Ah, there are some dried ones."
There were bundles of dried herbs on the shelf to extend their shelf life.
"Is it okay to use dried herbs?"
"They lose a bit of quality, but they should be fine for E-rank potions."
I took the herbs and went back to the second floor.
Sitting down, I resumed the process of extracting mana from the magic herbs.
While occasionally petting Helen, I continued working when Erika and Leonora returned.
"Phew, I feel refreshed."
"My feet and back hurt, though."
The two sat down and said.
"Erika, is it okay to use the dried herbs on the third floor?"
"Sure. They're leftovers from the last potion-making request."
That was the one Erika was working on when I arrived.
"Sieghart, how should we divide the work for the mana potions?"
Leonora asked.
"Leonora, can you make mana potions?"
"I chose this world because I like it. I'm good at it."
In that case... we have other requests too, so it's better to prioritize time.
"I'll extract the mana from the magic herbs. Erika, can you make the potions with the dried herbs? Leonora, can you make the mana potions with those materials?"
"Got it."
"We'll divide the work. Understood."
We decided on our roles and started working.
After extracting the mana from the fourth magic herb and placing it on Leonora's desk, she looked up at me with a bewildered expression.
"Sieghart, isn't your synthesis a bit too fast?"
"This is normal."
"No, it's definitely not normal. Besides, what is this? We collected the magic herbs so carelessly, but you managed to extract such pure mana? This is at least C-rank."
Hmm... Leonora can appraise too.
I should get her to take the certification.
"I'm 3rd-class."
"3rd-class can do this?"
How about that?
I doubt anyone can maintain this speed and precision.
"I have no practical experience, but I could pass the 1st-class exam right now. There's no alchemist in this country better than me."
Probably...
"Such confidence... It's so cool, it's almost annoying."
"Amazing, isn't it?"
Erika, with 100% sincerity, nodded.
"You two don't have to reach this level, but you have the potential to improve a lot. 9th and 8th class should be easy for you."
"I'll try, Master."
"I'll do my best, Master!"
Now I'm a master...
Well, it's better than being a domineering husband.
