Chapter 26 of 100

Chapter 26

4 min read1,021 words

It has been two days since I started making mana potions.

Erika and Leonora are diligently making mana potions, but I finished extracting mana from all the magic herbs yesterday, so from today, I will start making magic swords.

I should probably help them, but I decided to let them do it for their own growth.

"I'm so sleepy in the morning."

"That's just how it is."

After waking up and getting ready, I headed to the branch with Helen.

We arrived in 30 seconds and went up to the second floor.

When I got there, Erika and Leonora were already there, reading alchemy books and studying.

"Good morning."

As I approached, I greeted them.

It's very important.

"Good morning."

"Good morning, sir."

The two of them looked up.

"Huh?"

There was a thin pink envelope on my desk.

"It's from Adelle."

Adelle...

As always, she's quick to reply.

"Should I read it...?"

Since it was still before the start of work, I sat down, opened the envelope, and started reading the letter.

"Hmm..."

"What does it say?"

Helen asked.

"Just small talk..."

About how the food at the restaurant we went to last time was delicious, and how the tea at the café smelled good...

"Is that so... What about work? Didn't you ask about that?"

"It just says she's working hard as usual."

I thought it might be full of complaints, but there was nothing like that.

"Hmm? That's all?"

"Yeah. Just small talk. And this time, there are no questions."

Maybe I don't need to reply.

"Did you upset her or something?"

"Why would I? I didn't write anything that would upset her."

I thought it through carefully.

"Hmm, I wonder... What do you think about replying?"

"I don't think it's necessary. I'll just send a seasonal greeting letter or something."

That's enough.

"Um... Erika, what do you think?"

Helen asked Erika.

"Hmm, I don't know Adelle... But I think sending a seasonal letter, as Sieg suggested, is fine. What do you think, Leonora?"

"I think that's fine too. Just to confirm, there's no romance, right?"

Leonora asked.

"No, there isn't. As I said before, we're not even sure if we're friends."

"Then it's fine, isn't it? If you're worried, why don't you call her?"

"No, that's fine."

Calling is a bit too much.

To be honest, I don't know what to talk about with Adelle, who's a minefield.

It's my fault, though.

"I thought Adelle definitely had a crush on you, Sieg."

No way.

If she did, her taste in men would be seriously questionable.

"Let's put Adelle aside for now. Let's get to work."

"Right. It's an urgent request, so that's a priority."

"Let's do our best."

We started work when it was time.

We continued working all day, each of us focusing on our tasks.

By evening, it was time to finish work.

"That's it for today. How are you all doing?"

"At this pace, we should finish within 10 days, which is when the bonus is due."

"Right. With Sieg extracting the mana and Leonora and I splitting the work, we should be able to finish on time."

It's going well.

"Let's call it a day and go home."

"Right. I'm hungry."

"Me too."

We tidied up and left the branch, arriving at the dormitory apartment in 30 seconds.

"Really, it's so convenient."

"It's so fast that you can even take a shower during work hours."

Indeed.

"Both of you, come over in 30 minutes."

"Got it."

"Thanks always."

We dispersed and went to our respective rooms.

After taking a short break, 30 minutes passed, and I headed to Erika's room.

When I got there, Leonora was already at the table.

Leonora wasn't wearing her usual triangular hat and was massaging her thighs.

"Does it hurt that much?"

I asked as I sat down across from Leonora.

"I guess I'm out of shape. The short commute is nice, but I don't walk much because of it."

That's true.

Our work is almost entirely desk-based, and we hardly walk at all.

"Alright, let's take some vitamin supplements."

I said, placing a tablet on the table.

"What's that? Medicine?"

"It's a supplement. I use it to make up for the nutrients I lack. This vitamin helps with fatigue recovery and other things."

"Wow... You make all sorts of things, don't you?"

Leonora said, picking up the vitamin and swallowing it with tea.

"Sure. Oh, Erika, here you go."

I took a blender out of a spatial magic storage and placed it on the table.

Erika, who was in the kitchen, came over.

"What's this?"

"The blender I mentioned before. Helen said she wants to drink pumpkin soup, so make it."

Refusing is not an option.

"I have pumpkin, but... Sieg, you really prioritize Helen, don't you?"

"What can I do? She's so cute."

She wakes me up in the morning with "nya, nya."

"Well... How do I use this?"

Erika picked up the blender, a bit exasperated.

"I'll show you."

Helen climbed onto Erika's body skillfully, perched on her shoulder, and Erika returned to the kitchen.

"What a cute kitty."

"Right?"

"Yeah. By the way, I took the vitamin, but the pain hasn't gone away."

"Of course not."

"It's a nutritional supplement, not a painkiller. It works the next day. If you want a painkiller, you can drink a potion."

"Is that so... Will it be useful?"

"Nutritional balance is important. It's fine when you're young, but in the future, your skin might break out or you might gain weight. We do stressful desk work, so it's dangerous."

"Hmm..."

While we were waiting, the food was ready, and we all ate together.

Of course, there was pumpkin soup, and Helen was drinking it happily.

Leonora and Erika also asked for supplements, so I gave them some.

They must have been listening to our conversation.

Even though they said they didn't need them because they were scared...
