Muyang returned to the modern era once again, ran to the mall outside, and bought a set of body-shaping clothes, the kind that fully wraps the body. Then he bought a cheap, outdated set of women's clothing, a black wool coat that was perfect for the current weather, for only 150 yuan. The store even included a white lady's small-brimmed hat, which was part of the set.
He then went to a cosmetics store and bought the most basic set of women's cosmetics, the kind that can instantly transform a woman into another person, an essential tool for women. The price was not high; lipstick, foundation, and highlighter all together cost just 35 yuan, definitely a mainland product.
He also bought a bottle of perfume, mainly to cover up the blood and medicine smell on the woman.
After returning to the inn, he brought the large and small packages into the bedroom and asked the woman, "Can you move? Do you need me to help you put them on?"
The woman was taken aback by the amount of things Muyang had brought. If she were a modern person, she would have asked, "Are you Doraemon?"
"I can do it myself, no need for your help," the woman replied. Although she was only wearing her undergarments, having a man help her change still made her feel uncomfortable.
"These are body-shaping clothes. Wearing them will tightly wrap your body, so when you move around, it won't affect your wounds, and you won't have to worry about the bandages coming loose," Muyang explained. He then left the bedroom and waited for a while before the woman said, "I'm done, you can come in."
Muyang entered the bedroom and found the woman already dressed. She was wearing the black wool coat, her own leather shoes, and even the white small-brimmed hat that came with the coat. The hat brought her to life, giving her a modern, fashionable look.
Looking at the woman under the lamp, she had a unique charm.
"This coat is really nice, where did you buy it?" No matter what kind of woman, they are all clothing enthusiasts. Even in this situation, she still had the mood to study the clothes.
"Sit up, I'll put some makeup on you," Muyang said.
The woman obediently moved to the table and sat down, her big eyes looking at Muyang.
"Why are you looking at me? Look at the mirror," Muyang said, pointing to the mirror on the table. Being stared at by a beautiful woman was quite a pressure.
The woman smiled again.
Muyang had no expertise in makeup, but based on his past experiences, he started applying it directly to the woman.
The woman's face was pale, so he applied foundation first, then blush, which immediately made her look much more vibrant. After adding lipstick and eyeshadow, the woman had transformed into a celebrity. She had a great base, and if Muyang's makeup skills weren't so poor, she could have looked even more beautiful and outstanding.
Looking at herself in the mirror, from pale to radiant, the woman was very impressed by Muyang's makeup skills. This man was truly mysterious and multi-talented. Thinking about this, her beautiful eyes stared at Muyang, trying to see through his true nature.
"How do you feel?" Muyang asked, a bit smug.
"You actually know how to put makeup on women. Are you the legendary Zhang Chang who painted eyebrows?" the woman teased.
"‘After finishing the makeup, she lowers her head and asks her husband, is the eyebrow color appropriate?’ Do you want to be my wife?" Muyang replied, not backing down. Teasing a beautiful woman was definitely a pleasure in life.
The woman blushed at Muyang's words. She had only meant to tease him, but now she had inadvertently put herself in the situation.
At that moment, there was a loud knocking on the inn's door downstairs.
"Open up, open up, the Imperial Army is conducting a search. Old Zhao, hurry up, or the Imperial Army will accuse you of harboring bandits," a voice outside shouted.
"Coming, coming, sir, don't knock, I'll open it right away."
Muyang didn't go out to check; he just listened quietly to the commotion outside.
He heard the Japanese shouting downstairs, then a voice in Chinese said, "Search each room carefully, don't let any bandits escape. The Imperial Army said that if any bandits are missed, there will be consequences. Everyone, stay alert and search carefully."
Then came the sound of doors being knocked and the White Dogs entering rooms to search, with people shouting and dogs barking, creating a chaotic scene.
"Bang, bang, bang," "Open up, open up, open the door quickly, or I'll shoot," the door to Muyang's room was finally knocked on.
"Don't rush, I'm getting dressed, I'll be right there," Muyang replied from inside.
"Damn it, what are you dressing for? It'll save us the trouble of a body search. Open the door quickly," the voice outside cursed, clearly impatient.
Muyang gave the woman a look, then went to open the door. When the door opened, three White Dogs rushed in, all holding rifles with bayonets. One of them pointed the bayonet at Muyang and said, "Damn it, why did it take so long to open the door? Are you hiding bandits? Speak."
"This officer is joking. My wife and I just heard the noise and got up, so it took a bit longer," Muyang explained with a smile.
The three White Dogs saw the woman sitting at the table and were all taken aback. She was a beautiful woman. "Brothers, does this woman look like a bandit? She's very suspicious. Should we take her back for a thorough interrogation?"
"I think this woman is very suspicious. We should take her back."
The White Dogs were practically bandits, wanting to forcibly take the beautiful woman. Muyang's face turned cold, and he angrily said, "Don't provoke someone you shouldn't. My father is a well-known social figure in the capital, often drinking tea and chatting with General Okamura in North China. Do you want to die by touching my wife?"
Muyang's words scared the three White Dogs. General Okamura's name was well-known throughout North China. He was the one who implemented the Three Alls Policy and the Pacification Campaign. They were just ordinary soldiers, and even ordinary Japanese soldiers could bully them, let alone the commander of the Japanese forces in North China, who was a god-like figure. They decided to back off, or they would be turned to dust by a single breath from the god.
The three White Dogs looked at Muyang suspiciously. He was dressed in a neat Zhongshan suit, with an unusual demeanor, clearly not a common villager. The woman's appearance and behavior also didn't seem like that of an ordinary woman. Could these two really be the children of a prominent family, as the man claimed?
They didn't dare to take the risk. The leading White Dog immediately put on a smile and said to Muyang, "Sir, there was a misunderstanding. There are bandits attacking the Imperial Army in the city, and we are just following orders. I don't see any bandits here. We apologize for the disturbance. We'll be on our way."
Muyang watched the three men leave the room with a stern face, and only when they were gone did his expression relax. His palms were sweaty. This crisis had passed.
The room fell silent, and neither of them spoke. Soon, they heard the Japanese talking downstairs, and then the Japanese and White Dogs left in a hurry.
Muyang finally breathed a sigh of relief. They were finally gone.
"Who are you, really?" the woman asked, looking at Muyang with interest.
"And who are you? Can you tell me?" Muyang countered, looking at the woman.
They stared at each other for a while before the woman said, "My name is Qin Huaiyun. What about you? What's your name? What's your background? You don't seem like an ordinary student."
"My name is Muyang. You don't seem like an ordinary person either. Are you from the Nationalist Party or the Communist Party? Who are you working for?"
Just giving him a name and trying to get information out of him wasn't that easy.
The woman looked deeply at Muyang and said, "The background you mentioned earlier is probably fake. If you were really surnamed Mu, there wouldn't be any high-ranking people with that surname in the capital, let alone someone familiar with the old Japanese General Okamura."
Muyang smiled and said, "Someone who knows the capital, or even the country, so well must be a big shot in the Nationalist Party."
The woman was taken aback. Muyang was indeed not simple. From her simple statement, he could draw such a conclusion. He was a meticulous and clever person.
Before the woman could speak, Muyang continued, "My name is absolutely real. You guessed right; the identity I mentioned earlier was fabricated. I am just an ordinary student. Can you tell me your story?"
"I'm tired and want to rest," the woman said, walking towards the bedroom.
"It's late, and we've been busy for a long time. It's time to rest," Muyang said, following her into the bedroom.
The woman turned to look at Muyang, "Do you want to sleep in the same bed with me?"
"There's only one bed in this room. Do you want me, the host, to sleep on the floor, Miss Qin? Don't be ungrateful. I just risked my life to save you from the Japanese. I don't think you would let your savior sleep on the floor, right? I don't think you're that kind of person."
