Somewhat thorny
Wu Dong and Shen Ying’s quarrel stopped abruptly. She looked at her Lord, who was sitting up above in the hall, with pure disbelief. Incapable of comprehending why he, who had always been such a sceptical and treacherous person, had trusted the woman in front of him so easily.
Yu Qingluo chuckled, it looks like this man still had a brain and won’t believe Wu Dong’s suspicions against her that easily. Otherwise, this Peng Ying’s life would really be unable to be saved. After such a thought, she then, with a joyous semblance, said.
“Please tell me your distinguished name.”
It’s just, that after she made her question, Wu Dong couldn’t bear but become enraged: “You are so rude, how dare you ask for the Lord’s name?!” Even she only knew the Lord’s surname, so how could this unknown woman try to obtain his first name?
Yu Qingluo was really feeling annoyed to death by this Wu Dong, she is always going about something, never knowing when to be quiet. Hearing her complaint, she answered coldly: “Why can’t I know? I’m not one of your Mo residence’s subordinates. Do you truly think that I would call him ‘Lord’ just like all of you? Or else, do you think it would be polite for me to just address him with a ‘hey, you’?
“You…” Wu Dong was lost for words.
Shen Ying pursed his lips. This time he didn’t make any snide comments and his gaze only drifted towards the one behind the curtain.
That man was taken aback by her request as if he didn’t expect her condition to be such a simple one.
However, he still hesitated for a second, before muttering an answer: “After you finish treating him, I’ll tell you personally.”
Yu Qingluo gave a happy ‘hun’. To be honest, she didn’t really need to know his name, it’s just that she wasn’t sure how important this Peng Ying was in the mind of this Lord of his. She had no way to know if they would throw her out of this place if her conditions were too demanding.
Anyway, she couldn’t leave this Mo residence for now. Her son was still in here, so how could she just go by herself and leave him behind? Of course, there was also the arrays which she was very curious about.
But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. The other bigger requests such as money, a house or a carriage… they can also be mentioned later on.
While thinking that, she had already taken some steps and squatted next to the unconscious Peng Ying. After giving him a brief glance over, she turned to Shen Ying: “Go and bring me a brazier”. Although this hall was big, its disposition was somewhat weird. She wasn’t sure whether this was the purpose of this Lord of theirs or not, but the outside was filled with trees and rockeries placed in such a way that the entire hall became dark and gloomy.
But this Peng Ying couldn’t be moved an inch at this moment. If they attempted to even, she might think that treating him would be difficult. So, she needed to illuminate this place better.
Wu Dong’s face twisted in a grimace. Does the Lord agree with this woman’s treatment? Damn it, if this woman is really capable of saving Peng Ying’s life, then later how would be her position inside this residence? She was afraid that even people like Shen Ying wouldn’t put her in their eyes any longer.
Gritting her teeth, her eyes emitted killing intent as they fixed themselves on Peng Ying. Since he going to die soon anyway, why should he still be here becoming an obstacle in people’s paths?
With such a thought, Wu Dong calmed herself down and raised her eyes to Yu Qingluo, making her voice as placid as possible: “I hope that you actually possess the ability to treat Peng Ying, otherwise you’ll be unable to bear the consequences. In addition, I advise you not to play any tricks, this is the Mo residence, not a place for you to mess around.” (TL: She’s speaking like she’s the Matron of this household. Lord, you better watch out!)
With that being said, she walked some steps and squatted right on the other side of Peng Ying’s body, face-to-face with Yu Qingluo, as if she was watching her every move.
Gradually moving her both hands towards the knife entrenched in Peng Ying’s wound she continued: “I’m experienced in taking blades out, leave this part to me.”
Yu Qingluo raised her eyes, looking at her. Then turned to Shen Ying, who had just arrived with the brazier that she ordered them to bring: “Could I trouble you to throw her out? Her presence here is affecting my mood. And if my mood is unstable, I might end up killing this Peng-something person.”
Shen Ying was frightened by her words as he only had Peng Ying’s survival in his thoughts right now. Hearing the girl saying so, he naturally pushed Wu Dong up and almost threw her out of the door.
Wu Dong’s hands, at that time, had almost reached the blade’s handle, but it was all good now. Since she was unable to do any harm in the end.
Wu Dong pulled her arm out of Shen Ying’s hands readily: “Shen Ying, a man and woman aren’t supposed to have skin contact, if you touch me again you’ll end up ruining my reputation!”
After speaking she turned to walk back into the Hall.
But the man behind the curtain finally spoke, with a voice showing a hint of impatience: “Wu Dong, go out.”
As soon as the Lord opened his mouth, Wu Dong was stunned. Her expression turned aggrieved.
Yu Qingluo almost couldn’t hold a smile at that. Who was she wanting to show this aggrieved expression to? Since that Lord of hers had a curtain covering his view she doubted he would be able to see it.
Wu Dong was then ‘invited’ to leave by the now relieved Shen Ying. Two big braziers had also been placed inside of the hall by the other guards.
Without that person’s continuous rambling, Yu Qingluo’s attention was placed entirely on Peng Ying’s body. With her fingers, she checked the inside of his eyelids before immediately turning solemn.
When Shen Ying saw her complexion, his heart also took a leap on his chest. He, Mo Xian, Peng Ying and Wen Tian have been together with the Lord since they were children, so their feelings were naturally deep. After seeing that he was unconscious and his state critical, along with Wu Dong’s diagnosis as ‘incurable’, his feelings became uncontrollably flustered and anxious.
Yu Qingluo turned her attention to the purse she carried on herself, taking out a black pill from inside and feeding it directly into Peng Ying’s mouth [1].
The pill was already melting in his mouth, and it was too late for Shen Ying to try and stop her. He wanted to ask the girl what that pill was, but when he saw her focused and serious face, he swallowed his words back.
Yu Qingluo cut the clothes out of the injured man’s upper body, revealing his naked chest and the dagger embedded into his body. Her eyes narrowed at the sight.
“Give me a hand” she raised her eyes to Shen Ying and made a motion to him.
Shen Ying said nothing as he moved to help. Seeing Yu Qingluo’s hands grasping the knife’s handle and letting out a slow and cautious exhalation.
The knife was pulled out with a ‘chi’. The pain making Peng Ying’s body try to shoot up in a sitting position as it momentarily awakened him. He had barely opened his eyes before he fainted once again.
Blood started spewing out from his wound at a fast speed. Shen Ying was so shocked that he held his breath in fear. Still not daring to speak a word, he could only show a tense facial expression as he watched Yu Qingluo reaching her hands towards a place above his wound and pressing down on it without another word.
He was surprised to see that the blood that was spilling out slowly stopped flowing out. Shen Ying finally let out a relieved breath.
Yu Qingluo temporarily stopped the bleeding using a simple acupressure technique. But this was just a temporary measure, she would have to switch to another homeostatic method afterwards, otherwise, he might just bleed to death.
“Give me the gauze” only Shen Ying was fast enough in that place, so she could only ask him again.
As for that Lord or something, she would just think of him as part of the background.
In any case, he didn’t talk that much. If it wasn’t for this pressing feeling on her back, she wouldn’t even notice that character sitting behind the curtain.
Although she kept complaining in her mind, her hands didn’t stop for a second.
It was quite fortunate that the knife didn’t pierce too deeply and that she was cautious when she drew it out as not to injure any vital spots. So, it didn’t take long for her to finish treating the wound, tightly bandaging it up.
But the situation was far from over, the poison plaguing him… it was a tricky one.

[1] – Here we have an example of a sublingual administration route for drugs, not oral as it is implied at first (it means that the drug is placed inside the mouth, under the tongue and then as it melts, the active substance is readily absorbed into the systemic circulation (spreads fast through the body) without being metabolized (destroyed, inactivated) by the liver in the process. It is also ok for unconscious patients!
